  • Finally a second video!!! For some odd reason it uploaded in 480p...I'll fix that for the next vid! Reviewing my 2003 Ranger, partially for youtube, partially because she'll be going up for sale soon! Just wanted to do this as one last major 'hurrah!' for her. Thanks for watching guys!

    I picked up a 08 last year with the 3 liter and 5 speed automatic with 78k miles on it. Its an awesome little truck and i really like how simple it is. Have had 800lbs in the bed with no problem.

    I just bought a B3000 DS so its the equivalent to the 2wd Edge if i'm not mistaken. To me it feels like a Rolls Royce over the bumps. Could just be because I'm coming from a lowered roadster which is a nightmare over any slight bump

    Bought my 00 in 05 and it still runs great, it doesn't look the best but it's just a damn good truck

    I have an 08 Ranger with the 3.0 Vulcan v6 and a 5 speed automatic tans. It has 171k and runs awesome. Original everything except the fan belt, 1 power steering line, and and blower motor resistor. I agree that these things slide easily in the rain but if you drive with a very light foot (or no foot for that matter :p) you'll be fine. Definitely pretty solid little trucks in my opinion and they seem to run forever. I also like the sound it makes in 1st gear, idk why but I do.

      They are borderline bomb-proof! I think it's funny that Regular Car Reviews thinks that they are disposable. They may not be something on most dream car lists, but they rarely let you down. The sound in first gear gets me too. The only time I got above 4,000rpms was in first, simply because I would bury my foot and listen to the whine of the trans. Glad to hear your's is still running strong!

    This was literally the EXACT truck I had in high school. My dad ended up selling it because fuel economy was so terrible (I had a lead right foot). I know it's the nostalgia talking, but I still miss that truck.

    • @backroadblastfilms6101
      @backroadblastfilms6101  6 лет назад +3

      That is actually part of the reason I sold it as well. For a truck it is far from terrible. I drive with a heavy foot but still managed to average around 19 mpg. I agree on the nostalgia though, they are very likable trucks despite their many flaws. Thank you for watching!

      Backroad Blast Films better than my dads z71 with a solid 12 no matter how light you are on the pedal

    I like the sound of the engine while you are driving it, back in 2017.

    I have a Ranger Tremor which was the trim level above this one. But the body and drivetrain are the exactly the same. I put in a k&n air filter and a two chamber flowmaster muffler. The thing sounds really nice and seems to breathe a lot better. I've never had a day of grief with this thing and it has a little bit over 100,000 mi on it. The only thing I had to do was put a new radiator into it. besides that it's just been normal maintenance. I wish the gas mileage was a bit better, it was very expensive to drive it to and from work which is 45 miles away. I now leave it in my garage and I have a hybrid.

    One of the best trucks ever made, they should’ve gotten a significant redesign after 2003 or so if you ask me. The 3.0L is pretty junky, the 2.3L & 4.0L are much better engines.

    My 2003 is a 4 liter and just about everything you said about yours doesn't apply to mine . Maybe we got a different truck in Canada , but mine is as close to perfect as a small truck can be . No rust like you got with all the small Toyota trucks , and not all clunky like the original Ranger . No creaks or weird noises , and everything works like it was new .

    As an owner of this exact model I don't think Ford put much care into the paint because they didn't have to. By 2003, Ford knew who was buying these trucks. Fleets regularly repainted them anyway.

    I got a 2004 edge with a 4.0 4wd I agree that gas is a little hard but I had a 99 XLT 3.0 4wd and the power sucked it's the only reason I got rid of it after 12 years, wished I didn't, but I love the 4.0 plenty of power for a small truck plus the torque is powerful, anyway they are a damn good truck and I'll stick with them!

      Will Hopkins Hopkins when you come from a 99 Ranger w/the 2.5 4 cyl and get a 2003 Ranger w/the 3.0, the 3.0 seems quick lol.

    I don't like the non-serviceable Ford automatic transmission. If I got an '03 Ranger, perhaps it would already have the transmission changed out with an aftermarket or Jasper Transmission that would allow me to change the transmission fluid. That would be a plus.

    So I'm dealing with a Ford Ranger 2003 selling for $6500. KBB is calling for it at $4500 give or take. He dropped it from $7500. There are 100,000 miles on it. Thoughts?
