    Perhaps this is the first "modern" music we all can relate to, like we relate to Mozart, Beethoven and so on? We know it and can go back to it, perhaps as an old friend. I first heard this music fifty years ago, but it still is "new" to me. But during the years it has become my friend.

    Misschien wel de beste compositie van de 20e eeuw! Zo intens! Zo’n spanning ademt dit stuk! Al die wisselende ritmes… waanzinnig! In één woord geniaal. Op een paar slordigheidjes na een uitstekende uitvoering! Bravo maestro Petrenko!

    I have always love this music. Also, I find this such a cleverly composed piece of music. To me Stravinsky was a genius. This is a magnificent performance and the sound quality and camera work is outstanding. I must say, it doesn't get any better than this. Thank you so much for uploading this for all to enjoy.

Gracias!!

    I remember my attendance in the previous century of Le Sacre by I believe Radio Symphonic (at student rate :-) in one of those seats behind the brass section with excellent view. One can feel the percussion and drums in the stomach and how loud the brass sounds, even those flutes ... I noticed several players wearing ear plugs ...

    Is this the same orchestra that did Rite with Maestro van Zweden 5 or 6 years ago?

  • @jassenjj

    Marvelous engineering work, but I'm not so thrilled by the performance. So laid-back and refined, that bassoon solo with ornamentation... Additionaly, some lack of power and stamina here and there... Petrenko has a great studio recording, here I find him too soft.

    • @BackwardFinesse
      @BackwardFinesse 2 года назад +1

      Have to agree - too refined, not savage enough. But we’ll engineered by the sound technicians and interesting to see the orchestra at work. I quite enjoyed it.

    • @Lajos279
      @Lajos279 2 года назад +1

      Exactly. It's very ineresting to compare this rendition of the Sacre with the performance given 12 years ago by the same orchestra, same concert hall, same 1947-version, but conducted by Jaap van Zweden. Also on this same channel. If you should imagine this score being the soundtrack for a movie, than Petrenko has a documentary in mind of old pagan rituals, while Van Zweden drags the listener irrresistible right into a dark thriller or horror film. Unforgettable version!

    • @jassenjj
      @jassenjj 2 года назад

      @@Lajos279 Yes, that performance is iconic. Unorthodox, very focused, not at all rushed, with clear intention and uneasy tension - great mixture for Le Sacre. But Petrenko can do similar things like in this recording: ruclips.net/video/zFe_H2w2LPU/видео.html . I guess the pushed high tempo is not always the best choice for a live performance...

    • @Lajos279

      @@jassenjj Just came across this stunning performance of the Sacre by the LSO under Sir Simon Rattle: ruclips.net/video/EkwqPJZe8ms/видео.html . Proves that the main thing a conductor has to do is bringing synergy between every single member of the orchestra, so that they can play and feel all together the same story that the music has to tell. Taking into account that Rattle took a pause of nearly 30 seconds between part I and part II, the total length of his performance is only about 35 seconds longer than Pretenko's, but it feels quite different! Besides, if you can see the Sacre as the mother of all soundtracks, I think there is no other orchestra than the LSO that has so much experience in playing soundtracks! It's in their DNA one could say, like Mahler and Bruckner is in the DNA of the Concertgebouw Orchestra.
