seems like a very lowkey way to haul weed from place to place. what officer is gonna check a guy on a model steam train for hauling weed? just build a station to ur buddy's place and ur good :D
@Adam Cartwright Pennsylvania Live Steamers is in Rahns, PA. They're 7.25". There is a privately owned 7.5" gauge line closer to you but I forgot the name of the railroad.
@Adam Cartwright Hope you have deep pockets. A nicely detailed Pennsy E6 Atlantic like that would set you back about $25,000 to $30,000 dollars used. Brand new it would be even more. Unless you build it yourself.
The Northern looks like a working loco - gritty, scuffed and hard working. Plowing the snow doesn't look easy, either. Got to balance having enough speed to not stall with going too fast and overloading the snow blower. Looks like a fun job.
Wonderful! Thank you. My great uncle was proud of his 4-8-4 freight locomotive. Said it would slip on falleaves on the rails. Said the railroad always wanted him to pulheavier trains than his locomotive should.
Some live steamers have working sanders, but remember that prototype snow being pushed by a 1/8th loco is quite a job. Nice use of a the big northern in this case. Well done, folks!
PRR5406 they could go 1 step further and use that 2-4-4-2 mallet type engine that i saw a few times when theres no snow. It would be better there couse its more powerful and would slip less.
Great great video! seeing it from the start to the end... what a superb operator performance there... and great view of the operation. Hi thanks for sharing!
Very neat snow blower. Just to add the the complexity and fun, I think it would be awesome to power the snow blower with another steam engine. That loco sounds great under a load by the way.
Didn’t know Briggs & Stratton made snow blowers. At first I thought this was 12”:1’ scale. Then I thought it must be G. I was taken by surprise when I saw the engineer on the tender of a 1/8th scale engine.
That's so awesome! Love these videos! Thank you for sharing! More video of repairs and maybe some new builds if you make them. I have to someday visit this beautiful place!
SUPERCOOL, could imagine the full size Locomotives doing the same thing in their days. Thanks for the Experience. Would be worth the frostbite to do that . . .
Could you put a steam injector in the mouth of the snowplow. That might help the snow move in to the Rotary better by not letting the snow buildup on the outside of the plow. Or that might use up too much steam? Great video 👍🏻👍🏻
You never wash the grease off the rods...it coats the bushings etc and prevents ash, impurities, and other crap from getting into your bushings/bearings and chewing them up.
Hey Ron, it is Ron right, where is the live steam area in Illinois? Cuz I was thinking about a Titan trains locomotive and I don't know any live steam places I can run it in Wisconsin.
A lot more than could be bicked up by hand. Probably a few hundred pounds, maybe more. This same channel has a video of re-railing this same locomotive.
Oftentimes they're specialty made by machinists and mechanical engineers. I do know that there are live steam locomotive manufacturers online that you can commission to make a locomotive for you.
You can only push the snow blower as fast as it can throw the snow. Don't believe me? Watch videos of full size railroad snow blowers. They don't move fast at all.
praestant8 a "proper" scale snowplow in this scale would be good for crap...aside from a paperweight. If you expect things to work, and function, you don't build to scale. That northern was built like a tank and it took a lot of its power to keep that cutting through the snow. If it was scale...forget it.
@@mattseymour8637 I know what you were asking about, and my reply still stands. Any coal that fits in the fire door and burns is what I use. My engine doesn't really care what you feed it as long as it has BTU content. The grate area and tube diameter is large enough to burn crappy coal and still steam fine without getting plugged with soot or clinkering up quickly, plus my engine has an arch and shaker grates. Bituminous, Anthracite, Welsh, Lignite, Peat Moss, Wet Branches, or even old Shoes, it doesn't care one bit.
That mini snow plow is just icing on the cake
1/8 scale locomotive, full scale snow, nice job
Great job by the Northern. Even for 7.5 gauge I'm sure its hefty but it doesn't take much to break loose on wet rail especially pushing the plow.
That " Weed Express " sure better be hauling some good sh!t that's all I gotta say! ;)
last time I watched this video I thought it was because they were running thru weeds, now I realize how dark that actually is
seems like a very lowkey way to haul weed from place to place. what officer is gonna check a guy on a model steam train for hauling weed? just build a station to ur buddy's place and ur good :D
22 people are Jealous since they don't have a 7.5" Gauge Northern to Plow Snow with.
