Being a philosophy student, I was trying to make sense of the practicality of metaphysical notions. Thank you sir, for explaining them in lucid language.
This is only the basic lesson.
I think the concept of essence is similar to Jainism, where the Jiva or the Soul is extendable. Through acquisition of knowledge...Mati Jnana or Srutha Jnana, the impurities sorrounding the Soul can be removed and the Jiva is capable of developing itself. The difference is that to them the Jiva is sorrounded by impurities from Karmic cycle or Previous Births which could be removed through acquisition of knowledge.

Sir, is this being is now discovered as genome, which is the essence. Human's potential can be the genomic potential to a great extent. Even his thinking capacity or intellegence is based on genes.So philosophors should also learn new findings in molecular biology. At the time of Aristotle or Hegel, or Marx, there was little knowledge about genomics. It will be appreciated if philosophy is integrated with the findings in genomics.

The lady you mention at the beginning of the video is the French teacher & writer, Simone de Beauvoir. As far as i understand, she was not just a 'student' or 'friend' of Sartre; she was his partner for 51 years. They had an 'open-end relationship' (meaning, both can have multiple partners). She was a 'Radical Marxist', a 'Radical Feminist' & an activist. Can you please tell your personal opinion about Simone de Beauvoir's life & writings & her impact on many legislations concerning family? I think her impact on the weakening of the family-unit, is massive. I think her famous book was finally put on the 'banned books' list by the Vatican. Can you please tell your personal opinion about her? Thankyou.

First of all we accept that there are two arguments. 1) There is an "I" before we think 2) There is no "I" and only thinking or consciousness.
This I is like a germ in a seed. This is pluripotent. In that sense also one can say that man is a tabula rasa🎉
