Whoa Nelley, 1969 and out of time. We got the VIN, we win: 9 for 1969 model year, E for Mahwah, NJ assembly, 61 for XL two door convertible, Y for 390 CID V8 with two barrel and the rest is the production sequence. The Mahwah, NJ plant operated from 1955 to 1980 and is referenced in the 1982 Bruce Springsteen song "Johnny 99". The location was used by Sharp for a time for their headquarters and now Jaguar and Amazing Savings are located there. We got the buck (tag) we're in luck: 76B for XL two door convertible, T for Red exterior paint, 6W for White interior trim, among other codes. We got the tag, we can brag: 76B for XL two door convertible, T for Red exterior paint, 6WA for White interior trim and convertible top, 23E for Friday May 23, 1969 production, 15 for Newark, NJ sales district, 2 for 2.75:1 rear axle ratio, non-locking, and X for FMX Cruise-O-Matic automatic transmission. Yes, this appears to be the correct door for this vehicle. Whoa Nelley, made in NJ and going away. That's it, time to quit. In rust, we do not trust. XL wouldn't sell. Cruise-O-Matic is nothing but static. Motorcraft needed a life raft. 390 and gotta go. 1969 and to some it used to be fine. Drop top took a big flop. Happy Turkey Day to all, and this one took a big fall. Going to get squished and many here, perhaps Benny, but nah, not the Google Man are going to be very, very pissed.

Lol, Always loved the Dash in the 1969-70 too, The way the Radio and HVAC Controls were all the way on the on the far Left!, I don't think anyone ever made a Aftermarket Radio for these so you ether stuck with Factory or mounted it under dash!, My Sisters had the AM/FM Stereo Radio with Door Speakers and 4x10s in that narrow rear deck being the Fastback.
The base engine was a 223 cubic inch (3.7 liter) "Mileage Maker" 6-cylinder. Other engine options included a 302 cubic inch engine that produced 220 horsepower
@@moonbeamskies3346 I know that they are both heaps of junk. The 400 is a known problem child and always was. It's an emission laden engine saddled with crappy carburetion, ignition, oil control and they were problematic from when they were new. The 390 V8 is no shining star. A Chevrolet 350 is a much smoother running and flexible engine.
I'm not sure I understand why someone junked this. Yeah it needs some help, but it doesn't look like it was beyond help. How many 69 Ford convertibles are still around? This seems to be a lot more desirable than a lot of the older cars that get junked.
"In rust we do not trust". Not worth anything, a real hooptie and you can find more solid examples to work with. This has been through a bunch of hooptie owners over the years and then it just sat. Time to go.
I don't think that these are the most desirable convertibles. I'm in 2 car clubs and have never seen one at a show or cruise. Even though most people think that anything over 15 years old is desirable and collectible, usually the only late 60s to mid 70s cars that I see at shows are Stangs, Vettes, and Camaros. I'm a Ford guy, and this is not something that I would rush out to buy. It's basically a sporty LTD
I agree...not the most desirable in the sea of Camaros, vetts, Mustangs, but you bring one to a meet and people will gravitate to it because...you really don't see many....mostly because they are....well in junk yards..lol I have a 63 GP and the same...you don't see many at shows/meets.
@@thebrain7065 No such thing as a "Camero", it's a Camaro. It probably got shelved from being junked over the years because it was a convertible and then it went through several hooptie owners before just getting scrapped. It appears it came from the Northeast, although that's just what the DSO code indicates.
Interesting, but really too far gone except perhaps for somebody with a deep wallet and inexplicable love for a sort of "meh" Ford. 1968 produced so many beautiful cars from the big three, but in '69, both Ford and GM seemed to lose their way styling-wise. Most would recover for 1970, but not all IMO.
One of my childhood friends mom had 1 of these ugly a** cars. We used to steal it on the weekend it wouldn't even do a burn out what a piece of c***. Lol..😂

What does the engine that is in it now look like to you?
@@garymckee63 A piece of crap. LOL. I'd have to look at it in more depth.
Some kind of 335 series engine is all I can tell from here.
@@googleusergp Agreed 👍
@roger628 Yes, it could be a 400 which is the worst engine l ever had in a Ford.
I like those ‘60s Ford cars. Particularly in convertible form. I hope the yard customers pick that unit clean to help preserve others.
Hey Benny thank you for the video, it's too bad she couldn't be saved!!🇺🇲🏁🏁🏁😎🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁

Wrong. The 223 was dropped after 1964. The base engine was the 240 six, introduced in 1965 and the same engine family as the 300 truck six.
I was 12 when this was new. I always liked these cars back in the day. I liked most of the cars back then. God help me, I'm a car whore!
Benny and the jets Always loved cars with the hideaway headlights it looks so cool happy Thanksgiving hopefully see you at the Daytona turkey run.
The curved dash was interesting.
Rust or Bust , in those Climes ' We Trust it will Rust.'
Back in early 1970s my dad had more then one ford Ltd s n he told me 351 Cleveland n Windsor r tractor engine 🇺🇲

That engine is a Cleveland of some sort and they didn't come out til 70.
Could have come with a 302, 351W, 390 or 429 in 69.
Any 1970 pontiac bonneville rear bumpers?
Dam i be there with yea in thanks heaven 😇

Neither as they are both pieces of crap. But the 400 is worse than the 390.
