What an achievement Jan and Ann! It's fulfilling to be able to give back to the beauty nature shares to us. Thank you for being role models, being proactive and advocating the need to protect sea turtles. Hoping most of them survive!
Way back when I was still in the naval service, it was a daily spectacle for us seeing sea turtle hatchlings marching towards the sea for the first time in the far away Turtle Islands in Tawi-Tawi very close to the Malaysian border of Sabah. There were a lot of eggs buried in the sand that we were allowed to get some to boil and eat. It was like eating sand! And the shell remained soft. They actually looked like pingpong balls. Lol. Let me repeat that this was allowed way back then. It was naval tradition not to take the eggs back aboardship though. It was believed that it was bad omen to have turtle eggs aboardship. Foul weather will follow your vessel everywhere. I’m glad you were able to witness one. Take care, guys!

Love this vlog! There’s also a Pawikan conservation in Bataan, about 3-4 hour drive from Manila. Guests could release turtles during “turtle season”. We went there last month.
