      I'll keep you updated. Heading to Thailand for the winter in a couple of weeks, then get building. Thanks for the link, price is right ! I've scavenged a folding prop from an old whisper 1400 Glider. Wish I could pack my planes...but they would never survive the trip.

    Been watching your depron glider builds and rely like how this N3UTRON appears to preform. Very floaty for thermalling and nice light wind slope soarer.
    Also the build techniques are fascinating. Something similar to this and a depron plank are on my project list to experiment with this summer. Came to the build video to learn how you secured the tail, and made the spring hinge. As always, well document, and good resource reference. :)

    I spent the last week building my N3utron, which is almost identical to Andrews one, with the Emax motor and a fixed prop. The only difference is I used 1.2mm carbon push rods and not the torsion spring controls and iron on film and not laminating film. Flys like it is on rails. Love it.

    I'm just looking at my Aqaufina 500mL water bottle and it's a perfect match for that cowl at 0:00 seconds (that's when the plastic was thicker and not too thin like now)(I refill it). I suppose you could paint it or put tape on it and also tape it to the fuselage. But what I want to know and see are the innards to this beauty and most of all, I want to know how that arrow shaft was secured/held/glued in the fuselage. I would like pictures and all the details because this is paramount. Oh, a feller's just gotta have both a 3mm and a 6mm wing at all times and let the wind decide / determine and I'm guessing that's zero degree incidence for the wing, right?

    • @AndrewNewton
      @AndrewNewton  5 лет назад

      Yes I know, should have taken more photos. Yes, Zero incidence

    Hi Andrew. Yet another question. The foam board you use is just foam. Not foam sandwiched between paper. I’m having a hard time here in the states trying to source the 3mm or for 1/8”. Just wanted to make sure it’s not the paper/foam.
    Thanks again. Mike

    • @AndrewNewton

    • @AndrewNewton

      I'll show that in a future video but it's just hot glued to the top deck of the fuselage and there is a double 6mm depron bulkhead supporting the front of the shaft.

    Great glider, respect! I want to recreate it but can't find the information about the angle between the main wing and elevator, how big is it? According to the plan geometry, it is around 3.5 degrees, is that correct?, For normal glider it should be 1-2 degrees. Best regards form Germany

    Got my N3utron built and looking forward to flying it. waiting for the prop to arrive. Ended up moving the wing forward about 50mm to get it to balance. I made the pod a stronger so I think thats why I had to do this. It weighs 370g. Ill let you know how it flies. How can I send you photos of it? I havent found a way to attach them to comments here.

      For a plane of that weight any 20-30 gram brushless motor should work regardless of what kv it is. This plane only needs the motor for getting to altitude after launch and getting out of troublesome situations, other times it will be gliding so I am guessing that using the perfect power system doesn't matter that much. In my opinion only thing to care about is if you are not going to use a folding prop, using a higher kv (around 2200) motor with a smaller prop (5-6 inches) would create less drag.
