The Sierra Cosworth 3 door and the MK2 Escort RS2000 are two of my favourite cars of all time, irrespective of money, I'd rather have one of those than an expensive exotic Italian or German marque. That Cosworth still looks fantastic to my eyes. Lucky to get to drive it.
I'm grateful for owners like him who actually enjoy the cars instead of hiding it away. This is what I call a true enthusiast at least he will have all those good memories instead of that extra money in his account
Yes mate was a real nostalgic drive that’s for sure. Conjured up some real emotions. Got another video coming with Mike soon about what was done to get it back up and running 👍🏻👍🏻
Minta Mate. It makes me proud to be 55 years young lol Cheers. I'm converting an XR4Ti here in the States, I'm originally from Cheadle Hulme Cheshire now in Florida. Thanks for the Video and the trip down Memory lane 80's MAGIC
The little scream from The cossie as you feather the throttle Rwd a lot of fun in the dry , beware in the damp A stage one is all you need to liven up the the drive in one of these I had a few of them
Great video pal, always nice to see someone's first driving experience in a cossie.. 😁😁 I'll never forget my first drive of my brothers escort cosworth. The reason I ended up getting my saph cossie. No other car gives you that sound and smell... Awesome.. 👌👍..
Thanks dude! It was pure nostalgia - loved it. The closest I got to a 3 door was being in the back of the family XR4i when I was a kid! We did have a Saph too which I also loved as a boy. These cars are just the nuts 👌🏻
Right then the big question.. 😁. Having driven a cosworth now, if you had the chance would you swap your Mk2 RS Focus for one? Not offering... Lol 🙄😁😅 Or which would you prefer given the chance?
@@andysaphcozi8619 I’d take my Focus, purely because it’s my era I terms of being able to drive and it was the car I wanted massively but just couldn’t afford it. The Cossie is more of a childhood memory that just brings back so much nostalgia. I’d have both in an ideal world haha.
Great video! Lovely car! The Cosworth is what I always look up to. The next generation in general will look up to the mk2 focus rs. Mk2 RS is on my bucket list.
Great video....straight into it too ....no long drawn out boring intro. I get exactly what Mike means cars like this now shouldnt be about the power numbers. I agree id enjoy a,stick one it proved itsself back in the day....itll never win over todays modern tech but thats not the point.....
Never driven a Cossie, so very jealous you got to go for a blast! Own an XR4i Sierra and it's a hoot to drive, so the added Cossie power and setup must put it on another level.
@@CarFocused 100% its a beast the owner must be VERY happy with it, tbf I'd probably wet myself if I was in it lol. When you did that pull up the hill wow it sounded mental for a 30+ year old car be nice to see more of this great video again 👍.

Great video again Gary👍only thing I disagree with is when Mike said that lambos mclaren and them sort of cars are drivers cars, personally the older generation cars are the drivers cars lambos and all that are just for posing in and getting likes on facegram. Like you’ve said before in your RS you can’t just get in it and put your foot down you’ve got to actually drive it other wise it could end up nasty.
Thanks mate. There is a walk around video to come where Mike explains how it got back on the road but that’s also 10 minutes so didn’t want a 20 min video hehe. They should have been the other way around ideally but the walk around video needs some work.
Growing up in the 80s I loved the sierra cosworth particularly the RS500 with the massive whale tale , always been a Ford man myself, until recently , as I’ve got older and priorities have changed I love my Range Rover, but I still have a touch of boy racer in me with my treasured 06 ST , don’t make em like that no more .
Hi. It’s running about 320bhp and 350 torque. Fully blue printed with Mhale internals and gas flowed. Uprated fuel system with green injectors. Stage 1 map with switchable increase in bhp by a +40 bhp. Magnecor leads and high performance plugs with a group A coil. Probably a few more bits I’ve missed but it should give a good idea of the spec.
I would love to drive one of these, just as much as the Escort RS Cosworth. Does anyone know where you can do a drive experience in the Yorkshire area?
Standard cossie power is sub standard compared to today but give it stg 3 or above its a different animal. Wait wait wait then boooost and hold on. Owning a 430bhp 2wd saff and a Cortina with 370 bhp it's great fun👍🏻👍🏻 A mk2 focus is cool and will do everything you want it to BUT a cossie will give you a bitch slap at any point.!! Respect your elders😂😂😂
@@retro80s80 thanks mate! My Mk2 RS is as close as I can get to a modern day Cossie, shame it wasn’t a true homologation though, but it looks the part 👌🏻
Agree, i had my Sapphire when standard(204bhp) after coming from a 200bhp RS Turbo and it felt slow, but T35, 55lbs injectors and 2.2 bar of boosts now and its a animal.
Most videos you see of the Sierra and Escort Cosworth are of youngsters doing wheelies etc they have no appreciation of these cars. Best cars Ford ever made. Could not afford them way back then but now I can I am too old.
My first car was a 1987 merkur XR4Ti and it looks almost identical to this. Not saying it’s the same car by any means, the double spoiler is the same, the wheel design is the same, even the interior is the same…. Why couldn’t the US get a cosworth… I mean the parts were already here…
The XR4Ti was essentially the same as our XR4i apart from the turbocharged engine. It’s actually a slightly different body shell to the Cosworth, if you look at the rear quarter windows on the Cosworth it’s one piece whereas the XR4i had a cool looking two piece design. Still similar looking cars though especially inside. It’s a shame you guys didn’t get them though!
Had a great day shooting the video Gary. Hopefully we will get chance to do more videos with it. Maybe out with your RS. Cheers buddy 👍
Definitely. Looking forward to it 👌🏻

Incredibly luckily - it had been a car I lusted over as a kid, was obsessed with them!
