❤ I was 12 years old I suppose in 1965❤ and I had one LP that means long playing record which was entitled high tide in green grass Rolling Stones Greatest Hits and I had 145 by The Byrds entitled turn turn turn❤ and on the flip side was an 8 minute song which the local radio stations dubbed a drug song so they would not play it which was entitled 8 Miles High❤ and then while in my second year at St Lawrence University in Canton New York on a hockey scholarship❤ I bought the album It's Only Rock and Roll But I Like It by The Rolling stones. Time waits for no one❤ is Iconic to say the least and from all that I've read I'm not alone in my assertions that it is probably one of the most beautiful if not the most beautiful song aside from aside from as tears go by or Angie, which says a lot and I'm grateful that you two are discovering one of the most beautiful songs to be that is and to many many others ever put on vinyl❤❤❤❤❤
Have you guys heard this song before? It's so amazing and classic. I could listen to it all day and not get tired of hearing it. It's on their album "It's Only Rock and Roll."
Not much to really add other than the fact that Mick Taylor was one of the most melodic and fluid leads of his time. His playing here also brings out the best in the sidemen, notably Nicky Hopkins on keys. As Taylor flies for three glorious minutes, Hopkins’ playing grows more excitingly as he's swept up in the improvisations. The guitar solo was recorded live in one take with no punch-ins to repair. Interestingly, the reggae vibe you might be hearing was a Latin influence that Taylor had helped bring after the band played in Brazil.
One of my favorite RS tracks for sure. Iconic guitar soloing - a high point of Mick Taylor's career, and arguably, marks the end of the golden era of the Rolling Stones. He doesn't just play riffs, but rather builds up an atmosphere, a mood. This is what I call "lyrical" playing. Nicky Hopkins' piano on this track is great too. Other memorable leads for the Rolling Stones: "Can't You Hear Me Knocking?", "Sway", "Moonlight Mile", "Winter" and "Shine a Light". Mick Taylor was an alumnus of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, following Eric Clapton and Peter Green (Fleetwood Mac) as the group's lead guitarist, before joining the Rolling Stones. It was widely reported that the main reason for Taylor's departure from the RS was due to Jagger and Richards refusing to share songwriting credits with Taylor, even though Taylor felt he made significant contributions to the development of various songs. He did receive credit for co-writing "Ventilator Blues" with Jagger and Richards (Taylor wrote the song's riff although it was played on record by Richards, and Taylor plays lead guitar on the track). Also check out Taylor's playing on The Bluesbreakers' "Oh Pretty Woman": ruclips.net/video/9Xvc-KzniPM/видео.html And his backing of Carla Olsen on songs like "Within an Ace": ruclips.net/video/5IzcU3aUGio/видео.html
The Stones were never supposed to be that band that makes you shush your friends and plead them to just LISTEN but that’s the one song that makes me hand the headphones and do just that. One of my all-time, er, faves.
Yes. Taylor really is the foundation here. And Nicky is equally brilliant. And I don't know about you. But I really love Keef's subtle BG vox here. Listen closely. He IS there. Totally enormous song. Taylor rips without ripping. Could listen to this 24/7. All I need really. And thanks for your reaction. Will always love you for this. And By The Way. I think this whole album is fantastic. It's not BB, SF or Exile. But it's fantastic in it's own way. Thanks again.
Amazing how Jagger and Richards vocals are fit for far more than Only Rock n Roll. Two voices competed against some of the greatest vocal bands in the world . Timeless song by the Glimmer Twins 😎
Rolling Stones have So many great 'deep cuts' that never get any attention! 'Hand of Fate', 'Winter', 'Monkey Man'.....'Sway'......'Let it Loose'.......
I discovered this when I was 13 and was blown away. It felt like I found something that was just mine because it’s not a popular song played on the radio everyday.
It’s The Stones. Need I say more. Been listening to them since 1962 and still am. Have you listened to Can’t You Hear Me Knocking? THANK YOU, THANK YOU for listening to the whole song before reacting, unlike many losers who feel they have to say something dumb every few seconds.
All kidding aside, this album WAS underrated. All the attention always went to Exile on Main Street or Sticky Fingers, but It's Only Rock'n Roll had a lot of great jams. Fingerprint File is another must from this album.
The last true masterpiece the Stones ever recorded. And the last album to feature Mick Taylor and Nicky Hopkins. No wonder they never reached those heights again.
@@Mike-gn4un Absolutely they are. Great albums both of them. And both better than the album that "Time Waits For No One" is from (which is still a very good album), but I'm just taking that song in isolation. In my opinion there isn't a single song they've written and produced since that matches it.
@@davescurry69 I love time waits for no one and the It’s only rock n roll album. Although I love the track I don’t think it’s head and shoulders above subsequent tracks recorded eg Memory Motel, Miss you, Beast of Burden, Start me up, Undercover of the night etc Just my opinion
Nice reaction that I can agree with. I love the opening lines of the quitar. It sounds so sweet and starts with the melody. From the same album I recommend If You Really Want to be My Friend. Alsof a beautiful song.
This was around the period when the Stones were recording in Jamaica. The album right after this,,,, Goat Head Soup was mostly recorded in Jamaica. It was when Mick was carousing with Bianca whom was from a Caribbean island close to Jamaica. They were hitting the clubs in Kingston and other islands and Mick really got the Caribbean sound in his ear. "Working So Hard" is a reggae song and many of the songs on Goats Head have Jamaican musicians .
Totally agree with wondering how Jagger will do a song…the man is a genius in that. I think this song is my favourite of the band. Mick Taylor is beyond amazing…love this band.
You two are very fun to listen to❤ the Rolling Stones were formed in 1962 or 3 in Liverpool or somewhere around there in england.❤ their latest album is Hackney diamonds❤ check it out! Great song called angry❤❤ they are the greatest rock and roll band of all time❤❤❤
Stones in your shoe. Or pants. You got stones, huh, kid. Forgot this one...almost. Basil waits patiently. Rosemary checked out with some rocker dude soon after we got here.
Just lovely! Not sure how I feel about Mick’s voice because at first it doesn’t fit but the instrumental of it all is just great. Maybe after a few listens his vocals will blend better to my ear. I don’t hate his voice just sounds so choppy against the instrumental here.
Absolutely LOVE your reaction to whoever that bunch is...they MIGHT make something of themselves but I doubt it...also PLEASE LISTEN to "Luxury" from that same record if you like regge/rock at it's VERY BEST!!! Peace Friends
Please please please please please listen to there's a place in the world for a gambler by Dan Fogelberg❤❤❤❤ with the Eagles singing the background music❤❤❤❤ and BW Stevenson song My Maria❤❤❤❤❤
IMO, The Stones were on a steady decline by this point. They set the bar so high though that there were still lots of great songs, this included, for some years to come. Smoother and more subtle than what non-stones fans might expect. I love Mick Taylor's tasteful solo on this too. I believe that these guys had far more influence in the music I like than those scouse chancers. Nice selection Armando and good reaction.

