People who have never been onstage probably don't appreciate the idea that someone like Gene Simmons is willing to step back and put someone else 100% in front. That is a pro. I still believe that Gene and Paul's post-KISS solo careers are a talent search for KISS 2.0.
Gene's band is so great, they deserve way more credit than they get. They had a big influence on set lists convincing Gene to step outside the same old conventional KISS set & work in some deep cuts - Charisma is an excellent example. Gene & his band make it fun for everybody & this talented young lady knocked it out of the park. 👍
Well I was one of them guys that was a fan wayyyyy back in the 70s and none of us thought KISS sold out a damn thing! Seen them twice and hands down were the best kickass live concert band on the planet earth! And this girl? She done did good!
When KISS first did this in the late 70's everyone said they sold out to disco. Well, Paul Stanley is one astute genius because it's a fucken awesome song, sung brilliantly by this incredibly talented lady. I saw Gene in my city and the person who sang it , she too commanded applause.
It went near the top of the charts in several countries, so it seems many don't agree with you. I loved it when it came out and it still sounds great today. FYI, it was a bigger hit in Australia than the US. Paul had been regularly hanging out at dance clubs when he decided to write this (with help from Desmond Child and Vini Poncia).
One direction topped the charts in several countries, your argument is invalid..and it IS a shameless cash in on the disco craze. Kiss sold out to many genres after that.
Tired argument. It's just your opinion. One Direction topped charts because of kids, mainly young girls. To them, One Direction was good. That's their opinion and it's not invalid. Young girls didn't put I was Made For Lovin You on the charts. And I guess the opinions of all these cheering Kiss fans are wrong too: ruclips.net/video/9o--0G4kxFY/видео.html ruclips.net/video/9UJL7681Wws/видео.html
It was a case of adapt( which they did very well with the help of many talented musos and producers) or die. And please don't bring One (fuck'n) Direction into this. You can't be serious.
OMG that was hillarious. Gene was seriously impressed with this lady. She did so many funny things on stage and sang her heart out. The final part where Gene takes out money and she says "not enough" was priceless.
@GIL Favor What part of my statement did you not understand Gillard? Read it again! I said this is the best I've heard this song played live. I've seen KISS live since the 70s and they've never sounded as good as this version does. Gene, and his band of musicians are sounding great! Now go back and play your video games....
Obviously the recording doesn't do her voice justice but it was the strongest female vocal I have ever heard live (besides Lizzie Hale). Her band is called Lillye.
Many interviews and commentaries: Mostly Desmond Childs, although Paul Stanley obviously created the disco-era "vocal stylings." At various times everyone in the band, I think , has stated they hated this tune. It only existed because their then-producer told them to adapt or die, in effect, and in the arguments Paul is reported to have said he could write a million-seller disco tune in almost real time (disco being such crap). I don't know if they created this in an hour in the studio, but it doesn't matter: Stanley was right, and this cut went on to be certified gold. ""I Was Made for Lovin' You" was the band's second Gold single, selling over 1 million copies. The single was certified Gold in the U.S. on August 16, 1979, and in Canada on August 1, 1979. The single reached No. 11 on the U.S. Billboard singles chart and No. 1 in the Canadian RPM National singles chart (the band's second chart-topping single in that country, following "Shout It Out Loud"). It further became a hit in Australia reaching No. 2 on the ARIA charts in 1979. As well, it charted in Western Europe: it became a top 20 hit in Sweden, a top 10 hit in Norway, and made it to the number 2 position in France, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. In the Netherlands it was a No. 1. In the UK it stalled at number 50." Wikipedia
She has talent. But there's just something about a female singer that pushes the power of their voice as opposed the ability to control it that doesn't really impress me.....
I hear Joan Jett , Pat Benatar, a little Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship if you dont know). ... Im a woman and she at 81 can still put her shoes under my bed anyday.... Well i am a lesbian but still oh her voice when she was at her best be still my heart.. Shes awesome. Grace Slick also has a habit of answering her studio phone... Found that out when they were advertising for a session bassist and drummer. Which i am. I couldnt get there still kicking myself i had my appendix burst the day before i was supposed to fly to US from my London UK home. She picks up the phone and im like can i talk to ( name i was given to ask for here). She says hang on ill go get him. She leaves and im thinking that voice no it cant be or is it no it cant be why is she answering the studio phone. 5mins or so later shes back and says sorrry miss hes out to lunch right now can i get a number to call you and ill get him to ring you when he comes back. Only after i told her why i was ringing. So yeah i gave Grace Slick my phone number. And i had to keep from going crazy talking toher. This was in the late 1980s. She still owns the studio in Manhattan. I will forever never forgive my appendix. . I could have played at Sunset Slicks Studio. Im still pissed off. I had the damn interview down . And bam . fucking appendix. She outsings Paul these days. Not that its too hard to do. Hes let his voice really go unlike Gene. Ace still owns my heart.
I've watched a few clips of Gene Simmons in Australia now and I got to admit he seems half decent... especially since he has teamed up with Ace. Ace did the right thing leaving Kiss (or getting kicked out - whatever). Kiss passed its use by date years ago. It's actually embarrassing to watch them now that Paul's voice is gone and with 'fake Ace'. They need to stop flogging a dead horse and start doing gigs like Gene has been doing in Australia with a great band like these guys. Get back to the basics of great rock music. So glad the girl knocked back Gene's sexual advances and his shitty $20 note. (ps I know it was a joke)
Wow.. totally underwhelming.. I can sing this thing better and have certainly heard quite a few women in the karaoke environment that could do far far better.
People who have never been onstage probably don't appreciate the idea that someone like Gene Simmons is willing to step back and put someone else 100% in front. That is a pro. I still believe that Gene and Paul's post-KISS solo careers are a talent search for KISS 2.0.

