Has Sifd explained why he doesn't like picking up the metal detector? 5% chance when you're picking up 500 per wave and a chance to double some of the carried 2x bonus from a previous round for 4x? Seems like the item would pay for itself over the course of a run and it doesn't fall off like harvesting does after wave 20.
It is just a bad item. The items always tell you how much damage they dealt and how much material they gained. My metal detector costed 86 material and picked up 26 material after 6 rounds. I was shocked how little it provided. Maybe it was not the right build for the metal detector, but it is kinda bad. (luck also increases material pickups, so it probably did more.) But in total, taking into account, the material inflation, that items in the shop increase in price every round. The metal detector is an item, that due to the inflation may even have a negative investment return. Compare that to the harvest mechanic, the tractor costs around 160 materials and gives 40 harvest and -8 damage. -Even if it isn’t the right item for your build, it pays for itself in 4 rounds. The metal detector is just underwhelming, it is better to save the material. Only picking it up in a box it may be worth it.
4:00 Sifd you are falling into the frictionless vacuum fallacy. This is where you disregard all other effects acting on an object and assume it acts independently. Properly considering the damage vs the harvesting requires you to consider that the extra damage results in more kills over time, leading to increased exp and money. It’s far more likely that the 50 coins from harvesting is far outweighed by the damage over time, consider that a coffee costs 40 coins, but gaining an extra level from the kills could have resulted in a 10% atk speed perk, extra 1HP and no -3% damage loss while levelling.
Losing 2 harvesting on wave 5 = losing 60 materials is one way to look at it, but the whole story can be a lot less simple. For example, say a basic enemy has 20hp on the next wave, and you're dealing 18 damage... and the 2 melee damage from charcoal takes you to dealing 20... well you're probably going to make back that money and more right there on wave 6. but you'll also have it immediately on the next shop instead of trickled over 15 waves... which means you can turn it into even more value sooner... Damage makes money better imo, basically :p
but if you do the maths you get every wave antoher x% of youre harvesting either positiv or negativ so if you got some harvesting in first the coal should pay out in the whole run ^^ but only if you already got some harvesting ofc but anyways very nice video youre voice just calms me down ;D
Minimalist, a potato that looses money per bought item, therefore making you playing with lowest possible number of items! His main weapon could be "The Shranzer" , booming victims away with monotone rythm
I swear I asked for a full scissor build 2 video ago.... Edit: just watched wonderbots play hammers of avalt roguelike.. sift please play that game there's a busted hammer build with insane dmg stagger dmg.. his hammer does 100% crit chance on staggered enemies which you can buy for 300 coins, enemies stagger alot with hammers, there's a book that give 220% increased dmg on cursed enemy.. now there's two ways to curse from what I saw either perfect block or curse inflicts when you inflict bleed.. he had 70 dmg on his hammer which means he would hit 400+ dmg on staggered/cursed enemies which is basically 3 hitting a boss yes bosses can be staggered just as easy
Loosing income when buying character? Saver literally uses piggibank to multiply money after shops (which means it's quite weak early game because +50% price on shop and the mobile version is almost impossible to complete run with him because first 8 waves you don't have enough regen nor maxhp)which is basically that, no?

I’m pretty sure it’s because of the -5% damage

Horde stages should include a loot goblin in the last 10s, or something similar.
So I used this dude and managed to get positive attack speed, and my medical guns were attacking so fast that they felt like miniguns
