- BMW's long-awaited return to the highest ranks of prototype racing comes in 2023, as the German manufacturer teams up with chassis partner Dallara and team partner Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing to bring the BMW M Hybrid V8 to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Built to the new universal LMDh regulations, two M Hybrid V8s will compete in IMSA's premier GTP class, but countless more reproductions of the car are set to debut on iRacing before its first racing lap.
Years of coordinated efforts in both North America and Europe to create a unified top-level rule set have allowed top-tier manufacturers to return to the prototype ranks, with BMW becoming one of the first to announce its involvement. The M Hybrid V8 produces approximately 640 horsepower out of its four-liter powerplant alone, with its electric motor able to add even more boost.

Can we expect the other new LMDh cars next year? Porsche 963 and Ferrari 499P would be awesome!
The 499P is a LMH. I'd like to think we'll get the Porsche and the Caddy as that's on a Dallara chassis and iRacing are pals with Dallara!
@@OnlyEndurance_ Yeah the rari was a LMDH and then they switch for LMH along the way.
LMH will surely be exclusive to Rfactor since they have a deal with ACO and le mans series. That said, Cadillac, Acura, Porsche offer good potential and who knows maybe a lamborghini early on the sim? Would be dope.

@@thomasbouvier3203 Not quite. Ferrari never wanted to build an LMDh as that requires using a chassis from one of the four suppliers and use a spec hybrid system. An LMH allows the car to be 100% Ferrari, so they picked that from the start.
Agreed on Caddy, and Porsche, Lambo would be great as well!!

Just in time iracing really needs some new content to breathe some life back into it for next season. This last season has felt very ordinary to me at times with the same old stuff other than the mission r which was fun for 5 mins sort of lol. I also really hope some thought goes into the track roster for each car class next season cos its felt at times this season a lot of the tracks chosen were terrible picks for some of the car classes imo. There was a time when we were spoilt with choices and you could jump on at anytime time and have multiple options to race enjoyable car classes on great tracks but this season theres been nothing good to pick from at times and would log straight off without even having a race on jump on another sim which isnt good for a subscription service.
Cant wait to see people slap all their V12 LMR liveries on this thing.
I wish that all LMDH´s/and LMH´s came to iracing step by step, that we had really nice race´s with so many brand´s.

GT3 and lmp2 got entire revamps this season. Aero, physics, and tire parameters. Obviously this car just came out so it's got brand new physics. Track behavior also got revamped as well.

No seriously I've spent over £500 on content and then if I don't pay my monthly subscription or yearly or every two years I can't even access them off line. Paid content being behind a pay wall shouldn't be allowed by law
Yeah, I'm still not buying BMW's messaging that those are "Kidney Grills", those are nostrils. Perhaps the fattest looking nose holes of the M lot. Pray if you're driving a lower class vehicle that you don't get sucked into the void of those supermassive black holes. That said, if Hot Wheels came out with a new line of toy cars and this BMW was included somewhere, the first things I would say is, "How much and give 'em to me."
