Dr. Mufti Yasir Nadeem, aka Mufti Yasir Nadeem al Wajidi is the director of Darul Uloom Online, a lead teacher of the Institute of Islamic Education Elgin IL. USA and Jamiatul Hasnain Indiana USA. He is a writer, a public speaker and a strong voice for the rights of minorities in India. He is the host of an online talk show, Surgical Strike. He is also the deputy chairman of an Islamic research journal, Islamic Literature Review.
He graduated from Darul Uloom Deoband in the year 2001. He also completed a one year course in the Arabic Language and Literature in 2002, and followed that with a one year Ifta (Legal Verdicts) course in 2003. In 2004, he moved to the United States of America (USA) to earn a postgraduate degree in Arabic literature in 2005. In 2012, he completed his Ph.D. at the International Islamic University, Malaysia and his area of specialization was the Prophetic Sciences.
He authored a best seller in 2004, Globalization and Islam. In 2014, he authored an Urdu book, Tarikh e Tajdeed e Deen and a trilingual dictionary, al Qamus al Asri.

May Allah bless you all. As a researcher, I recognize that in many instances, we do not deal with exact percentages but rather with fractions. As Mufti Sahib has pointed out, the Quran is not a mathematical text but a literary miracle. Therefore, we must appreciate this aspect when incorporating such nuances into our academic writings.

When making concrete for construction different ratios are used like 1:2:4. 1 part of cement, 2 of sand, and 4 of crushed stone. total shares are 1+2+4=7. 7 means 700% but we are dealing with parts here and total is not necessary to be 1. Now if concrete if 100 then cement will be 1/7*100, sand will be 2/7*100, and crush will be 4/7*100.
So don't worry if shares don't sum to 1. It is no difficult to handle that.
If you do same inheritance in percentage than for each relatives you have to calculate percentage again and again. So using share here make things easy. Only thing to note that share can have variable sum not just 1 as with percentage or more important 'factors'.
Consider two person having equal share can have share 1/2 each. But another third person came and invest 1/2 share worth of amount so we can recalculate all three persons share as 1/3 but it will no longer be easy if there are a lot of person. So we can give third person 1/2 share. Total shares become 2/3 and it is fine because now you don't have to recalculate all persons share as you have variable 'sum of shares' which you can use as I did at the top most example.
And do you what happens when a country prints its currency while it have same amount of dollar as reserve. Public will have same amount of currency but its worth will decrease. And also the currency wont necessary to be 100% or 1.
As an older time example consider three persons sell their camels and get 100. 1st person had 2 camels 2nd had 3 and 3rd had 5. Total are 10. Now camel amount can be taken as share but total is 10 and it does'nt matter. First person will get 2/10*100. 2nd one gets 3/10*100 and 3rd one gets 5/10*100. Here division by 10 ensures we have a factor which somes to one so all person in total gets 100, no more no less. Similary when wife share changes from 1/4 to 1/8 then it is not guaranteed that total shares will ne 1 until you changes all others shares but that is a waste of time changing all parties share when one party enter or its share changes. We can do the math to handle that and book can be made to the point.

As a human may have different personalities in on person/human, and every personality may represent different persons; in the same way Christian idea God has three personalities in one being. Every of them plays different roles. It's possible as far as I think.
Let's say a man passed away, leaving both parents, 2+ daughters, and a wife. The amount of money/property each person/group would inherit would then be:
2/3 for the daughters split amongst each other
1/8 for the wife
1/6 for mother
1/6 for father
Adding up these fractions would then give us a total of, using 24 as the common denominator:
16/24 + 3/8 + (4/24)x2
=27/24
1.125 or 112.5% of the original sum. This makes absolute no sense
Shares are not always equal to 1. Consider in concrete cement sand crush ratio is 1:2:4. Total is 7 and we use 1/7, 2/7, 4/7 which will give 1 but it is we who will do this math not the one that will provide the ratio 1:2:4.
@@zulfiqarali4888 suppose a man dies and leaves 100 Rs for his family .. So 2/3 for his daughters = 66.66 + 1/8 for wife =12.5 + 1/6 for Mother =16.66 and 1/6 for father =16.66 .. So out of 100 Rs according to Quran we have distributed 112.48 ... This makes absolute no sense
