I LOVE the song ❤❤ So glad she won! ❤ LOVE the traditional instruments, native language and other ethnic elements, the dark epic performance, the deep lyrics, the emotions that she gave us... everything ❤
I am Ukrainian and this song reflects whole our history which was very difficult. We remember it very well and we are making effort for a better nowadays and future🙏🏻
She is a bird. A bird of peace. Everything about her beautiful performance screams for attention to the political situation in Ukraine. She is calling and beging for peace with every motion she is making, her eyes are seeing through my soul. I think maybe she is even saying that Russia and Ukraine have a past, a history and ancestors and it can be remembered, but now it's time to write each their own history. This is a 2022 update to 1944. She is very striking, I love everything about it, for being, True, authentic, empowering; love the musicality, and I love that it is folk and modern just like the message in the song. And most of all its not another empty song, it has a purpose, and that's why the emotions are so strong and will reach to so many audiences hearts!
Every famous name mentioned in the rapping part brings its own deep message. "One for all and all for one" by Dumas is a very timely call for national unity in face of the threat of ruSSia's full-scale war, as well as the need for Picasso's peace dove. The reference to Dante, who wrote "Divine comedy" about the afterlife soul's journey but nowadays could be writing "Divine tragedy", refers to the current imminent danger of sending humankind to the afterlife. Shakespeare is the master of drama bringing up existential questions including the most famous one "To be or not to be". And Alina's call is "To Be!" and to write our OWN history, remembering ancestors, history, and culture, and to leave our own legacy after ourselves, beautiful like fairytales by Grimm brothers. Very clever lines which should speak to all of Europe, but, unfortunately, can be missed by less educated people. And the sounds at the beginning and the end are bird calls, uniting with Nature. And I love the beautiful message in the visuals of her eyes: it zooms in and in the depth of each eye another eye keeps appearing like eyes of generations of ancestors. We are onions with layers created by ancestors, direct of spiritual, coming from different cultures.
Despite really great song and performance my personal regret is that she didn't mention any names of great Ukrainian contributors considering the name of her song itself. In our attempts to be integrated into Europe's culture we mustn't forget first of all our fundamentals, our roots, our sacred by nation names.
@@Olga-iy6op This part was for foreigners who don't understand Ukrainian, and Ukrainians understood the rest of the song. And how would you pick just 1 Ukrainian name, which wouldn't be familiar for the rest of Europe anyway? The whole culture is important, not just 1 name.
