    I go through phases where I’m really good at not spending my money and then 💥 BAM. I get a “fix” of wanting to shop and spend my money. I’m trying to get out of that mindset.

      Now that I know the reason behind my behaviour, I’m also able to control it.

      Shadow Gang Tarots same! I get bored of my style every now and then. I used to be like that especially with my hair. I’d get my hair dyed and then I’d say” well now I need hair products to upkeep it!” “I need Cute hair accessories too!” Thank goodness I stopped dying my hair 😅

    I ran across your channel b/c it came up when I was looking into wardrobe capsules. I have watched several of your videos and am so impressed with your maturity and sincerity. You are speaking such *truth* to people your age, and I hope they are listening. I am 71 but only chronologically! I am in the midst of purging and organizing my house. I have always loved beautiful things and admittedly it's hard to let some of the stuff go. Not clothes - that's easy, but getting rid of a lifetime of china and things I bought to make our homes beautiful is not as easy! It is, however, very freeing. The amount of stuff I own has begun to disgust me in recent years. I'm tired of being ruled by material things. My wardrobe is ridiculous. I am deciding what items give me joy and intend to let the things that don't enrich my life be a blessing to someone else! What my children don't want, I am of course donating. Fortunately, I don't need the money, but I do want to simplify and live in keeping with my views on sustainability and the environment. Ironically, I've been preaching about wealth inequality for years without taking an honest look at my own life. My husband is on board with me and has given away tons of stuff himself! You are a force to be reckoned with, girl. I wish you great success and happiness. You are fortunate to have figured it out this early in your life. Because you are young and have a young peer group, I'm sure you see some shitty comments. (I saw where you had to suspend the comments on one of your videos). It's a shame that some folks feel the need to be mean and demeaning, but you're trying to reach them. And I know you are getting your message across to a lot of your followers. I am a proud new subscriber! You keep doing you!

    I just recently did this and honestly I am starting to feel alot better. I feel less cluttered and less trapped. it's a great feeling 😊

    You should definitely recycle your old ripped or stained clothes! Lots of cities have drop off sites where they recycle old clothes and then they wont end up in a landfill!

    • @cdb48340

      Tiffany Hindman they are typically sold to impoverished countries creating landfill problems in other countries. Look it up. I was saddened to learn this

    • @EntireME
      @EntireME 5 лет назад +6

      @@cdb48340 Well i dont know about clothes from usa but from uk, german they are sold to my country and in my country there are a lot of second hand shops which people actually love - not because of poverty. So buying used clothes is giving them second life. Except tshirt, socks, pants and most of my shoes/bras (from sh i buy only new ones) 95% of my wardrobe is just from second hand shops, all jeans, sweaters, jumpers, dresses, jackets for all seasons, shorts, pijama shorts and so on. If they were not sold to my country they would finish on a junk pile or would be burned. All the clothes which sh dont sell to people to wear they are sold to producing companies to use it as rugs for cleaning machines, so its also second life, at least they dont buy special rugs for cleaning machines.

    Kyra, I live this way, I will never go back to owning too much, I have very little clothes, but looks like I have so much, solids and accessories are the way to go. I love being minimal. I have a capsule wardrobe. Your advice is spot on..

I love slow fashion and I've switched to second hand which made it even more fun cause i now feel my style is unique and so ME not a replica of every other girl in the city.

    I think focusing on something else that you want to spend you money on will help also. Traveling is my true love! If I have a trip planned or a big purchase I want to make I think about that when I go to buy things like clothes or makeup. I also like to think about how many hours of work an item costs and think about if it is worth it in terms of work hours and that helps me not to buy things a lot of the time. Having staple items in neutral colors is also a great way to be able to wear the same clothing and not need new items. Thanks for the video!

