Great vid! As someone with a pretty entry level HDR Monitor, my brightness is not great. But I was always excited to play games with an expanded colour space! Yours is one of the few videos I've seen that actually covers this and I'm super thankful!
I always found it weird that PS5 games have an in game toggle for turning on or off the HDR, because PS5 sets the tv mode to HDR. So when switching the in-game toggle to sRGB means that the tv is still in HDR mode. If you want to play PS5 games in SDR, you have to disabled HDR in the PS5 menu.

I have LG C1 and play in performance mode (so 60hz) and HDR10 and I set all the HDR sliders just like you. And that is exact as I would do it myself. But... something is wrong with this game,. I have HGiG enable in HDR game optimizer mode, but the overall picture is way too dark. Only the highlight are ok. You can even see it right away in the in-game menu: as soon as you select HDR10 (in game) you see the picture (look at the menu text) get darker.
Anyone know whats wrong. Im on Xbox Series s and when i go into options/video i cant chance performance mode / quality. All i see is srgb at the top. Amy help?
Are you using some software for the hdr histogram? I want to analyze some Xbox hdr video captures and I haven't found a proper tool besides DaVinci Resolve's scopes
Since I set-up my G3 in the living to follow up on my CX when I game in HDR I get headache. Dunno what is causing it never had or have it on my CX. Perhaps 2 bright for my eyes at some points or something with the motion. Dunno yet but it is a bit annoying. I don't get it when watching movies though.
Suprised ubisoft got it right with adding real HDR10, instead of only auto hdr,scrgb. All their assasins creed games are scrgb, auto hdr, which is a poor option.

I do not agree with the praise you‘re giving the game. Yes, it makes use of the full color space and brightness range with basically no black level raise with the right settings, so they got the basics right, but there‘s much more to a proper HDR experience than that. The brightness levels are extremely inconsistent from one scene to another. Some settings like the night for example look fantastic, but in some other scenes it looks very dull/flat not making proper use of the dynamic range at all. That also goes for the colors which are sometimes too flat and sometimes quite oversaturated, as if you were in the Vivid mode of the TV. Not everything has to be BT.2020, colors need to look natural as well and overall a game like Forza Horizon 5 has a much more natural and consistent HDR output. I did not like the HDR experience of The Crew Motorfest in the beta and from what I‘m seeing it hasn‘t changed in the final release.
100% agree. Oversaturated inconsistent mess no matter the HDR settings. This unrealistic look it's clearly artistic intent and i don't like this choice at all. Way to arcade in look&feel to be considered rival for FH5. FH5 looks better and more realistic even with OOTB game settings.
Look, the bottom line is,.. on PC,.. disregarding the HDR talk, if you want borderless gaming,. you're LOCKED to your native resolution,. you CANNOT (as far as I am aware) reduce the load on your GPU by running full screen at HALF your native resolution. This is bad, for many reasons. Don't ask me why, it just is, for numerous reasons. Is there REALLY no way to run full screen 4k at HALF that resolution as of Sept' 2024? No?
Feels way too saturated according to your settings idk about that.... VIncent has better settings imho. But he hasn't done any HDR game in 2 years. Every game has it's own HDR settings only some use console settings.... Looks very good on a second try, good job!

The HDR is so good on the Samsung Motorfest PS5. I was playing with the settings on Xbox and PS5. Deeper blacks great review the game is so good.

If you use DV than there is no DTM or HGiG. Just HDR10 has DTM and HGiG. For a bright room maybe DTM ON is better.

Same. The contrast seems to be a little too much and everything is just harsh. It lacks nuance.
