    So amazing to see how the 'Fantasmic' tech team gets prepared for the show. It's cool to see the tech team be out on the Rivers & America & Tom Sawyer's Island and see how they pop up the speakers, lighting system, bring out the pyrotechnic barges, etc..
    I don't know it just fascinates me 😊😳

    Crazy that they replaced the spot ops with the new projectors. I'm still on the fence about the new additions.
    Fun facts: they had to open up an area in the side of the dragon lift to hide the magic carpet. Also, the stage manager's "call sign" is Fantasmic 1.

    So what do they do to weatherproof the moving heads for Fantasmic? AFAIK For World of Color they are encased in a globe. What is Disney using for their newer fixed line arrays /point sourced ? Meyer? I know that old theater adjacent to Monsters inc are using old EAW's

    • @InsideAudio
      @InsideAudio  7 лет назад +2

      The moving heads are exposed at Fantasmic. World of Color is a very wet environment, so they're required to use Tempest enclosures. As for audio, Fantasmic's main system remains the same: four stacks of two d&b audiotechnik J8s on top of two J-SUBs distributed around the main island. The delays are d&b audiotechnik Yi7Ps, which replace the Meyer Sound UPA-1Cs. The Hyperion Theater no longer uses an EAW KF861 array. They've since been replaced by the d&b audiotechnik V-Series.

    • @InsideAudio
      @InsideAudio  4 года назад +5

      It depends on the installation. Generally, they seem to favor Robe, Claypaky and Vari-Lite for their higher profile applications. I've also seen some SGM, Elation and High End Systems fixtures floating around as well.

    I'm wondering why they need speakers when they already have speakers built into those light posts.

    • @InsideAudio
      @InsideAudio  5 лет назад +4

      Hi Robert, those specific speakers aren't loud enough to cover the area, hence the additional poles.

    • @JonathanGrahamVideo
      @JonathanGrahamVideo Год назад

      I think the speakers around the park are older and not built for the level of decibels needed to cover a show like fantasmic. They are fine for the normal background music. For shows like Fantasmic they bring in the Big Daddys

  • @josephmadden2067

    Those look like ROBE BMFLs on the tower. Which are not weatherproof by any means? Do they cover and not use them on nights when rain is expected?

    • @InsideAudio
      @InsideAudio  Год назад

      I've never seen the show operate during the rain. That said, the fixtures do get exposed to moisture. The towers on the island are especially prone to moisture from the mist screens. The BMFLs on top of the towers are covered before they go into storage each night.

    Didn’t each lighting tower have two tech crew members running follow spots back in the day? I have a distinct memory of seeing people in the towers, which is why they didn’t raise to show position until right before each performance began.

    • @InsideAudio

      Yes, they used to have two follow spot operators a few years ago before Fantasmic 2.0. They've been replaced by automated Robe BMFL WashBeams.

    I really enjoyed this video, thanks! I subscribed, hoping you'll do more in the future. ;)
    Now if you're lucky enough to be able to, I suggest you to come over here in France at Le Puy du Fou. It's not your usual theme park, it's more a show-oriented place. And on a technical standpoint, it's AWESOME! They hid the speakers really well, yet they still have a wonderful (and spatialized) sound quality, and same for all the show elements such as lights or mechanisms.
    La Cinéscénie is the biggest show (you have to book like 6 months in advance) and has really some spectacular infrastructure.
