Dang, so glad I discovered your channel. Seriously your brews are the easiest to recreate and they are HIGH quality. Thank you. I’m from the US but am gonna make sure I stop by your shop when i visit Vancouver.
single pour v60 is my favorite especially when trying new beans…your tips on keeping consistent w/grind size and dose and how to control gasses I’ve found super helpful as a noob to pour overs. Much appreciate you sharing your philosophy and techniques! ❤
Aww thank you so much! Really appreciate this. I try to just share what's in my brain, sometimes I might be the most clear with things cause maybe too many things I wanna share HAHAHA I'll keep doing my best to share my ideas with you guys!
I have an updated version of the first tip. Use cafec filters. They have several benefits over the standard v60 filters 1. They actually fit the v60 (no need to do weird folds) 2. They don’t clog as easily. 3. They allow you to dial the flow rate of your filter to your specific coffee. They have multiple filter choices that all have different flow rates.
@@TALESCOFFEE tbh the folding thing is....debatable if your filter is super sucked into the walls it may brew differently as in more like cone drippers that have perfectly smooth walls. slower flow. not necessarily better or worse. depends on ur coffee and technique imo
I dont reaaallly get the second tip. I use the hario mugen. So you want me to either stir as soon as i have poured all the water in, or alternatively create much agitation when pouring, is that right? Thank you!
I don't know where you buy your v60 filters but the ones I get from Amazon here in Germany are tipically to narrow on the top - so your indet would make things worse...if I fold it so that the top is wider than the tip, it will fit. The way you do it on the other hand will result in even more air between the v60 and the filter
Oh really! That’s interesting actually, mine are generally Japanese made, sometimes I’ll go for the American one. . I know their textures are different so the European one has the slowest flow rate. I wasn’t aware the sizes are different either!
@@TALESCOFFEE I do have to add that I bought size 3. The filters are manufactured in Holand. It says Hario on the package but somehow they are different. Like I said, for some reason they are too narrw on the top...I wish they'd sell the Japanese ones around here again... sometimes they'll pop up somewhere but it's never size 3 then... I prefer size three because I typically brew between 0.5 and 0.8 liters in the morning.
Absolutely not, but it's piling on the corrections that make us better. There's a slight more bitterness if you hit the opposite side tho that I've noticed it's hardly noticeable. But my stir stick doesn't move as nicely :D
Ihhhh if you’re having grinds move up the walls it just means they’re under extracted. Make sure to use more movement or pour slower to fully extract it. If you’re having issues please dm me a picture on ig for help!
I just can’t deal with a paper that doesn’t fit correctly.I figured out the fold on my own and then moved over to Cafec T90 they fit the plastic V60’s perfectly and satisfactory fit on the ceramic with some adjustments.Did the old Hario papers fit correctly?I used flat bottoms exclusively for 8 years and only recently moved over so I missed the old papers. It seems like Hario needs to make a proprietary paper that’s correct.
@@elephaux5671 you have to fold next to seam at a precise angle and do it perfectly in order to reduce bypass. With Cafec you just fold along seam and done.
I don't see how folding your filters is a tip. It's just literally part of the basic instructions on the filter papers. Are you patronising your audience or should I question your competence?

Ooo thanks for the Cafec filter tips. I used them a while back and have completely forgotten about them hhhhh
also cost 3-4 times as much here in india 😢
@@achalgoel1 it may still be worth it. I really like the abacas.
sibarist fast filters too

I think that W60 is a little bigger and fits the filters better? I ordered v60 and w60 and did the dry run of the filter.
You’re still supposed to use the 02 because the w60 expects you to use the mesh filter on top
Love the tips, but do you have the link?
Yes it's pinned now! You beat us to first comment 🤣
@@TALESCOFFEE Hahahaha consider me a fan then! Love the often overlooked aspects of coffee y'all find!
Can you really determine in a blind test a) which direction the filter was folded, and b) that the direction you recommended tastes actually better?

It literally tells you to fold the paper in the instructions on every pack of Hario filters.

Why do you use white filters instead of brown?
Grounds man grounds
1. Buy the filters with no tab 🤦♀️
4th tip: use the aeropress. Your welcome.
TRUE tho, I do think immersion tastes better but you know .. :D v60 for learning how water and beans react better hehehehehe

.. did you know jt doesn’t fit properly .. it’s literally if you fold at the line it doesn’t fit. Or did you not watch at all.
