My coworkers get frustrated because I don’t join any of our team lunches but I cannot bring myself to go out & spend extra money when I buy groceries to not have to go out and buy food... lol
I fixed watches for a decade of my life. The movement inside a Michael Kors watch is as cheap as a walmart brand watch. So people pay $200-$400 just for the MK name to be like everyone else. At least get a smart watch it does a lot more for a similar price tag.
"you're paying for time, time you're not getting back. not even extra time in your day. time is precious, but it shouldn't come with a price tag." soo many gems in this vid!! 🌿✨
I’m in my 50’s. I wish I was as smart as you when I was your age. I just watched an old video that had the comments turned off. It was how you manage your money on minimum wage. It was so good. You’re doing a great job with your channel AND your life. Don’t ever change.
You should do more videos about things that bring you joy and how minimalists find happiness. I feel like it’s a lot of no’s or what not to do. Those vids are cool, but but sprinkle in the joy too.
Couldnt agree more.. i dont hate the video, but the video gimme such boring life vibe 😅 should focus on enjoying life not suffering for not to do this and that.. being minimalist is not the same with has a boring life
I do prefer designer or more luxury brand clothing but not necessarily just for the name. I like certain styles or designs but I do not agree with the price tag. My solution is I purchase items gently used on sites like Poshmark. The prices are more in line with what I feel comfortable paying. So, it’s a great solution for my budget but also what I enjoy. 😉👌🏻
I must live under a rock 😯 I had no idea people went clubbing 3-4 times a week! I don't even club once a year and I grew up living next to Las Vegas 😆😆
I think it really depends on your age. Younger people tends to get more invitations to go out to clubs and usually like she said ends spending a lot of money
My husband and I recently got rid of internet, and something else (I can't remember lol) but we just upgraded our phone plan by $10 and use it for hotspot when we turn on morning shows for our toddler. We saved $90 a month!
Your internet is soooo expensive. I pay £20 month for high speed fiberoptic unlimited broadband. Mobile contact is £25 month for unlimited data. I'm also going wifi free though 😊
@@nataliebutler It's honestly probably so expensive because we live in a rural area currently and it was our only option! For the first year we had it for $45 but then they upped it to $75. Just wasn't worth it since we were literally using it for tv. That's awesome you're going wifi free too!!
Had a BMW that drove like a dream but the maintenance was ridiculously expensive and I was constantly worrying about in getting scratched. I have a Toyota and and really never give it a second thought. Yep it is boring but oh so reliable.
I hear Mercedes Benz cars are very $$$ to maintain. Our cars presently are a Ford sedan and a Mazda 5. One of them is paid for and the Ford we are paying off but owe less than $10,000 on the balance. We buy our cars used. I am hoping to pay off the Ford within a few years and we are pounding on the loan.
I have a 2012 Toyota Camry and I bought it off the lot and it’s a good investment. I’m keeping track of the maintenance and Toyota’s like Honda’s are easy to sell or to fix. My husband wants be to upgrade to a Lexus but no thanks my mileage is 68000 & my car has a lot of life. Btw you are gorgeous I love your accent!
Kyra, you’ve inspired me so much. I’ve decluttered my closet and now I don’t buy fast fashion. I’ve also cut back on wasting money on so many things. Thank you for your videos!
Is it bad I work out and eat healthy just to avoid going to the doctors due to how messed up health insurance here in the US? I see people with medical bills from just riding an ambulance or having to stay in the hospital for a few days and it is horrific!!!!
I agree with you 100%. I learned how to eat to live instead of living to eat. I stopped digging my own grave with my teeth. Now I don't eat just so my stomach stop hurting, I eat with a purpose, so I can live a healthy life 😊

I grew up in NY so was into that clubbing once a week. Upgraded my cars every two years. Kept escalating from Honda to Audi sport to bmw, convertible bmw and finally a Mercedes. Then I was like that’s it? Traded the Mercedes in for a Hyundai Tucson sport and have had it for 4 yrs. People thought I was crazy for “downgrading”. I got over it. Moved to PA. No clubbing, no cable, became a minimalist. So refreshing. I’m not going to lie sometimes I get sucked in to the hype but I try really hard not to or to remedy the situation.

I don’t have cable, I don’t eat at fast food restaurants. If we want something bc to eat out we will get it from a home restaurant. We have restaurants that are in houses and they make all the meals that day and you can go in a pick up a homemade meal if you don’t feel like cooking.
