hello, i would love to see a lesson of guitar songs you can do in order to improve i'm self taught so far with help from your videos, but at times i pick up songs that seem way out of my league at the moment, so im trying to find a route to work myself up to the point of these songs also maybe a place to get good reliable tabs either off a cheap subscription or free ultimate-guitar is not my favorite thing to use lol
Hey Marty, How about doing a show in the UK, somewhere in London would be ideal or a place called the alban arena St ALbans Hertfordshire nice venue, great lessons mate
I love how whenever I stumble upon a new song I want to learn, 9/10 times Marty already has a tutorial for it and I can always trust him to teach me good
Yes it is. I can’t even make it. I can’t stretch my index finger that far so I use my middle for it then use pinky on the second string. It doesn’t sound bad.
There Top Five things that I like about Marty's vids. 5. He doesn't get all tied up in music theory. 4. He doesn't "show off" and look at me and how great I am. 3. He uses easy peasy chords. It may not be in the same key as the recording or artist but that's what a capo is for. 2. MARTY CAN TEACH. Being able to play something is one thing, having THE ABILITY TO TEACH it is what matters. 1. He seems like he would be a pretty cool guy to hang out with.
Meh, you need music theory and analyzing songs is actually pretty good and man you neeed to LEANR FUCKING BAR CHORDS. Easy peasy chords wont gwt you anywhere...
@@dovydas4483 Yeah, ezpeasy chords get you there. You can play most of them as bar chords, the same chord shapes, anywhere on the neck. The root 6, 5 and 4 chord shapes easily slide up with a bar. If you bang away at metal music then the bar chord, actually the 3 note power chord is your go-to. As for music theory I have met a lot of folks who are self taught and play by ear, I know people who have been taught and know how to read music (tabs doesn't count), and I know people who act like they know music theory. Theory isn't essential to learn songs that you can play for others, neither are bar chords.
Mike is *_very far_* from "underrated" LOL. That's the most overused and misused word ever. His substantial chops and musical knowledge are widely recognized and respected by peers and fans alike - the total opposite of "underrated." I'm a jazzer and rocker who's been at it forever and still learn tons from studying his fresh imaginative techniques, voicings, and odd syncopation. His musical ideas are the secret sauce; it's what gives them their magical unusual sound that grabs your attention. Incubus wouldn't sound like Incubus without him. Mikey is the mf man bro, agreed.
Great job old man. I've been watching you for years. Have your lessons on DVDs. You're a great teacher. Like the grey in the beard. I'm 71, still love learning and love guitar.
One of my favourite songs ❤️ and I know how to play this song ... it’s a little bit tough for beginners but it’s a great song and I think everyone should learn this
Marty thanks for being my unpaid teachers assistant.. appreciate it ☺ I too have zillions of songs I can teach students, and any missing ones you _almost always_ have.. which is crazy. I mean ... 3k+ videos?? That's just *_mad_* bro. And (thankfully) good accuracy overall. Good ear! Def _cannot_ say that for everyone lol. While teaching students the process of figuring out tunes _completely_ on their own by ear is also extremely valuable, sometimes we'll just watch your tutorials together (or assign as homework), add/tweak a few things, answer questions, etc. You're my goto guy on YT not just for huge repertoire, but because you get to the point, don't waste time tryna be cutesy, and already _correctly_ worked out important details, saving me time. So thank you 🤙
Don't think that way man, when you're 42 you'll be thinking what the hell was I doing worrying about being old? So just enjoy being 32 years young. You don't get that age back, make the most of it.
Saw Incubus last night at Stone Pony in Asbury Park and they ended with Drive! When I woke up this morning I wanted to lean it and Voila- You had a comprehensive easy to follow tutorial. Thanks for another awesome lesson!!!!
These videos are awesome man. Gets me excited about playing again. I have had so many people try to teach me by using tabs and theory and a whole slew of other ways that never really connected. Watching and listening is so much easier for me. I pick up songs very quickly and makes me wanna keep playing.
Great lesson as always, Marty. Loved this song as a kid but could never figure out the strange chords it used. Congratulations on The Iridium gig as well, very happy for you -- if I lived in the area, I'd definitely go to thank you in person for all the guitar lessons you given out for free over the years.
I’m so thankful that you play the song at the intro of every video lol most of the time i can just watch where your hands are and figure it out but i know how the algorithms work bud i be lettin them videos play through
Love ya Marty! You’ve always provided quality lessons that have improved my guitar playing. Sending a sincere thank you for what you add to music by sharing the knowledge with us! 🙏🙌✨😎
Dude Marty, that can I say? You're just the best man. I'm clearly rendered speechless. Simple, easy and Just the best collection of song tutorials! Loads of love and blessings to you my friend.
