Ok if these companies want to drop clients after years of the client paying for coverage, then they should notify the client and some kind of remebursement based payment history is the fair and honest way to end this transaction. Otherwise class action lawsuits should become the new normal.

If we are required by law to have insurance, especially on cars etc, then we need protection from the companies.