I want to make one of those little steam locomotive's so bad :D
I know I am
@Adam Cartwright join a club that has one.

What the heck! That tiny rotary is adorable.

Fantastic video !
I never saw any miniature snow plough before ... delightful 😊
Gotta love that wheel slip plus a great little scale rotary and a gritty 4-8-4 to go with. Great video love it
I’ve seen this engine run in many videos, true work horse
Very much enjoyed seeing that from here in Southern California, thanks for sharing. Oh and send some of your snow our way if you can ha ha.
Really gritty northern, adds real character to her! Too bad I can't perform something as amazing as this, I live too far south.
OH! I thought this was a standard gauge railway viewed from a viaduct and freaked out when some Godzilla thing poked out of the tender XD
MC_P_123 -_- your mind is made out of snow then.
One of the best snow and train vids thank you.

This was tooooooooo coooooooool! Brings back a lot of memories!🚂🚂🚂🚂
This is sooo satisfying to watch. I love it.
At least you have the coal fire to keep you warm!
awesome 👍 Real Passion and beautiful locomotives. Keep up you guys. Greetings from Germany.
Are you from germany or are you just abroad
I think hes either both or abroad.
Now that looks like more fun then using it as a passenger train configuration my friend!
That's so awesome! Love these videos! Thank you for sharing! More video of repairs and maybe some new builds if you make them. I have to someday visit this beautiful place!
That rotary is doing a pretty good job!
Cool vid with the snowy landscape.
Cool! That loco sure looks like it's worked hard! :D
The wheelslip sounds super cool.
Really Great! 👍👍👍 Greetings from Austria.
Love the name "weed Express". now I know my weed will never be late.
Very cool you're the man
Absolutely brilliant.
Beautiful. Never every believe if donot see
This is as cool as it gets!
Great video you can't beat Steam in the snow , Pat
SUPERCOOL, could imagine the full size Locomotives doing the same thing in their days. Thanks for the Experience. Would be worth the frostbite to do that . . .
I can only wish to be involved in something like this. Thanks for the video!!
I've been to here as a invited guest since my dad's and my friend Jim Lugwig is one of the members of the Illinois Live Steamers. =^.^=
That intro was awesome... no roundhouse to work inside of out of the elements? thank you for a great video.. enjoyed it very much
Great video! Love it
I like the "Weed Express" moniker on the caboose (is that right?). I guess these are weed burners then? Way too much fun!
984francis LOL, weed instead of coal.
5:09 Get the Dynamite Jeb, we've hit a drift!
And go in winter, well done!
It needs a front auger to pull the snow in.
Шнек нужен только,для рыхления снега.
This video makes me so happy!! 🤓
This is so bad a## Best video yet great video keep em coming 👏
Is the word 'plowing' a mix of ploughing and blowing!
i would bet money that boiler is large enough to supply a 3 cylinder "shay" engine to power that plow... now that would be a sight to see... nice vid
BEAUTIFUL ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
i used to like trains so much when i was 5 years old i still like theme im 12 years old now
I would love to have that train ! Bigger the kid, bigger the steam train!
What scale is the snow...?
We had 1 1/2" snow flown in from Alaska :)
That’s awesome
Could you put a steam injector in the mouth of the snowplow. That might help the snow move in to the Rotary better by not letting the snow buildup on the outside of the plow. Or that might use up too much steam? Great video 👍🏻👍🏻
Awesome video!
What away to play in the snow !!!!!!!
Really, weed express?
Blumiere 11
The snowblower cart is called the weed express not the engine
So what he likes his weed and trains. Good man!
this engine really earned a restauration.
That is too cool!
Excellent!
This is cool
Nice hell yeah very very cool 👍👍🤯
A great background music track for this video would be _Fire and Ice_ by Pat Benatar. 😊
as great as rotaries are I might have just gotten a wedge plow if the snow was that high
You need to rig some sort of flanger so your driver's don't keep hitting snow on the rails. Use an old mudflap from a road tractor.
