The ole deuce an a halves were a hoot to drive in the army. I almost drove one off in a foxhole in the middle of the Iraqi desert on invasion night charging full speed into the night. If I'd hit that 4 foot hole at 50 mph, I would have been the only guy in the war to flip a deuce an a half end over end. You video of getting stuck indicated the front wheel drive was out. That's why you had to dump that load to get out.

There’s an o-ring in the wheel, between the two halves. Usually water gets in that area and rusts the metal an the o-ring leaks. ThoseMilitaryGuys and a few others have the replacements for sale. All you had to do was undo the outter nuts, separate the wheel halves, clean the rust, and replace the the o-ring. I feel sorry for the guy that has to do that now that you put that crap in there.

  • @morgansword

I hope it goes to a good home... those old school five speeds were most uncomfortable to shift so a thirteen speed would of cured it and just a small roadworthy trans. A ross power steering box an everyone will want to drive.... that is if you get a real seat although the ones that that truck came with are real good on the bounce... it was just a back killer... One definite thing was no having to tow it out of its own way often. In my honest opinion it has one too many rear axles for that small box to have or make home deliveries on gravel but it will pioneer though a lot. Its too big for small contractors and too small for real earth movers. Was it mine, I might leave as is on axles, transmissions or other but take that box off and put a fifth wheel in that place so that it could move a small lowboy trailer or hydraulic dump trailer that could haul say twelve to forteen yards of waste from a conveyor in a mill. I used one set up like that with not too many hiccups. Its always going to be a little harder to use than the conventional trucks we have been spoiled on. One guy up here used his for mining and it was set up just like yours is. That truck would move load for load on any stuff on the squirrel trails we "called roads". Another guy swapped a old chevy truck cab on his, painted it so pretty that you just wouldn't believe. He had a 750 Holmes wrecker bed on it. That truck was worn to the bone up here on the end of the world highways. Like always Cris, looking good and wishing a great year

those will leak air out rapidly as soon as you start to loosen the split rim bolts and as you see, there's a good inch or more thread sticking out past the back side of nuts.
so, very minimal chance of it blowing apart and killing anyone. now the old "split ring" style are a death trap, the ring on those goes between the tire bead and the smaller diameter rim "locking" it on loosely. if you mess up on one of those or the ring loses hold of the rim, KA-BOOM you get split ring, the tire, tube and other debris blown into you

    I think it's a Kiaser M54 5 ton dump, the older M34 had a Multi-fuel in line 6 cyl. in it originally
(Meaning tactically the engine could be tuned to burn Diesel or Gasoline ) which ever fuel
was most available in the battlefield.

    • @Slim_Slid
      @Slim_Slid 4 года назад

You are false about both trucks.
      1.The M54 is a 5 Ton Cargo Truck.
      2.The M51 is a 5 Ton Dump Truck.
      3.This is not either of them,it is a M817A1.
4.The M34 is the "Eagle Beaver" and NEVER was Multi-Fuel,they were all Gasoline and were soley based off of the GMC M135-M211 while having a M35 Cab.
5.The M35 is the one that was Multi-Fuel,but that was for the M35A1 & M35A2-M342A2 only, the M35 was Gasoline as well for some years.
6.Although Gasoline can be used in a 7.8L,it won't work very well.A Multi-Fuel is still a Diesel Engine that just has different Injectors,Pumps, and Pistons which allow it to Consume any Flammables. If you were to do so,you will need Motor Oil or Diesel and it has to be Mixed. It has to be 30%/70%,so for example,if you have 10 Gallons of both Fuels in one of those,3 Gallons have to be Gasoline but it needs 7 Gallons of Oil/Diesel to keep it Lubricated.
7.Going back to the M51-M62,M348,M548,etc 5 Ton Trucks, those were Multi-Fuel also, but that was only for the M51A2-M62A2,M348A2,M548A2,etc.The M51A1-M62A1,M348A1,M548A1,etc has the EDNT-673 Thermodyne from Mack and then the M51-M62,M348,M548,etc are all Gas Trucks.

I'd have thought that would be worth more than 7500. It's gotta be worth at least that much as scrap.

You need to par a bucket of soapy water on the tire and it will show up a leak on the tire

That would be fun driving around Fort Myers area, then when you can't quite get by someone just hit them. The rim probably has a bad O ring in split rim

Would anyone recommend one of these trucks for a starting out excavation company? Truck, trailer, mini ex? Seem too many videos from other youtubers getting their dump trucks stuck.
I'd love Chris' opinion on this.