I’m watching all of your videos now that I get to know your channel and I’m flipping the amount of similarities that one can have with ppl that may be close or in another country. My mama also had lung cancer in 2015 because she used to smoke A LOT. She’s alive but living with only the right lung and left with a huge and ugly scar that reminds her everyday that she will not be 100% healthy again.
Wow, I think you are the first person I’ve heard about other than my grandma who doesn’t have Internet at their home. I currently need the internet at home because I teach online from home, but I’d like to one day go without it. Anyways, I wanted to say, I am impressed. Usually the internet is considered a must-have for people these days, even older people.
I 100% agree cable is a waste of money. I think getting nails done are a waste of money. I slightly disagree on the clubbing tip. i love to dance and find it therapeutic to go dancing, whether it be a club, concert or a rave. to me spending money on memories and a good time is ok. BUT I have a feeling you were also throwing in drinks. Drinks to me are a waste of money! it's so expensive, I'm not a huge drinker but I'd rather drink at home then pay 20 dollars for a watered down drink.
@@cristiansince95 she did put a disclaimer, and also asked for additional tips we think are a waste of money to add more input to the community. which is why i added my nails tip. plus, I was in no way trying to be rude, she thinks cover charges and alcohol are a waste of money and I agree. i just myself like to dance which was my addition. again, I hope she didn't take my comment as rude when she asked for our opinions to be discussed. :)
I left my bank.! Only with credit union and another thing kinda like a bank but no fees, as u get cashback and that pays my fees when use the debit card 😂i only use this for my wages and child goverment benefits for your children.
Cable bills: That's true! I used to work for at&t billing and at&t is charging so much. I understand that senior citizens love to watch tv but it's just too much for them to pay that much money especially that most of them are living on fixed income 😣 these cable companies are just too much!
Aside form been a waste of money, fast fashion is also horrible for the environment and unethical. I recommend watching the documentary “the true cost”. And yes cable is awfully expensive, I use Hulu and Netflix and also go to my local library and get movies there, for free!
For someone who lives in Nigeria a third world country as well as an average income earner most of these stuff are not even readily available to me so I can keep myself in check if I want Kyra you are doing well and you are glowing as ever 💖
I agree with the Watch thing...I used to wear watches years ago, before cell phones, and when my battery died, I never replaced it. I am happy to say, that I survived! We have our cell phones with us constantly, and if I need to know the time, I just look at that.
I've been trying to convince family to get rid of cable. My plan is to either write down the shows we watch or the names of the show and see how many are on other platforms so we can convert😁
I get you Kyra. I do work hard and climbed a few steps up the ladder. I do prefer to maintain my family instead of impress society. When I buy luxury items because I do, I do it for myself and not to impress friends or society.
🤔🤔🤔 how did you become so BRILLIANT! At such a young age!!** you are amazing and I agree with EVERYTHING on your list VERY TRUE I’m new to this, learning as I go, baby steps HOWEVER YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽❤️❤️❤️😘
I agree with all of these except for the luxury vehicle one. I bought my car because it's the safest car on the market. Like literally THE SAFEST lol. I upgraded from a 2004 Nissan Sentra which literally crumbled like aluminium foil when I got in an accident. Luckily i wasn't badly injured but the car was considered a total loss. For me, the peace of mind knowing that the car I bought has the best rating on the market is worth the price tag. I'm also a tech geek so the car was right up my alley. The enjoyment I get from my car and the piece of mind that my future kids are as safe as possible is worth it to me.
All cars, not trucks and true SUV's, are unibody vehicles, meaning they have no frame. The frame creates rigidity and absorbs force in an accident. Although there are safe cars, such as Subaru, a car will never provide the protection of a vehicle with a frame. Although trucks and SUV's are obviously more costly in their own right.
OMG CIGARETTES!!!!!! Yesssssss I totally agree grew up around it all the time and as an adult I have no smoked one in my entire life I vowed to myself I wouldn’t since I grew up around me
I would never get rid of my internet... everything runs off our internet, and now with lockdown, I have no idea how people with no internet cope.. i work from home, attend tons of Teams meetings each werk, my son has to homeschool... i thank God every day that I have and can afford internet!
I stop buying paper towels. I bought a few reusable rags from Walmart and start using those, just wash when needed. For me and for when I have company. Its been 5 months now and it’s working fine 👌🏽
can you make videos/posts on things you do that make you productive and how you have been where you're at today. :-) you are such an inspiring influenceer!!
