Firstly, thank you for being so open and vulnerable. I don’t usually watch your videos but stumbled across it on TikTok. I feel for Tariq, his whole identity was questioned. I think the age of 2-5 yrs children can comprehend what their racial identity is, the earlier the better. The mom needs to sit down her son and apologize, start off by validate his feelings and explain to him why she kept a big part of his identity a secret without going too much into details but also giving him the closure he needs.
Sometimes we forget that it’s not about parents and pointing at each other’s mistakes but it is about kids and there needs come first