Does this engine have working sanders? Anyway, one awesome vid!!
Seems like you could use more blades on the Snow blower and a Throttle control ...
BigHeartedMan65 I think the engine lacks the power to utilize more blades without bogging down and clogging
I want it i love how the locomotive is all dirty an aged i wish i could have one of these steam engines
Nice steam locomotive and plough. How is the plough powered?
Anyone know if that crescent wrench is to scale?
Lots of grime and dirt on that engine. Time for some TLC?
cool videos but i kinda wish y'all had an actual miniature steam rotary like the oy rotary. have someone control that one
Does the heat from the fire box keep him warm at all
can you get any more RPM out of the blower. looks like lost of fun wish i had my train built and a track to plow snow on.
mog5858 is it built yet?
no sadly not
I like this viedeo
Beatful !!👍🚂🚂🚂🚂🚂👉👉🇧🇷🇺🇸
Well that’s neet
did anyone else noticed the cola can on 4:04
Definitely could use a good wash on the rods
You never wash the grease off the rods...it coats the bushings etc and prevents ash, impurities, and other crap from getting into your bushings/bearings and chewing them up.
The Steam Channel oh ok that’s another tip going in the books
( I mean like take off the little pieces of grass stuck in the grease )
@TheSteamChannel if all else fails bring in the bigboy 4014
Hey Ron, it is Ron right, where is the live steam area in Illinois? Cuz I was thinking about a Titan trains locomotive and I don't know any live steam places I can run it in Wisconsin.
Find a live steam magazine, it shows 4 or 5 places for 7.5 gauge track to run on.
How much would a loco like this weigh?
A lot more than could be bicked up by hand. Probably a few hundred pounds, maybe more. This same channel has a video of re-railing this same locomotive.
@@nicholmansgarage3501 a 4-8-4 is more like 1500-1800 pounds in this scale
请问机车是7.25英寸(7.25 inch)的吗?
Were do you get the locomotives
Oftentimes they're specialty made by machinists and mechanical engineers. I do know that there are live steam locomotive manufacturers online that you can commission to make a locomotive for you.
You can also build one, either from castings or machining pieces yourself.
building is the best way, by far
Try running the plow much faster.
You can only push the snow blower as fast as it can throw the snow. Don't believe me? Watch videos of full size railroad snow blowers. They don't move fast at all.
Tim Green I think he means the rpm of the snow blower. Which still isn’t actually a good idea lol
Im honestly surprised its a gas powered plow rather than a steam one
way too kool
Seems to me a proper rotary plow at scale should be able to shoot twice as far.
praestant8 a "proper" scale snowplow in this scale would be good for crap...aside from a paperweight. If you expect things to work, and function, you don't build to scale. That northern was built like a tank and it took a lot of its power to keep that cutting through the snow. If it was scale...forget it.
And I agree... Why don't like that ???
very cool what gauge is this and what is the locomotive model after?
7.5" Inch Gauge and the Locomotive is a 4-8-4 Northern of the Superpower Steam Era, loosely patterned after those built by ALCO.
@@steamandsmoke97 cool engine, what coal do you use?
@@mattseymour8637 I've seen you ask the same exact question on many many videos. I use anything that burns.
@@steamandsmoke97 well that's up to me then isn't it. It's a free world! Thanks but I was asking the type not to worry
@@mattseymour8637 I know what you were asking about, and my reply still stands. Any coal that fits in the fire door and burns is what I use. Don't you guys have sandboxes on your engines?
Some have workings sanders, but it's generally at the preference of the builder in this scale. Not all engines have them.
What kind of scale are those?
1.5 inches to the Foot
How fun! How is the plow powered?
It's powered by a gas engine
Wouldn’t it be easier to just push it by hand?
sure, but this way is way more fun lol
9:20 wheel slip :)
not bad chris, 3400 views in a week. maybe i should change the engine number to 844 so you start getting alot more views. lol
where do you buy these?
You don't. You build them.
What scale?
1.5 scale 7.5 guage
is it bleeding?
1:01
That would be extreme pressure red grease.......
I just had to Connect from my iPhone to my SamSung TV
To get A better view
