These are all 80s classic today and played endlessly on radio. hah
I recorded this that night. I have the entire show. Aha was here in Houston TX doing a show at the Summit. Their acceptance was done back stage during the show. The correspondent for mtv (the guy with the mic) was local radio deejay Hollywood Henderson from 93Q.

It's rather strange to imagine that they would win this award for best new artist when after that hit they didn't have any other hits in America and almost all the other artists made bigger impact in America.

+wpaulvandyk A-ha did have another minor hit called "The Sun Always Shines On TV" which , I remember, got quite a bit of airtime, video AND radio after Take On Me. But yeah, not to the extent of Take On Me had. At least in Canada, but I'll assume also in the U.S.
Yes, and it's a shame, because the rest of their work is AMAZING! I own all of their albums, including the solo work and collaborations that Morten, Mags, and Paul have done outside of a-ha, and I love them all! (To say that I am a fan of their work would be a massive understatement. "Super fan" would be more like it. I have everything from CDs, cassettes, vinyl, tshirts, books, and even one of the stamps that Mags painted for Norway back in '02.) Everyone should seriously check out their newest album that was released last month called "Cast In Steel". It's beautiful!

A-HA are one the greatest band of the world; a band that holds two Guinnes World Records, and got one the greatest voice of all the times (THE greatest to me!); a band that sold more than 100.000 records !!! what about USA ?? They don t know what kind of stannung and Amazing, and soaring, and original music they ve lost !