I like that you are so young and so simple. Now a days young people wanna be like the kardjenners. Well not only young people but I see a lot of them wanting to be so high end even when they cant afford things.
I wish 😭 in Ireland it used to be free now they charge... For everytime take money out. Everytime use debit card. Some bills can be 15e a month. Joke. 😂I left my bank of 17 years after these charges came in and one year wasn't even working 😭killer. Money. Down. The. Drain
@@Rollimggiant not in the UK, all cash withdrawals from UK banks ATMs are free if you use a debit card, for example in Poland they may charge you a fee if you decide to use other bank's ATM
I agree with pretty much everything but I wanted to give another take on luxury watches. I'm not talking about smart watches, I'm talink about hella expensive luxury watches. I completely agree about them being a waste of money with a minimalist lifestyle, but I think from this list it's the only item that you mentionned that actually gets even more expensive as times goes on. There are a big investment that can grow on value and if you find the right time to resell it, it can be a real win. However, I'm with you since I would not put that much money in something AND then I would not use it because of the fear of ruining it. It would make me really anxious.
Haven't had cable in years. I have the digital box and antenna tv which costs nothing. Have Netflix and Disney's 7.00 a month deal that they put out at the holidays. Not sure I'll keep it. I also have Amazon fire tv that comes with Amazon Prime.
By the way , you are such a beautiful. I totally agree with you. I quit smoke and drinking 40 years ago. i had been clubbing in the 70's and wasted so much time , money, and health. I am in the 60's now and enjoy better life with healthy living (retired and free). Thanks for this video.
I agree on all of these! We drive older cars that are not fancy and easy to maintain. We are currently looking at way to pay less for Cable & Internet.
I kind of agree you value more you time when you dont got tv , you be surprised how good you sleep and it kind of mades more to go outdoors and enjoy nature word

Cigarettes is not only a bad habit and for your health but it's like having a car payment. I have a family full of smokers and my sister just turned 49 in June last year and died from lung cancer in July and my mother died from a broken heart from my sister dying this past December and my Aunt has stage 1 Lung cancer and just had surgery today to remove the part of her lung that was infected.
I’m a firm believer in buying experiences but I do believe it can be done in excess. I’m looking to travel and want to see and learn things not necessarily party. I just don’t club anymore. For clothes I prefer quality or quantity. I have those few good items I love to wear a lot for that season. I feel like u should want to wear something often that u bought. I do have a good amount of jeans that I’m downsizing bc I always go to the same ones. I like have key items I luv and wearing it with love. For banking I have discover bank, best bank ever. I use their credit card that has been so good to me. I do need to keep my credit up but I don’t spend for normal things. I use it for excess travel cost or emergency. . And I haven’t had cable for like 10 years. Never used them it entirely like anyone does and I Don’t miss it. I only have internet and netflix and Disney plus. You can find a lot of things on the internet to watch anyway. And I pay like 60 a month bc my husband and i work from home.

She did put a disclaimer did she not? She's talking from her experience, it's not supposed to include yours.
I agree! Spending money on memories is worth it!! But I don’t pay to get into clubs..not even for drinks..guys pay for my drinks!! Free fun!!
Can you do a makeup/skincare routine on a minimalist life style/vegan friendly?!💗
I need a credit union too omg!! Tired of my bank. Scammers 😭😩
I left my bank.! Only with credit union and another thing kinda like a bank but no fees, as u get cashback and that pays my fees when use the debit card 😂i only use this for my wages and child goverment benefits for your children.
Sarah H My account is closing 2m. Now I just need a good credit union. Any suggestions?
Ahh not too sure I am in Ireland. Wow. 2 months? Do u have wait that long or that when you are choosing to close it 😉
Cable bills:
That's true! I used to work for at&t billing and at&t is charging so much. I understand that senior citizens love to watch tv but it's just too much for them to pay that much money especially that most of them are living on fixed income 😣 these cable companies are just too much!
I’m 22 and I’ve never been clubbing.. it’s weird, but I am guilty of eating so much fast food.😭2020 goal is to eat out less.!
Aside form been a waste of money, fast fashion is also horrible for the environment and unethical. I recommend watching the documentary “the true cost”. And yes cable is awfully expensive, I use Hulu and Netflix and also go to my local library and get movies there, for free!
