    Back in the 70's I carried two Leslie 145s in my van along with an Earth B-2000 for the piano.. That stuff, mini-B and the piano filled my Econoline.... I've missed that sound ever since.... This is exciting!! I'm ready...

    The Fantom is looking a lot more tempting now. It is a good organ engine, though not as strong as several competitors at this point, but plenty usable, no doubt. I do wonder how soon before Roland does a follow-up successor engine. I bet they could improve on it relatively quickly.

      I don't see D50 model expansion in the near future for Fantom. It requieres ACB modelling capability, only available on Jupiter X/Xm. I don't know if the fantom's hardware allows ACB (analog circuit behavior).

    • @xp50player
      @xp50player 3 года назад +1

      @@Flavio-ar no, no, and no. The D-50 was 100% digital. www.roland.com/global/promos/d-50_30th_anniversary/ It does not require ACB to reproduce. The D-05 boutique version uses DCB, as does the Roland Cloud version. Jupiter X/Xm do not use ACB, that is the System 1/8. Jupiter Xm/X use ABM for its model banks, as does the Fantom now. I expect the JD-800 expansion for the Fantom in the future, not a D-50 tho. It has many D-50 patches already.

      There is another good solution for that actually.
      Get a Yamaha MODX or Montage for the great FM-X engine, developers of the famous DX-7, and run a laptop with Roland's own VST's which will offer you all of the engines you mentioned and many more, plus will give you compatibility with sound collections from the Montage/MOTIF series/DX-7 series & compatibility with the vast majority of Fantom sound collections as the main ZenCore engine is made as software from Roland, plus they offer lots of their other famous synth engines including the D-50 & JD-800 which they don't offer for the Fantom.
      And if your concerned about having the Fantom B-3 engine, you could run the B-3X software made in part by the Hammond organ company which is probably the powerful organ engine available for either hardware or software short of having a real B3.
      The solution brings the best of both worlds. Plus Korg offers around 11 engines as VST's too, including some from the Kronos, and including some Korg synth engines that are newer than the Kronos which it doesn't have, plus Korg's "most famous" engines which are not available for the Kronos.
      My solution is win win win. The best of the 3 companies. Yamaha doesn't offer their hardware synths in software the way Roland & Korg do, so it's pretty logical to choose them for your physical keyboard.

    The Roland XP10 was my first budget professional keyboard. From there I was pretty much playing portable Yamaha and Casio keyboardS. Now I have the Roland Juno DS. I sometimes feel like Roland has something thing for everyone but still feel like it’s a little more on the rock/pop side of music. I play mostly gospel and listen to a little jazz, classical, r&b, and a few other things. I really am looking to have that one be all keyboard but the organ is just not there for me with the type of music I play. This is not a slam on Roland as I think their keyboards give the best bang for buck but more so don’t see the draw for musicians like myself like it used to be. I kinda wish it was showcased for more genres of music. I could be missing it though and just have not looked around the internet enough. When I saw this video I was thinking I would hear that warm watery sound as I call it. Great upgrade but just wanting a little more.

      I find the updated YC61 and Hammond clones passable enough in light of the alternative and limitations in moving around. Roland are laughable in this area. So I scarcely even look when it comes to these sorts of sounds. Imitation is after all only that. Just depends on how much you really need it and what you'll layer it with. As nice as it is to have independent devices for everything; it's not great on money, transport or space. Each year is a move forward though. So I am sure it will be done. Plenty of demand and time isn't exactly capped. For now.

    To the developpers. I wasn't aware you can do firmware updats like this. This is great news because I have a special request. Your pianos don't have the sustain pedal implemented. On a real acoustic piano, all the other strings resonate sympathetically so the sound is very different than just sustaining the notes you just played. It would be EASY to implement without going over the tedious task of sampling both the note without the sustain pedal and with the sustain pedal. Here is the tip: just implement a special gated reverb you can configure to go ON when pedal is down and OFF when the pedal is up. For my own Fantom8, I have implemented a reverb to be triggered with CTRL1 and I split my sustain pedal wire in two jacks, one in the HOLD input and the other in CTRL1. I is better but the reverb don't shut when the pedal is up like an acoustic piano. BTW few years back we DAW users where sooooo happy when the GigaPiano got released! I HAD THE SUSTAIN PEDAL IMPLEMENTED just like a real acoustic piano! Where and why did this go away? I tried ALL the new digital software pianos out there and still use the original Giga Steinway B piano! Trouvez l'erreur...

      @ablesam 3 года назад

    • @kappyLV
      @kappyLV 3 года назад

      @@ablesam, yes, the USB volume is there, but it hasn’t been shown that it is ported to the organ. In the 2 videos done by the Roland guys so far, they haven’t moved the last drawbar. Also, using the USB fader would preclude its use for USB input volume. I’m guessing that the last drawbar does not have a physical control assigned to it or you have to switch zone banks to access it. Rolands demos understandably tend to gloss over any drawbacks or missing features of their products, showing you what they can do vs what they can’t. I take delivery of my Fantom 7 next month.
