  • Ken "Pooch" van Druten is truly no stranger behind the FOH faders. He mixes metal legends like Iron Maiden or US rap icon Travis Scott. EventElevator met him for the series "From The Desk Of" at Iron Maiden's "Future Past Tour" in Germany. In the interview, he explains in detail which technical changes he made to his setup after the Corona period. Furthermore, the sound expert reveals some interesting details about his current mixing techniques with the DiGiCo SD7 desk and about his favorite plug-ins. An exciting chat in which you can feel that Mr. Pooch is really on fire for live mixing even after all these years.

      Pooch is in great sync with the band and whole IM crew for years and is still trying to move up a level. Despite his experience, he remains open and shares his knowledge. Such a great person and a true expert.

      You are right. Pooch's CV and knowledge is really impressive. But he stays grounded and is always interested in giving something back to the community 🙌. And that is very important and makes him so likeable.

    I hollered at you after the Sioux Fall SD show in Oct 2021(off to your SL)...It would have been Awesome to actually meet you, (..but House Security wouldn't allow me to..) I've been following your stuff for a while now, and as Fan of Maiden,...and many other 80's Metal Bands, I feel that YOU...and of course, "Big Mick",.. are The "VOICE" of the Classic Metal World. Keep up the AWESOME Job of doing what you do, and PLEASE don't stop Teaching the rest of us... I mix FOH for a Night Club in NW Iowa and it doesn't matter if your a Country Band or POP/Dance Band...it's gonna sound like a Fkng ROCK Band!

    My kick trick was going direct out I think or y cord into.some kinda drum processor …thunder kick…tuned way down run back into channel two with tight gate which was a peavy 5 ch gate hehe…. But it was my mixing on that stuff that got me on my first tour never looked back…
    I wonder how it sounded…?

    What's the exact Neve Device Ken Talks about to wide specific frequencies and to bring forward the bass in his main mix?

    • @EventElevator
      @EventElevator  Год назад +2

      In his outboard rack, Pooch has two Rupert Neve Designs Portico II Master Buss units, there is a special stereo field editor inside. Furthermore, the outboard also contains, for example, also a Sonic Farm Dreamliner III. So even Mr. Pooch can't do without an a little bit of outboard. The love for a few buttons is strong in all of us. 🎛💗

      Oh boy, these names are born when autocorrection intervenes. You are right, of course -- CCCCreamliner is correct. But of course it would be interesting for an even super softer new development for Sonic Farm. 🤪