I have recently find swapping clothes on Depop! I like mixed it with my other clothes in the wardrobe. It’s fun and ecologist! 😄
100% agree! Cable has changed my life when I stopped it.
I totally agree. Love your videos and you are wise beyond years. My mom had a stroke and she had to quit smoking too. Very scary.
Thank you 💕 aww so sorry to hear about your mom, hope she’s doing much better now.
@@Living.minimal she is. Thank you for asking. this was in 2005.
I’m a new fitness RUclipsr and I just have to say that you inspire me so much! Your content is 🔥 thank you! 💕🥰
wow 6 years of not drinking ? I’d save so much if I did that lol
m m Try it for one month! 🙏🏻💕
Tina Mar I will !
Start now!!2 months in and i already see a big difference.
Agree with all points. I don't eat out, it saves me a tons of money too.
No offense here. Totally agree with everything you said, great ideas, we do have TVs but no cable.
Which car is the safest?
All cars, not trucks and true SUV's, are unibody vehicles, meaning they have no frame. The frame creates rigidity and absorbs force in an accident. Although there are safe cars, such as Subaru, a car will never provide the protection of a vehicle with a frame. Although trucks and SUV's are obviously more costly in their own right.
Literally as you were talking about fast food a dominos ad came on 🤣
Coley Botelho 🤣🤣🤣
😂 what are the odds 😂
Pandora ad 🤦♀️
I swear youtube has a way of trolling us 😂😂😂😂
I agree especially with the clubing, when I used to go it was no more than 4 times a year bc fun is good but cost too much money!
Yessss girl! PREACH!!! Learning so much! Needed this!
I stopped watching TV since 2008. I was a 16 year old kid then.
Same...I bought 5 packs of bar towels and use those for everything! I use once then throw in a basket i keep in the kitchen for towels until wash day.
I get what you are saying about watches, but I love my apple watch for the heart rate, emergency phone when I am exercising, etc.
can you make videos/posts on things you do that make you productive and
how you have been where you're at today. :-) you are such an inspiring influenceer!!
Your beautiful!! I'm very proud of you!
Where have I been? I love your channel. Let me catch up 😩 clubbing use to be my go to but boy I’ve grown up 😂🙌🏾🥂
Thank you so much 💕💕
I like that you are so young and so simple. Now a days young people wanna be like the kardjenners. Well not only young people but I see a lot of them wanting to be so high end even when they cant afford things.
who pays bank fees these days? almost every bank in the UK offers an account for free!!!
Not in Ireland 😭😭😭 all banks now started to charge 😪😪😪😢 used to be free. So I quit the bank. 😂
You probably wish you had purchased some high quality watches at this time. Rolex,P.P,V.C.,etc.. You could have tripled your investment.
When i go out I'm sure to pregrame, go to clubs where I dont have to pay, and make sure I never offer to buy rounds aka dont have a card on me lol
Omg I don’t like Bank of America either. I canceled my account with them they’re crazy with all those fees
Almost 30?! I would give you almost 20, girl. Amazing
I agree with everything but the car my last bmw went to almost 200k miles before I upgraded they are more reliable than any car I have ever owned
Good for you not drinking! Another expensive habit! 💜💜👏👏
Cable is for sure a waste of money especially when there are tons of apps that you can find things on
You are amazing! We even don’t have netflix, spotify. I pay only for student prime on amazon for 6 month it’s free after that 4 pound per month :D
Very helpful! 😍 just living alone for a month now. This really help me 😍
Thank you so much Kyra for the video. Keep inspiring! Love you from Indonesia 😊❤
I kind of agree you value more you time when you dont got tv , you be surprised how good you sleep and it kind of mades more to go outdoors and enjoy nature word
I agree with everything mentioned in the video. Also a big waste of money in my opinion are pads or anything that is not reusable.
Yesss you are 100 percent right when it comes to the pads 🙌🏼
What is a reusable substitute for a pad?
@@bellatheb3autiful835 reusable pads or menstrual cups (they are amazing)
@@bellatheb3autiful835 they're pads that instead of disposing you just wash and use them for your next cycle (made out of fabric) ... if that doesn't convince you there's menstrual cups or menstrual underwear, whatever suits you best.
I'm so sry
Paula Speak omg so sorry 😔
Hey is that Spotify and Hulu deal available in the UK too?
Can you get mortgage loans from credit unions? I can’t stand BofA..
Yes, you can and credit union rates are often better than large banks.
Love love love this!!!
So glad that I found your channel 😍
