lmaooooo, I appreciate you bro
@@jarrodfranklin7375 welcome, family!
I wonder if these will fit on the 2022/2023. I really like the sound of this. Gives the GX a beefier sound without coming off like a 25 year old with their first mustang GT.
It will fit 22-23 for sure 100%
Just did mine tonight after watching your video. It was surprisingly easy with hand tools on the driveway. To avoid cutting the pipe, use swivel sockets to get the bolts after the muffler. Dropping the spare helps immensely too.
I have installed a lot of exhaust over the years in my driveway. 1990 Honda rice rockets when I was a kid. Nissan titans. Lots of 6.7 Cummins. But this one was the easiest and of excellent quality and put together well. I’m impressed with the Magnaflow.
Thanks for watching 😁 it is an easy job and very rewarding 😎. Yeah the Magnaflow kit looks to be of good quality, so far so good.
Great vid as usual.. Just got one installed last week. Paid $150 don’t have a driveway in NYC. Lol. Loving the growl finally. Added an AFE Dry filter as well. Definite throttle response improvement as well as a power increase. Driving with the shifter in sports mode every time my wife’s not in the car..
Nice! I've been thinking about the AFE but the cold air box, little too pricey of you ask me.
I feel you on the whole wife issue, when she's riding with me i feel like I'm a student driver and she's the instructor
@@DIYSpeedGarage I too have caviar dreams but for $65 I’m very impressed with the AFE filter alone. A noticeable improvement in response over the stock. Traction control is coming on now when I pull hard out of corners where it never did before. Fun. Yes my wife also likes to instruct but then drives like a maniac herself. I mostly like to be alone with the new pipe so I can shift manually and hear the growl. Sounds great in tunnels.
Yeah with this new exhaust i wish all the roads are inside tunnels 😁
@@DIYSpeedGarage Dude...LOL.
Nice thing about a magnaflow exhaust is that you really won't hear it until you get on it! Also it will sound better with time! Great video, you DIY'ERS here on YT are scholars! Way to improvise Sammy when you ran into the bolts that wouldn't budge! Great job!
Hey Gilbert! I agree with you about the Magnaflow, if you take it easy it's nice and chill, if you step on it then it wakes up. Yeah when you DIY you often need to improvise, but in the end when you get it done it's a very rewarding feeling of accomplishment 🤣
Thanks for watching!
Sounds good without being annoying!!
Yes i agree, I'm glad it doesn't sound just like any other V8 pickup, it has a unique V8 sound (Japanese muscle car 😁)
Thank you for the adequate explanation and the wonderful photography
You are welcome. Thank you for watching!
Oh man that sounded nice, change of plan... getting the exhaust first before the lift, LOL!
Yeah, exhaust is probably better to get first. Otherwise you miss out on all that beautiful V8 symphony 😁
Just found your channel. I love how quiet my GX is. The exhaust does sound good though. Subscribed. I own a ‘18 gx sport design.
Welcome Erik! Thank you for watching
Sounds really good Sammy! Would love to hear the sound when doing the speed limit on the intestate?
Thanks Mark. I'll shoot a quick video on that soon but it's actually pretty quiet when your just cruising, mostly noisier when accelerating.
Great video! Thanks for opting for the GoPro with the handle! It does make a difference as far as being able to watch without getting dizzy. At least for me anyhow.
Thanks for watching Ed 👊🏻
Love everything about the exhaust except for the decision to point the end down vs come out at the bumper cutout. My OCD triggers me because I find a vehicle look unfinished when there is a cutout with no exhaust pipe present.
Yeah I wish they offered that option, straight out or end down. You can always take that last piece and go get a piece welded on to go straight out.
Loved the video, dude! Sounds great!
Thanks for watching!
Looks and sounds great! Definitely more throaty. Will do this mod after I smash mine up.
Thanks Robert! I'm loving it so far. I've had it on for a few weeks now but i wanted to wait and do a proper test before i recommend this.
