This was the first song I heard by Korn, but in the 90's when it came out on MTV... I was 10 years old. I was instantly hooked and loved this band since then. I've seen them a few times in concert, head banged to their songs, jammed to their songs, chilled out in my truck listening to them, cried to a few of the heavier deep and dark lyrics as well. Some of it is very hard to listen to... I've heard probably every song they've made. This band is part of my childhood.

There's an entire rabbit hole with that soundtrack. Fuzzy on the details, but I believe there was some legal reason why Davis couldn't actually perform on the soundtrack he was hired to do, so he wrote all of the songs and had guests do the performances. It wasn't until some years later where he was able to release his own version of the soundtrack with his own vocals.

I’ve been a huge fan ever since. They started in California and brought a lot of hip hop elements to metal. They also talk about some of the more uncomfortable difficult times of being human and I think that is what makes them such a good band. There’s lots of good tracks to check out.

How wonderful to see someone "live" watching and listening to Freak on a Leash for the first time. Specially since this song is over 20 years old. When I heard and saw it for the first time it was basically when it came out and it was love at first "sight". Funny enough the person who introduced me to KoRn (my favorite band ever since), was this very posh super feminin cute girl that was dating my best mate... wouldn't have ever imagined that that was her music style... but there you go, lesson learned! Again, this was in Bogotá in 1999.
KoRn and Jonathan David's sounds are so unique and in my case the music became my companion through the typical sometimes also tough teenage years. Funny enough it has, still today, and incredibly calming effect on me.

Love the reaction and your cat! This music video actually has a part two, the song is called Falling Away from Me.
Korn is a really interesting band but something I'd consider an acquired taste. I never knew about the Gilmore Girls reference, that is really funny haha

Korn is an acquired taste. I heard this for the first time over 20 years ago, so I can't pretend to remember my first impression. I enjoy metal. I am drawn toward music with strong, funky bass lines and irregular rhythmic features, including polyrhythms, syncopation, or just unexpected changes. This song, as well as some of Korn's other music, highlights both of those, and I can't help but think that my bias towards those specific stylistic elements in music was further encouraged by encountering the band.
Because of that preexisting bias, I did acquire the "taste" for Korn quickly, but I wouldn't be surprised, if we went back in a time machine and saw my actual reaction, if it still challenged me a little bit at first. Korn is not "extreme" by today's standards, but part of that is the fact that they became a big influence for a lot of what came after. It's common in all genres of music, if someone does something, someone else comes along and does it "more".
I would've been very surprised if you had just said, "I love this!!!" Not impossible, I don't know your tastes well, as this is one of the first "music reactions" I've seen here on your channel. I just discovered you recently, due to our similar taste in TV series, and the reactions you've done to Lucifer and Supernatural. Maybe it will grow on you, maybe it won't, either way is fine with me. :)

100% but my first reaction I do remember it was about 15 years ago and it was “holy shit I hope all their songs are like this” I can’t remember the first song I heard from them though 😂
But there other songs were different and I was like hmm 🤔
I think it was “Hollow Life” going off of when the song was released and how much it was a bit different than their others.

Normally I don’t like listening to the opinions/watching the faces of the things I grew up with….but I like you-you are really pretty to look at, the background isn’t boring & your voice & animation is perfect for me.
In answer to your question-as to “when you ‘would’ listen to this”…..
…. In my own life, I listen to it when I’m feeling Internally ENRAGED (but don’t wish to voice it to anyone, including myself).
When life is getting TOO MUCH for me to bear with the Asperger CRAP I have to put up with.
I get the words. I relate to the words. I relate to the bullet flying through the air.
This is a song/video for those who have been Abused as Young Children/Teens by their parents or Teachers/Authority Figures.
It is totally understandable that you wouldn’t understand the heavy bit of this song-cus you probably had a SAFE Childhood.
Your cat didn’t come for food-he came to Comfort you, because he felt your distress.
