Building Blue crab trap pt.1

Building a couple standard style blue crab traps. This bedroom is me bending a couple pieces of wire to make some crab traps with for the season. This bender is something I came up with to help bend my trap pieces easier and faster than with a 2x4

do you make these traps to use or do you sell them? if so how much do they sell for these days? I'm wanting to get into commercial crab trap making and selling but I am not 100% sure if it's even worth the profit.

This is from a bunch of wire I had from when I was selling them. I would sell these single tall traps for 35-40

@@YaMonBaitCo I just got some wire from Duvall out of Eunice and been playing around. My neighbor talked me into making some 11 mesh easy dump ones with the 3 funnels. I like the design way better than the other type of traps with the 4 funnels. I'm curious what they would sell for. He is claiming they are selling the other traps with 4 funnels for $35-$38 but honestly I can't see how that is possible. I added all the material for one trap and it cost $20 to make one. There is no money to be made if you can't even get the same amount for your labor as you spent on the materials. $15 labor for a whole trap? From what I've heard there is an 11 month wait for commercial traps in Louisiana you can't find any anywhere. I wanted to get into it but for that kind of profit I'll pass.

G King I have commented several time on the sailboat videos but yes the DWC took the boat before I could take legal ownership of the boat. It was considered a nuisance and destroyed. Sad