I forgot to mention this but you should listen to it with headphones to really be able to properly hear it. Doesn't sound too impressive when watching on my iPhone.
Good job on the video! Can't wait to install mine
Thank you Sir, don't forget the saw and a few blades, if you've got anything older than 2-3 years old the bolts will be rusted in most cases 😉
Stock exhaust is inaudible. You only hear fan from the engine. Are you happy with the exhaust long term. Or would you rather silent?
Yes I'm very happy. It's not too loud but now anyone inside or around the Lexus can easily tell it's a beefy V8 😉👌
Wow. Thank you for the video and suggestion for the product! I will be going to check out a GX460 Premium this Sunday, and this may be my first addition to the vehicle.
Good luck buddy, I'm sure you'll love it. Also it may feel slow when you first start driving it, you'll really need to step on it to feel the V8 come alive and then you'll see 😁
@@DIYSpeedGarage I went and test drove it yesterday. I loved it! Unfortunately, I'm very picky, and it wasn't up to my standards. I'm going you check out another one around noon today.
Yeah buddy, you did good not rushing in on the first one you see. You'll know it when you find the right one 😁
@@DIYSpeedGarage a day after the reported incident, I bought a mint condition 2012 GX Premium, with 90K miles, and one owner. Tungsten Pearl and black interior. Even has double monitors in the back. Great condition.
Hey Buddy, congrats 🎉 welcome to the GX club!!!! 😎 Now you need to change your handle to HeartofGX 😁
It sounds great!👍
Thank you sir 👍
Sammie,
Any update on this exhaust. Drone/Rattles/Rust. How's the "wife happy factor" with it?
How many miles so far with it?
Thx
Hi Mike! No rattles, droning, or rust so far. I'm not sure how many miles but it's got to be at least 1000 or 2000 😁
@@DIYSpeedGarage 1-2k it’s been a year!!! My lady put 7800 miles on hers in 5 months 😭. Also glad to hear you still like it. Def want to try this iut. Just hate changing something that is perfectly fine “just because” haha
Hey Lance, it's perfectly fine but awfully quiet 😂 You don't even know you're driving a V8 😕 Go for it and you'll be much happier 😉
@@DIYSpeedGarage I know 😭. I’m gonna March home slam the door and tell my wife I’m getting a new exhaust for the mall crawler and she can’t stop me!
That's what I'm talking about bro, put your foot down and end of story 😎😁
How do you like the exhaust after a year of ownership? Any cabin drone?
Still like it, no regrets. No droning no rust. I'm a happy customer 😎
Thanks for watching!
thanks for the video ! I have the quickjack as well. Which points do you use to lift the GX460 ? and did you use the tall blocks or did you buy the extended frames ?
Hey Derek, your welcome 😎
I use the front part of the frame where it starts to curve towards the front and the rear part. I do have the extended frames. I used the the tall blocks but i put one 6x6 piece under each block. This is the only way it can be done unless you get the truck adapters. Cheers
@@DIYSpeedGarage thanks for the tip. I have the extended frame as well and I should start cutting some 6x6 instead of using 2x4. Thanks for the info !
Make sure your 6x6 pieces are 7", just to make things a little more stable. Make sure you check and double check everything when lifting, take your time.
@@DIYSpeedGarage absolutely, I will make sure I have at least 7” of coverage. I always double check and make sure the all the points before I commit lifting. Thanks !
Sounds good Derek. I'll tell you this, I had my GX up on the quickjack for almost a week and it was solid like a rock. I had people comment and tell me it's not safe or whatever but if you have everything setup correctly and everything is double checked then you'll have nothing to worry about. Good luck bud
Hi Sammy! Nice exhaust
Thank you sir 😎
Have you noticed a change in MPGs since installing the new exhaust?
Nothing noticable. Just a nicer sound
Awesome vid, question though is thentail pipe a resonator on the stock exhaust?
