  • This has got to be the largest snake I have ever seen on a safari. Now finding and seeing snakes on game drive is not a common occurrence, generally they are quite shy and move away from the vehicles.
    But we were at Marataba Game Reserve at Marataba safari Lodge, where we went on a water safari called Miss Mara, a unique safari experience in South Africa.
    As we drifted along the Matlabas river we came across this massive snake that was busy swallowing a female impala.

      @@ffwildlifephotography all part of the journey! Some days we get it right and other days not. These kind of quality sightings is sometimes tricky to get clear 5/5 visuals, so you go with what you’ve got like you’ve done here and that becomes quality itself when well presented 👏🏻✊

    This is a Southern African python. Its not correct to call them African rock pythons because people will think you are referring to Python Sebae, but this is an entirely different species called Python Natalensis.