    Buy solid colors and accessorize! A couple of belts or scarves.
    I remember buying something just because I could. Of course, when I realized what I had done it was too late.
    As soon as I got home I knew I would never wear it. It looked horrible! I didn't even bother to try it on.
    Looking at your closet, I think I still have too many clothes. I still have a lot of unnecessary items
    I threw out so many socks that didn't have partners, but I still have about 20 pair. Truth is though that I only wear the black ones which is about 10 socks.
    Thanks, Kyra for another inspiring video.

    Be aware of buying to Cure anxiety AND try to find a better substitute, and try to help your anxiety! For me getting into the environmentalist movement and becoming an social rights and democracy activist is where its at together with meditation and also learning to Style things in a major way. Still love clothes always Will and I see it as wasteful to get rid of perfectly good clothes so use what I have swap, thrift, remake or even buy new if its something ive identified as filling a gap, go to a lot of museum exhibitions etc and have learned a lot about what good quality is , how clothes are made etc but try to be easy on yourself and your body ( sierra shultzie has made a lot of youtube clips about how clothes fit on diffrent Bodies as justine leconte says a designer and youtuber its not your body its how the clothes fit )To me if you really like being a minimalist be a minimalist but watch out so that you dont replace one addiction with another.

    You can put used clean underwear in the clothing recycling bins that are typically located in many cities near the regular donation bins. Another idea might be homeless shelter, not Goodwill but a true homeless shelter, they give those items away to those that are the most desperate, they are grateful for clean clothing, they don't care so much about stains or wear and tear. Just a thought. :)

    I‘d be really interested in what you laundry „routine“ looks like 🤔 I just cannot imagine how to do my laundry with this low amount of clothes, since I sort my laundry by color (at least bright and dark/red, so that my white clothes to not turn pink) and temperature (higher temperature for undies..). Do you do that kind of thing or just put everything together? Since I‘m living on my own, I always have problems with getting my washing machine filled and I feel like it’s a waste, turning it on for just a couple of slips or 5 shirts.. so I‘m really curious how this is working out for you 😀

    • @francescachecchin6191
      @francescachecchin6191 5 лет назад

      If you wash low temperature you do not consume much (it is the temperature and not the movement that costs) and clothes clean better when they can move in the washing machine freely. A load for every colour and every materia... your clothes will last for ever...

      Thank you 💕 and yes once an item of mine wears out or rips or anything like that then I will purchase something to recover that item in my wardrobe, but lately I’ve been air drying my clothes and I feel like that as pro longed the life of my clothes. So not many rips or anything drastic like that in a while :) also I don’t put my clothes to wash right away like my jeans I wear twice before washing them and same as shirts because I feel like wearing clothes for a couple hours doesn’t make it that dirty lol I know some people that wear an outfit for a good 4 hours then throw it in the hamper. I try to be wise when it comes to laundry and just clothes in general because it can be pretty pricey to purchase and wash.

    you shouldn't throw away your undergarments! When it's ripped or can not be worn anymore, sure you can through away. But depending on where you live, undergarments such as bras and underwear are so rare to find in charity shops etc. as a refugee or a homeless person you find shirts, pants etc. so easily but not underwear. So even though you don't like second hand, someone else might need it. Just ask next time if they can use some and then decide! :)

    I have a problem with buying clothes when I'm stressed... I know the problem behind this behaviour but how do I stop it? It's a strong urge that seems to ignore all my logical senses.
    I'm miserable when I look at how much clothes I have in my closet. However, I çan't bear to give them away as well.

      Hi! I had the same issue and I was so embarrassed when I decluttered my closet and found items with the tags on. What helped me is ask myself have I used this in the last six months! If you say no put it in a bag and donate. You already lost the money when you purchased it! I donated items and have some stuff like makeup given to my family. Also rip all your credit cards and unsubscribe from any retail emails. Trust me you will feel better !

    What I find helpful for clothing is to only purchase, rompers,dresses or jumpsuits because your not ever having to pay for extra tops to match your Jeans or your not spending time finding 3 different food to match your skirt ect.

So far is working for me, I buy everything with my debit card which makes me think twice if I really want to spend that money. Maybe this might work for you too☺️