Yes there was a resonator on the stock exhaust.
@@DIYSpeedGarage thx bro. Keep up more vids
Will do. Thanks 😎
Any drone on the highway at 70-80mph?
No sir, all quiet
@@DIYSpeedGarage glad to hear that!
Any annoying resonance or droning at cruise speeds with the RPMs between 1500 and 2500? That’s typically where the RPMs live during my driving.
No not really, i took it for a 100 mile trip and it was fine. If you're in the Orlando area I'd be happy to let you drive it and hear it for yourself 😁
@@DIYSpeedGarage dang it I was just in orlando not long ago! Thank you sir! I wanna do something like this, however it's still a daily and my wife drives it often so I need a fool proof way of jazzing the rig up without inconveniencing her 🤣
Dang it, why do these wives always have to cripple us 😂
I wish the pipe still went all the way to the end of the car still. Why’s it so short?
You could go to an exhaust shop and they can extend it.
The car looks new ,but why the exhaust is leak?
There is no leak. I did this for the sound.
So Sammie, it's about 3 months. Any update and how many miles you have on it now? Did it get louder? Drone?
Cheers
Hey Mike, I don’t think I’ve even done 1000 miles since I put it on but to Amber your question..... no I have not noticed any droning and it hasn’t gotten any louder yet. All I can say about this setup is that it sounds great, gives the GX a nice tone, and finally you can actually get to hear the beautiful Japanese V8.
No regrets at all.
If you’re in my area let me know and I’ll give you a ride so you can experience it for yourself in person 😁
@@DIYSpeedGarage Probably maybe visit the west side of FL (Ft Meyers area this summer)
@@DIYSpeedGarage The only thing I would do if it were mine would cut the tip flush and add a 304 stainless tip:
www.summitracing.com/parts/aph-st1254s
I like the exhaust tip poking out the back bumper like it was originally and I could have replaced mine but in this instance I decided that I wouldn’t replace it because it would probably scrape when I go on the trails and I’m climbing a steep rock or something.
With the new exhaust there is literally no way anything would scrape the exhaust tip since it’s so much further in under the vehicle.
@@DIYSpeedGarage I would cut it flush just between the last hanger and where the turn down starts. Then add a straight out tip. Wouldn't lose any clearance at all. It keeps the "line" out the same. Then have the tip end just under the rear bumper like factory. But that's me.
How’s the performance? Notice any immediate gains?
Honestly no. It just sounds faster 😂
did u gain any horsepower with the magnflow?
Can't say for sure but i think a little, the stock muffler is very restrictive and huge!
Is it possible to keep the oem tip tho? Thanks.
No, it wouldn't fit on the new exhaust unless you cut the straight, plus you wouldn't be able to see the tip since the new exhaust is shorter and is behind the bumper
@@DIYSpeedGarage thanks!
How much weight did you save doing this?
Don't know for sure but i would guess at least 20-30lbs. The stock muffler and resonator are pretty huge.
I've probably lost a total of 100lbs combined between this and my third row delete.
Third row delete on its own is 100#. Thanks for the video. Exhaust is next on my list of mods once I install my rear bumper this weekend.
Hey Michael, thanks for watching! What type of bumper are you getting? Metal tech?
@@DIYSpeedGarage LFD Offroad out of Denver NC. Updates and pictures on my build thread over on ih8mud 2018 Premium Build handle is Washington Taco
Ok thanks, I’ll check it out for sure 👍🏻
Basic tools/penetrating oil/lift and SOME SAFETY GLASSES...bro.
Oops... 😬 I totally forget to wear some! I will try to remember to wear them in future videos 😎
@@DIYSpeedGarage Rusty exhaust particles "fall down" onto eyes. Means bad time for mechanic. Ask me how I know. :(
wait... what the heck trailer hitch is that?
This video is for replacing the exhaust 😂
