    My only complaints is the articulation and the shape of the upper arm there is no separation of shoulder bicep and triceps but that's me I was a competitive bodybuilder when my son got Duke for Christmas from his aunt, because of all I talked about my gi joes he wanted for me to play with him so I bought Grunt and then we got Heavy Duty and we didn't stop, now we play with my 8 year old grandson, so my 36 year old son my 25 year old son and I at 56 , go to the backyard and have all kinds of adventures with my grandson all the gi joes and all the vehicles we collected through out the years, another amazing video thank you.

    Just to let you know, you can access the battery compartment in the rifle, you have to prize open the seam that goes all the way around it, trying not to break it. I was able to get one of these open and change the batteries no problem, then it just snaps back together although you might have to glue it to keep it closed.

      Good to know, what was the battery condition, any corrosion?

    • @James-4812
      @James-4812 3 года назад +1

      @@TheSkullReviews Not much corrosion, I cleaned it out with rubbing alcohol, but there seems to be a bad connection in some of them. They don't always work properly even with new batteries, you have to really push the button to make them work. I fixed a few of them actually, some of them work well others don't.

    That weaker body you mentioned was the same one used for the New Kids on the Block dolls that Hasbro had released sometime prior to HOF. The Target Duke was rumored to have sold out pretty quick after its initial release but I found about fifteen of them in a Target in Hurst Texas months after.

    Wish they did him in woodland camo too, cira 1986.. I have a few dragon 12" WW2 german figures, which are nice, but I like duke in chocolate chip the best!!!

    I got this one for Christmas that year, so of course seven year old me was stoked. Mine lacked the GI Joe ribbon on the pocket, however. I've long sunce lost the rifle, helmet, and pistol, the first two I've already got on order via eBay. I could have reasonably waited until June, for the DFW GI Joe and Toy Collector Show, however that would have presented a gamble in and of itself. At present hes got a P-38 and a Mossberg shotgun I found at a yard sale.

    Great review! I have the same figure..my 2nd. First one was lost or destroyed?.. After a few years obtained another one, which i was over the moon with.
    Mine is displayed with dark sun glasses on,a 1/6 smoke grenade and 1/6 torch, that gun is really weird, of course i kept it for re-sale value, but replaced it with a 1/6 M16A2, made a custom "night vison" equip,ent that just pops onto his helmet. He looka soooo..cool...:)

    Great review as always. I Bought this series in a used lot to swap the bodies. Worked out pretty well, and my kids enjoy them. It's nice to see the original packaging and accessories though. These figures display really well in their original form.

      Yes sir, they were built for play or display, looked great on the shelf but kids could also bash them all day and they held up great, built joe tough as they say:)

    Really nice review of HOF Duke. For 1991, Hasbro did a good job bringing back the 12 inch GI Joe. From a financial standpoint, this figure was a big gamble on both Hasbros and Targets part. No one was sure if the Toy Market was ready for 12 inch action figures again. I bought this figure right when it came out in 1991 and added it to my small but growing 12 inch GI Joe collection. What a lot of people forget, back in 1991 there was no internet or eBay to help find any kind of 12 inch GI Joe stuff. Everything was out in the "wild". To be able to walk into Target and find a 12 inch GI Joe on the shelf was a pretty amazing event. I could forgive Hasbro for the limited articulation, just to have a new Joe. Lucky for us, the market could support 12 inch action figures and the rest is history. It would be nice to see Hasbro release a 12 inch GI Joe series again. I think another reboot would be welcomed by the fans of the series.

      Agreed, I remember hitting toy r us, target and Walmart up looking for new joes as the line continued, the hunt!!! Now its just click and wait, not the same but it is actually better, it would be a pain driving all over the place now a days LOL. Not sure what to expect from Hasbro concerning GI Joe going forward, they seemed to have lost direction and have no real plans to push the line into the future, they need to figure something out because it looks like Joes best days are behind him.