The greatest song the Stones ever released, and the greatest musician they ever had...Mick Taylor. The most underrated guitarist ever!
Mick Taylor is one of the most underrated Guitarist of al time ever.
You both bring good energy❤❤❤
My favorite Stones' song. Thanks for reviewing it.
Depending on my mood, "Time Waits For No One" is my all-time favorite song. It is an absolute gem!
We agree!
I agree
The Stones with Mick Taylor was their best period by far.
Taylor and Stewart really lift the stones to another level of their music . The piano is so enjoyable as Taylor playing the guitar
My fav Stones song.
The name of the album is called It's Only Rock N Roll

What a wealth of info! Thanks as always An Cat!
As others have pointed out, Mick Taylor's guitar is gorgeous on this track. He said it was his favorite that he did with the stones.
The Stones were never supposed to be that band that makes you shush your friends and plead them to just LISTEN but that’s the one song that makes me hand the headphones and do just that. One of my all-time, er, faves.
amen brother!
how do you not know who the Stones are! Omg so glad to be 61 years old! I lived through all the great music.
How do you not know sarcasm 🥰?
Great job 👏. One of the greatest songs ever unknown by the masses . Thanks for posting.

Mick Taylors Masterpiece.

This is Mick Taylor at his finest but I really love the way Jagger does the vocals for this song.

Their vocals aren't...Mick Taylor really shines on this tune.

Luv Mick Taylor's soulful playing
Such a melancholy song, never more so than after Charlie Watts passed on last year. Yep, time really does not wait.
Great old song, makes you respect time as the song says: it waits for no one ☝️
I discovered this when I was 13 and was blown away. It felt like I found something that was just mine because it’s not a popular song played on the radio everyday.
We get it! Thanks for watching Daniel!

This is another great Stones album.
Wow great song 1973 they were priming

A favorite album outside of the 70s releases.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I love this song and it is so sweet to see the U2 discovered it a year ago❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Oh wow totally feels that way. Thanks for confirming Jerrold!
She was from Nicaragua, on the continent.
Goats Head Soup came out before this album.
I was 17 years old ! ❤️ beautiful song !
Me too!

Mick Taylor came from John Maayalls band
Thanks for the info!
Mick Taylor teases it.
the Mick to noticed here is Mick Taylor. Most incredible guitar player of the Stones.
The blues based Stones is why they hit the soul
Album, It’s Only Rock n Roll
Thanks Robert!

This song is a one-off of one-offs.
I used to think this solo by Mick Taylor was inspired by Santana, but have come to realize it was Peter Green
It sure does have a Santana vibe. Always liked Peter Green.
I was just wondering if that WAS Santana playing.
I think Santana was once asked what was the best Santana guitar solo and he said Mick Taylor's Time Waits for No One
Absolutely LOVE your reaction to whoever that bunch is...they MIGHT make something of themselves but I doubt it...also PLEASE LISTEN to "Luxury" from that same record if you like regge/rock at it's VERY BEST!!! Peace Friends

Great song! But why would the Stones do this and then make "Time is on my Side." They contradict one another.
It’s a juicy contradiction 😉
“Time Is On My Side” is a cover that they did early in their career. I think it’s from 1964, when Brian Jones was in the band.
This one is from 1974, when Mick Taylor was a member. And it’s an original song from them.
lol. Time is on my side came out in 1964. Over a decade later, they realised the error of youth maybe?
They were younger and didn’t know better.
Great answers, thanks!
