Carmex lip balm tube review | The best lip balm for hiking I've used

I've been using Carmex Cherry lip balm on my hiking trips for a couple of years now and this year in 2020 I used it on the Pacific Crest Trail to go thru-hiking and for me, it's been the best lip balm I've used so far. It comes in a really hygienic tube application with a really small hole, which is better instead of those chapstick twist application ones because it's less likely to gather dirt and dust and germs on the end of the chapstick.
In this review, I go over all of the specs and the features, as well as the best bits and my pet peeves and finally some stories of other hikers who've used cheaper alternatives.

You know the tip is rounded so you can apply directly to your lips right? I never would have thought to first squeeze on to finger and then apply to lips. ;-)
I think he did that cause it's more hygienic, I'm gonna start doing it like him too! lol
Personally i would think applying directly to lips from the tube more hygienic (assuming one isn't sharing the tube) than via my dirty finger. But we all have our ways of doing things.
My way of thinking is that whatever method you use, either put it directly to your lips or using a finger, it's gonna be just as dirty 😂
You just have to squeeze a little bit out and use the rounded end to apply to lips, never used fingers

I’ve used many lip balms (I’m a bit obsessed by them!) My favourite is the Carmex in the stick version. Top tip- bring a couple of lip balms with you as if you stop using it after getting used to it you will be very uncomfortable with dry lips. Mini tin of Vaseline is also handy for lips and other dry patches.

When I was kid my Dad always had what seemed like the same jar of carmex. And it would have the price on it. Those things lasted forever he had one that was $.89, $1.19 ect. I'm sure he still has one in his car now.

I use that cherry one too, smells great and agree the application is much cleaner. Only thing I don’t like about it is it’s lasting greasy ness but that’s to serve a purpose. Burt’s Bees lip balms are also good but less greasy. I also use body shop hemp hand cream which although isn’t for lips it works great at preventing and healing chapped lips and somehow makes your lips feel so soft with non of the greasy ness.

Yea carmex is more better for Women ...because when i tried using it a while back it was too shiny on my lips to wear it looked like i was Wearing lip gloss even when i put on jut a lil bit....so i wouldnt really recommend it for men

Love your review! Personally i perfer tube style lipbalm. Id definitely recommend chapstick sun defense. The actual balm stayed stable in 110 degree weather whilst in my pocket. Id like to see you make a review on it.
The lanolin also makes it non-vegan.
