@@strawberrylime33 i havent read daughter of the moon goddess, but idk how to describe it other than being like a fairytale, just really gorgeous. But it's also got that dark gothic vibe and at the same time i felt kinda nostalgic cuz it's a story of growing up as little girls with big imaginations, ugh i loved it
The way you just described A River Enchanted as the "better parts of Reign and the better parts of Outlander" made me bump that book higher up on my TBR so fast
Lately, I've been seeing a lot of people fawning over Yona of the Dawn, and it makes me SO. HAPPY. It's one of my all-time favourite manga series-stories in general, really-but it's so tragically underrated. 😭💙 So I'm glad you've picked it up, and you're enjoying it!! 😆
OUABH is my favorite series ever. I have never found so much hope in a book that swept me away into a fairytale and taught me a lot about not giving up on dreams and that love doesn'T always happen at first sights and first interactions and that there is so much depth to it that was wonderful experiencing it. Also Jacks
i am also currently looking for whimsical fantasy vibes so this video was perfect 💗 and you're so right sometimes all we need are the vibes of the book and the actual plot is a second priority!! I TOO WAS OBSESSED WITH REIGN oh my goodness it's been so long since i last thought of that show but wow was I a fool for that trainwreck 😭😭
Dude, She is literally the first person I have ever heard talk about 'Yona of the dawn'. Like that book is SO underrated and it deserves so much better. When she talked about how much she loved the book, it was so damn relatable. I agree with the fact that it is a literal crime that they didn't give us any more seasons of the anime.
YONA OF THE DAWN definitely needs more anime adaptation. I read them a few years ago and obsessed will be an understatement. i loved every character of this it was too good
Almond was healing and heartbreaking in such a perfect balance. And yes omg I loved the once upon a broken heart duology. just recently finished it and there are so many fanart-worthy scenes in there that I just kinda want a whole graphic novel. i love your videos so so much. 😍
i've read 20 books so far this year (i'm so proud of myself actually!!!) and the best ones so far were rule of wolves by leigh bardugo and kim jiyoung born 1982 by cho nam-joo!!
i LOVE!! that you love yona of the dawn so much! it is SO underrated, and i've been keeping up with the manga since 2014, catching up once a year. i think the latest arc has been a bit slow, but the arc that we've reached in the last couple years has been SO INCREDIBLY worth it. the payoff is amazing, so so worth the slow burn
I feel like we got very different reading tastes, but I just love hearing you articulate your thoughts/feelings/opinions, I was so happy to see this video pop up in my feed! Really love ur content 🫶🏼
Omg I was so excited when I saw you read more of yona bc I literally binged the entire anime and then read the entire manga in like 4 days during exams bc of you and it was literally amazing and took over my life. The water kiss ruined me and its all your fault.
Francis and Mary were everything to me, all the edits about them broke me every time. I watched and finished the show for Megan Follows though, I love her so much😂❤
I'm so happy you liked The Last tale of the Flower Bride! You convinced me to read As Long as the Lemon tree grows. Also, about The Little Prince: it fascinates how powerful this little story is. I reread so many times in my life and every time it has a different meaning. Thanks, Hannah!
So happy to see you back in my subscription feed :) Since you loved "As long as the lemon trees grow" i think you would love "Map of Salt and Stars". Its also about the Syrian revolution and we follow an eight year old girl as she tries to survive with her family. It describes the entire refugee experience, the horror that comes with it. Along with the historical bit, we parallelly follow a fantasy story about another Syrian girl and how she navigated a world that's so cruel. The thing that the book did best was to show the beauty as well as the horrors of human and human life, it showed the contrast and the consequences. The writing is very beautiful and lyrical. I would describe the writing as "sad, beautiful, tragic" Hope you pick it up and love it as much as I did!!
As long as the lemon tree grows left me heartbroken for days. That plot twist was, as you said, something most of us would have never read in our life. But, I love the author for not totally destroying us at the end.
the way you talked about binging Yona is the way I consumed Heartstopper and the novellas. That reading beast came out of nowhere this summer, and now I am also binging the show. Might just be how I read it, but it feels like such a Spring/Summer read, too.

