THANK YOU FOR THE VIDEO! I HAVE A SILLY QUESTION: DO I NEED THE HOMEBASE 3 IN ORDER TO CONNECT THE S100? OR CAN I HAVE IT CONECTED ONLY TO MY CELLPHONE? WHAT IS THE ADVANTAGE OF THE HOMEBASE 3 BESIDES THE LOCAL RECORDING?
@CarlosEduardoDaCosta you can use just your phone. The advantage of the homebase3 is it will process the videos to identify specific people, and extra storage outside of the 8gb built into the S100
Thank you, I was curious about the installation. Most people put it against the wall. But this situation is closer to what I have. I’m still on the fence because it doesn’t support homebase.
The lens is fixed in place. But the whole unit swivels left & right. Then the top and bottom lights can be turned separately to make the camera angling more discrete.
Hi, thanks for the video! Few questions: Will the light turn on if motion is in blacked out zone? Is the camera and light linked together or will the light turn on and not the camera in some cases? Final question is the camera obvious or discreet? Thank you so much for your help!
No, the privacy zones will not turn on the light, and the lights can be on without it recording, and the camera is very discreet. Most don't notice it's there as long as you have the status LED off
Hi Grant. Great video and thank you for going into so much detail. I've only ever used Reolink, but I'm considering trying out some Eufy products. I agree that it's a downside not having the ability to add SD cards like you can with just about every Reolink product. However, Reolink don't make a lot of the innovative types of products that Eufy seem to, hence why I'm looking over the fence. One question I wanted to ask was about setting routines. Reolink added routines to their app a while back whereby you could tell certain devices to alarm or send push alerts by pressing one button (devices could be grouped together to make it a literal one button press to activate the routine, then one button press to switch it off). Can you do this sort of thing within the Eufy app?
On the bright side, Eufy just made it so that you can use the HomeBase 3 as your expandable memory (its 1TB drive can be expanded up to 16tb too) for this device and a bunch more. As for the "Routines" I don't know of ways to set those up. I'm not sure what routines you would do with cameras though.
I have a routine that when I press one button, selected cameras will push alerts to my phone and will audibly alarm if they detect movement. When I wake up, I press one button to put them back to a dormant state. It’s very similar to setting a house alarm on and off. Essentially a widget that helps you group devices and change settings with ease.
Of all the Eufy videos you are the first to show these setups… thank you as I did want to call and look stupid. Maybe they do have a video explaining this but you did it from a layman’s point of viewon and not a programmer
Do these have pre-buffering? I used to have Netatmo Presence and that had it but just today I got the Eufy S100 it doesn’t show any pre-recorded before motion. After I got used to this it’s just hard to loose this feature.
I can't speak for your phone, but I can take the wireless dongle for my Logitech keyboard/trackpad, plug it into a USB-A to USB-C adapter, plug that into the USB-C port on my Google Pixel phone, the keyboard and trackpad are then functional on my phone. If you don't need an external keyboard, you might just be able to plug in a wireless mouse dongle. Worth trying.
@@GrantButler You were saying it's difficult to draw boundaries on your phone. With your finger, it is. So, connect a mouse or touchpad to your phone, making drawing boundaries far easier.
Hello Grant Butler I am wondering which security light camera to choose? May I ask Eufy Security Camera & Tapo Wireless Security Camera, which one would be better, in your experience? Thank you Grant Butler
Thank you very much for the in depth review, very helpful. Could you please let me know if it has this feature?- I’m wondering if I could set the light to dusk to dawn mode with the light power low. Then, have the light change to brighter when it detects motion. Thanks much!
great review❤. may i suggest (if you don't mind) adding music to future videos, it always makes it better to add some. RUclips creators lab has plenty of royalty-free collection. i also know some channels that has a wide verity of free music.
No you cannot. I have two of these. One on each porch. You can set the alert volume. But even low is loud. I'm not at home and wanted to turn off the audible alert during Halloween visits but still do the crazy colors with the light... but no can do! Had to snooze or turn off motion detection. Edit: OK you can setup a custom lights only security alert...means taking off my geofencing for now but that is fine. So correction you can do it but it's a little work for last minute on Halloween while I'm away lol, so yeah create it now so you can switch to it when needed.
@@GrantButler Thanks Grant. I thought it might be a problem but my electric box is on the ceiling with my current flood light. Maybe I can get something else.
@awaverly absolutely, check out the Floodlight Cam if you don't need colors. It can be mounted both ways. Here's my video on that one: ruclips.net/video/nWfZLZNusjs/видео.html (They also just came out with a new update one too)
Finally a person that shows the actual install. First time watching your reviews, and will continue doing so. Keep it up 👍🏻
Thanks! I've felt the same way about a lot of videos that I've gone to
Perfect, just received my wall light camera, installing on my deck on vinyl siding, removing an older light. Thanks for a very good post.
I'm so happy the video was helpful 👍 thanks for watching!

Is not possible to rotate only the camera lens? Almost a little bit? You have to rotate the whole light? Thanks

can the lights be programmed to come on automatically at night?

@johnadam5702 I thought they used to have schedules that could do that, but I can't find it today. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place.
Can this .. be ( by code ) be mounted with direct wiring ? I dont have a box just i wire out the wall
I'm not sure. Depends on what code is where you live.

It does have about 2 seconds before the motion that enters the frame.

Can it be mounted to the ceiling under the overhang outside?
Technically yes. The only downside would be the camera points slightly down, so when mounted above head it would be looking off to the side.

That means it's recording movement
Black nail polish blob on the light ? Will that affect recording ?