She has some voice.
I admire her confidence, she owns that stage.
I'd pay to see a whole gig with her on lead vocals.
A kickass performance.
Well I was one of them guys that was a fan wayyyyy back in the 70s and none of us thought KISS sold out a damn thing! Seen them twice and hands down were the best kickass live concert band on the planet earth! And this girl? She done did good!

@FiatDuster fuck off.... Nobody cares what you think.
WOW 😂 SYDNEY ROCKS
OMG that was hillarious. Gene was seriously impressed with this lady. She did so many funny things on stage and sang her heart out. The final part where Gene takes out money and she says "not enough" was priceless.
I was there in the front row, it was a $20 bill.
OMG yes blew my mind she injected so much energy and power into it
The best I've ever heard this performed live..
@GIL Favor What part of my statement did you not understand Gillard? Read it again! I said this is the best I've heard this song played live. i never new how awsome kiss was till i heard how she sang this no to good.
i grew up with kiss first heard them ever was back in 1975 .
This is freaking awwwwwwwwwsommmme!!!!
3:16 Gene adding simple licks like this is what makes him so good!
I loved the song but the end when Gene was handing her what I think was cash, she's like "That's not enough" LOL Awesome
This singer was GREAT. Better than i expected. Just great. Entertaining.
sounds great i love genes solo band the look like they are having a god time..:)and genes bass tone is epic
Go no girl give it some, lovely raw vocal love it!!
Brilliant! Come on, girl, and keep the pressure! We were made for hearing you, baby...
Well it's OBVIOUS she didn't take to your flirtations, she DOESN'T play on your team Gene! lol!
Great voice! She rocks! \m/
I guess she plays on the exactly same team of Gene :)
You don't know much, do you?
Gene wants me back in KISS
hope she gets a recording of that killer pipes great energy
Fabulosa
No disco son will ever be better than if it is composed by a rocker, which is exactly the case with this great song.
i don't think that song ever sounded more metal than this!!
She sang very well, my gosh. Who is she? I love it.
What a kick ass singer!! Love it :)
I remember when Paul had strong pipes like that
I love this song
Great Voice!!
Awesome job.. ✌👏👌👍🎸😎
Awesome...well done.
Did you see the other video?Gene still getting them girls with this song.😃
Amazing!!!!
Bring Ace FREHLEY'back
That chick is awesome. What a great lifetime event.
This version kicks ass!
Que buena versión y la chica con toda la actitud !
"In the 70's before any of you were born" LOL...im betting 90% of the building is over 50.
Obviously the recording doesn't do her voice justice but it was the strongest female vocal I have ever heard live (besides Lizzie Hale). Her band is called Lillye.
You should check out "In This Moment" for the best female vocalist... try song 11:11 for starters
Look up "Waiting For The Big One" by Femme Fatale. The official music video, not the live performances.
She's great.
😍😍😍😍
RESPECT !!!!!!!!! she really sing ,,,,,,,
who is she? It seems she was waiting all her life to sing this great song!
"that's not enough" CLASSIC haha
Damm! She nailed it! And I would nail her! Hehehe
Joe Gonzalez - I bet you would. Cuz we both know she wouldn’t nail you.
@@luismaldonado4989 I’m sure she would she could do a lot worse , like you for instance look in the mirror pendejo
Well there's the new frontman for kiss
Who'sher? OMG baby 😍😍

Brilliant, love it. Hilarious audience member commenting, "Stop fuckin' about and do Unholy."
Haha yeah, she was right next too me
boss performance
Ok ...awesome
Fucking cool, don't get this stuff in the UK, first time I saw this was in 1980, I was 16 , would love to see solo stuff here.
She has talent. But there's just something about a female singer that pushes the power of their voice as opposed the ability to control it that doesn't really impress me.....
Totally agree.
One thing I wish , genes band wouldn't do Paul songs , just my opinion , I'd rather just hear Gene's
Whose the singer?
Virginia Lillye
who is the girl?...what band is she in ?
I think someone played it out of key in the beginning but quickly rectified it that’s what a pro does
Огонь!!!!
GYYYYAAATTTT
So ironic that this song is the only song that Gene admitted that he actually hated to play.
is that a new drummer?
Who's this babe? D:
She sings well, nice rough edge.
Wow..great singer..nice arse and thighs as well...
She sounds like Pink but she can actually sing.
Just think if Joan Jett started singing for KISS.
she doesnt sound like paul but it was still cool
at first it was doing pretty good then she just went totally crazy
Rather hear Gene sing it than her.
I hear a.little Pat Benetar
I hear Joan Jett , Pat Benatar, a little Grace Slick (Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship if you dont know).

I liked the first bit of her singing, then she just became annoying. Just my opinion.

70 year old man singing i was made for loving you i’m going to throw up
Actually the 70 year old man did not sing it..wat h again
I hate to say this Gene she's way better then Paul on this song
Thicc.
Good voice. But she needs to learn how to dance and grove to the music better.
She doesn't need to learn anything. This was a once in a lifetime experience and she was having a blast. No need to critique it.
She doesn't sing with a local band, and/or have intentions of doing so? If the answer is yes, I stand behind my post.
Where was ace he hated this song
Yes, he did. You can see it on his face every time he played it.
Great Video! This girl is good. But she is gonna trash her vocal cords singing this way,! It's way to forced at some points.
She's currently killing it on the voice Australia, and does this kind of singing most weeks she's incredible
Them legs tho
punk !!!
Wow.. totally underwhelming.. I can sing this thing better and have certainly heard quite a few women in the karaoke environment that could do far far better.
Gene hates this song.
to much talking
the ultimate worst cover !!!
this chic is BAD!!!
Que mal se escucha con una mujer.