I just finished A Fire Endless, the sequel to A River Enchanted, and I honestly loved it so much. I throughly enjoyed A River Enchanted, but I think A Fire Endless was even more interesting, and the relationships are SO good. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on it!
One of the few times I have to thank RUclips for suggesting me a new channel. Love your videos, especially the long ones, I've been watching them in the last few days. I was tired of book ytbers just being SO negative about books most of the time, your light hearted takes&thoughts are a pleasure to hear :)
Listening to you talk about "as long as the lemon trees grow" makes me want to cry again. This book broke me and made me sob sometimes I had to stop reading and cry. As an Arab and an Egyptian with my country that survived 2 revolutions and Syria didn't, it hits close to home and sometimes makes me feel ashamed as if we left them behind. It's so sad.
Just have to say thank you for talking about Beach Read in your romance ranking video. I finished this last night and adored this book. I never would have picked it up without your recommendation.
omg i used to love reign so much so when u mentioned that I immediately added A River Enchanted to my tbr aha, it was just a comfort show to me im not entirely sure why though aha
Ooh I loved a lot of the books you mentioned (A River Enchanted, Daughter of the Moon Goddesss, Last Tale of the Flower Bride). Also want to read As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow now because it sounds so good but sad 😭
you’re the reason i started yona of the dawn! i read the first 2 volumes back to back and i loved how it’s so funny and light hearted. i was giggling SO MUCH while reading it
Love that you're having a great reading year! OUABH & Ballad, The Last Tale, DotMG/HotSW and Beach Read are some of my favorite reads! If you haven't read Belladonna by Adalyn Grace, I think you would enjoy it. I'd put it somewhere in between OUABH and The Last Tale in terms of vibes! The Last Tale is definitely my top read of the year so far.
Some recommendations that will probably never make it to Hannah's TBR, but I gotta try! 1. The Girl with Ghost Eyes by M.H. Boroson 2. Carrie Soto Is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid 3. Mythic Journeys: Retold Myths and Legends 4. Paper Menagerie by Ken Liu 5. The Ivory Key by Akshaya Raman
I feel the same as you with Spare. I thought Harry pulled his punches too much when criticizing aspects of the royal family and their policies. There were also plenty of things that could have been cut. But talking about his childhood, the trauma of losing his mother so young, and the trauma of constantly having your life under global scrutiny were really strong and emotional. Dude clearly loves his wife too, which good for him. Last Tale of the Flower Bride was also a good read for me too. I didn't expect to love it so much, but it really took ahold of me and I could not put it down. The writing was just beautiful and I loved every second of it.
The last tale of the flower bride was absolutely brilliant. I reread it immediately after reading it once! The writing style is the best I've ever read. I'm so so glad you enjoyed it...... it's my favourite book of all time ❤️❤️
Yes!!! Another reign fan! Honestly I mostly just loved the costumes they were always insane. And Adelaide Kane is so pretty too. Was there for the vibes for sure hahaha
I'm so glad you liked The Last Tale of the Flower Bride! I really liked it as well. It was the same for me, with like digging up things I hadn't thought about in a long time.

I agree The Last Tale of the Flower Bride was sooo good! It’s definitely one of the best books I’ve ever read now. And I have a new obsession for gothic fairytales 🥲 like you, I also related to parts of the book and fell completely under the spell for Indigo. She was mesmerizing to read about and I loved her - she was complex and awful and I loved every bit of it. And I loved Azure so much. I felt for her 🫶🏻 this story hypnotized me until the very end. My god 🖤
I picked up Yona recently from your recommendations and I've been loving it! It's been so long since I've read an epic fantasy manga and it makes me so happy to see more people reading shoujo.
As Long as the Lemon Trees Grow...I know exactly what you mean...I too did not see that coming and it BROKE me. I had to put the book down, I could not believe what I was reading. That book is beautiful and everyone should read it. Check the trigger warnings, some scenes made me sick, were very hard to read, but at the same time is so worth it.
OMG! Now I need to pick up some of these books! The best book that I've read so far this year is A Terrible Kindness by Jo Browning Wroe, a great story of healing and compassion through the tragedy in Aberfan, Wales. Highly recommended.
The random comparison to Alchemy of Souls on the last book makes me think you could also do a "if you liked this k-drama, you should read ___" reccs video 😅
Ahhhhh you have no idea how long I've been looking for Yona of the Dawn, I once watched and forgot the name and now thanks to you I can watch it again 🥺
Im sooooo glad you caught up with Yona. Im actually only a vol ahead of you and i had to force myself to stop because i didnt want to catch up to most recent. It's too good it's just too good i cant handle the cliff hangers. I will admit i did scream when you held up vol 30 cause yes. That whole arc was just 🤌🤌🤌 the your hands give me strength line has ruined my life and made it better??? But yes everyone should watch and read Yona of the dawn it's so good.
The earrings look fab on you! On another note, It just shows how subjective an experience reading truly is. I picked up 'Sorcery Of Thorns' based on your recommendation and hated it so much. I know a lot of people love this book and it wasn't the world building itself that made me quit reading but the writing came across as overly pretentious and trying way too hard. It didn't flow naturally for me. Also would appreciate some inclusion of historical fiction as I feel it's often overlooked by so many Booktubers. Thank you.
I might be a little biased because it's my favourite book and also I simply adore Roshani Chokshi, but I would definitely suggest giving The Gilded Wolves another shot if you're ever up for it. I was a little skeptical just because of comparisons that people made to Six of Crows, which were definitely valid, but it's a completely different vibe and Roshani's writing is absolutely gorgeous. I was genuinely shocked by how relatable I found it, just in the sense that there was a lot for me to nerd out over like puzzles and linguistics and classical dance.
Finally you talked about yona of the dawn again ! I love this series soo muchh and have read all 40 volumes... Thankyou soo much for introducing me to anime especially fruits basket and yona of the dawn they are the best ❤️and you are right about once upon a broken heart series it have such a beautiful fairytale vibes i loved it and the ending broke me 🥺 and chain of thorns was a little disappointing even though i loved it i wish some scenes were given instead of just stating that they happened though it was one of my favourite series!
I loved As Long As The Lemon Trees Grow. I picked it up at B&N based off the cover and premise, glad it’s gaining traction. It’s an important book that needs recommended. Kinda gave me A Thousand Splendid Suns vibes, another one of my favorites.

Omg so happy that you’re back ✨
we have very different tastes in books, but your videos are always so lovely to have in the background and comforting
So glad you are back ❤I hope you're doing well
Hannah you need to watch the last 5 minutes of Reign’s series finale! It’s so satisfying after season 3 ahem
So excited for this video!! I’m getting back into reading rn ☺️
I loved As Long As The Lemon Trees Grow. I picked it up at B&N based off the cover and premise, glad it’s gaining traction. It’s an important book that needs recommended. Kinda gave me A Thousand Splendid Suns vibes, another one of my favorites.