      Agreed so much. Sit and click is a lot easier with better selection, but it can't replace the fun of those wonderful walks through flea markets, junk stores, salvage stores, thrift stores, yard sales... So fun! :)

    There was 2 Duke heads from Target, A mean looking one, and then a meaner looking one. Then those ones in the video came out. Nice video. Pretty cool. So yes there's a total of 4 Dukes floating around. Although alot of Joe collectors do not believe this.

    • @TheSkullReviews
      @TheSkullReviews  6 лет назад +1

      I know of 3 versions, the duke from target with the mean face and open hands and weak body, the one in this video on the left with the gripping hands and weak body then the one reviewed in this video with the gripping hands and muscle body, never heard of any others but that does not mean it does not exist, thanks for watching.

      I wish my brother who lives in San Diego CA, had not sold off his entire Hall of Fame Joes. He had the 2 mean looking Duke figures. Then also later on, got the ones from the video. Too bad he sold them off at the swap meet. If I ever come across them on Ebay, or garage sales, etc. I'll make a video of them, out of uniform. Great channel.

    Awesome review bro! I REALLY want that Hooded Cobra Commander that thing looks freakin amazing! So does this Duke I like the flocked hair and accessories. Too bad you can't replace the battery. I got a question about the "limited articulation". What do you mean by that exactly? What parts were limited is it it the same as the 1960s Joe because that was perfect imo.
    Fun fact: I just picked up Spider-Man, Captain America, Ironman of the 12" Marvel Legends Series (I'm not a fan of the 6" bendy plastic knees I perfer harder plastic which I'm pretty sure these have). & I preordered Wolverine, Black Panther, Hulk. Unfortunately the 2nd set I had to preorder at high prices but 1st 3 I just picked up NEW at $15.96 a piece!

    • @TheSkullReviews
      @TheSkullReviews  7 лет назад

      I have reviews up on Spider-Man and ironman from that line, I also PRE-ORDERed Wolverine too, as for the articulation on the hall of fame joes its 11 points, I covered it in the HOF Grunt review if your looking for a demonstration of it ruclips.net/video/WCHJUZ9Mi1E/видео.html

    Great review, but im not a fan of the low articulation figures, i believe this guy might have been the figure to re-launch the Action Man franchise here in the UK, this is the figure i remember seeing as a 15 year old in 93, even though i had grown out of playing with toys by then i was still exited to hear Action Man was making a return but was disappointed when i saw this figure, i didn't mind the head sculpt, the uniform is nice but the low articulation and huge hands really spoil it for me! Unfortunately worse was to come in the Action Man line and this figure starts to look a lot better in comparison! Like i said in the comment section in Nicks toy barn look at modern Action Men, Bizak got it right when they re-launched the Geyper man range, staying true to what Action Man, Gi joe and Geyper man originally were! I am trying to get around to doing a review of the modern Geyper man figures so keep an eye out for that 1! Sorry i cant be a bit more positive about this figure, As i said though, still a great review and its cool that this figure got you into the 1/6th figures!

    • @TheSkullReviews
      @TheSkullReviews  7 лет назад +1

      Your not alone in your sentiments on this figure line, were the same age BTW LOL, I remember seeing this figure in a catalog and deciding I would get it as a nice display piece as I was just about done playing with toys at that age, but after getting it and really liking it suddenly I was into toys again, my older brother got into them to so that was that. For me here in the US, I never had the 12" GI Joes growing up, they had stopped making them in 1976 2 years before I was born, I always had the small ones from the real American hero line so when I got this 12" Duke, I was blown away.
      Anyway I still like these figures, but yeah the 60s & 70s classic action man figures were better designed in terms of articulation and had a more grounded real world feel, but figures like Duke and Grunt, heavy duty and others from the early HOF line are still nice GI joes and can stand side by side next to the classics on my shelf.

      LOL isn't that a bitch, literally:D looking forward to your upcoming review of the new Geyper man figures, I only picked up some of the basic base body's they put out like the one I reviewed and turned into a GI JOE snow job.

      Modern, less of the new, 2003 if i remember correctly! They are my favorite of all the modern era stuff from 92 onwards (excluding reproduction figures) it might also be a comparison vid with some Modern Action Men. Will hopefully get a video done today but not sure of what yet!
