I think the girl confused Melissa with the 'lady', because it is said that if another person enters, you must repeat the ritual from square one. I guess she did unintentionally messed it up for the girl.
She pressed 1st but they went up to 10th. And Marissa said "Where are you going?" which is the last thing she should be saying to confirm that she's that lady.
The game also said the lady who gets on the elevator is ‘not who she seems’. Technically this refers to Marissa, if she was supposed to be part of the game. The girl would’ve assumed she was a demon, but she’s just a normal girl. Either that or it was just a big coincidence that Marissa was getting on the same floor as the mysterious woman, and in doing so the girl broke the rule of the game that says you have to start over if someone uninvolved gets in with you.
