He's incredibly good, like John is. Clay is soulful in a more of a traditional way and John is soulful in a more modern brainy kinda way and of course plays exceptional (blues) guitar.
This particular performance of this song is very very good. Maybe just maybe better than John. I do love the old video of them playing and singing this song together.
I love John Mayer but Clay does Comfortable a million times better. If this is the result of their two heads together, well they should've stayed together.
I need to know how much of the song is Clay and how much is John .. if its mostly Clay that would explain why 1) its my favorite John Mayer Song and 2) whiy it didnt get on Room for Squares ..
Some, but not his very best... and John is a way more prolific. And I have to disagree about the singing, they are both naturals, blessed with gorgeous tone. And the Zac Brown band is super popular, it's not like Clay is hurting. In addition to that, John Mayer is a bluesman as well and would probably love playing in the Zac Brown band too. They are both well off, white, suburban, Berklee drop outs. It bothers me every time I hear this song, regardless of which one is singing it (Clay does better) because , most likely the majority of people in the audience can't distinguish Miles from Coltrane like the music nerds who wrote the song... Personally I don't care for Miles or Coltrane.
I just remembered that time at the market You snuck up behind me and jumped on my shopping cart And rode down aisle 5 You looked behind you and smiled back at me Crashed into a rack full of magazines They asked us if we could leave Can't remember what went wrong last September Though I'm sure you'd remind me if you had to Our love was comfortable and so broken in I sleep with this new girl I'm still getting used to My friends all approve, say she's gonna be good for me They throw me high fives She says the Bible is all that she reads And prefers that I not use profanity Your mouth was so dirty Life of the party And she swears that she's artsy But you could distinguish Miles from Coltrain Our love was comfortable and so broken in She's perfect So flawless Or so they say, hey Say, hey She thinks I can't see the smile that she's faking The poses for pictures that aren't being taken I loved you Gray sweat pants No makeup So perfect Our love was comfortable and so broken in She's perfect so flawless I'm not impressed I want you back Source: LyricFind Songwriters: John Clayton Mayer / Douglas Clay Cook
Getting kicked out of a grocery store is funny for a love song, and the lyrics undersell it just enough to make it humorous. Also adding a swear word when remembering his ex's potty mouth is à propos.
One of my favorite songs of all time
This song makes me cry it invokes so much emotion 😢 I’m not even going through a breakup lol
Man it would be awesome for him and John to do a duet of this song, that would be so awesome
Someone just dropped a vid from 1998 of them doing it together bro search it up
@Sachin thankss
So cool to hear Clay doing this tune.
Did you know he's actually the one who wrote it?! I was almost mad cause I wanted it to be john
@@knickymusic I thought John and Clay wrote it together at Berklee?
the set up and delivery of the "fucking dirty line" (especially for those who knew the song) was perfect. Beautiful performance.

the guitars for the song def came from this guy, the way his fingers just owned it , screams his name on those parts

I love John Mayer but Clay does Comfortable a million times better.

I don't know due, Zac Brown Band is really popular.
SOME OF MAYERS BEST SONGS***

Best? LOL
@@smokesgtpright?
Anyone know what guitar he is using. I know it's a martin Dreadnought, but model wise?
I think it's a d-28 or d-35
D-28. looks like its circa 1970...ish?
I just remembered that time at the market
You snuck up behind me and jumped on my shopping cart
And rode down aisle 5
You looked behind you and smiled back at me
Crashed into a rack full of magazines
They asked us if we could leave
Can't remember what went wrong last September
Though I'm sure you'd remind me if you had to
Our love was comfortable and so broken in
I sleep with this new girl I'm still getting used to
My friends all approve, say she's gonna be good for me
They throw me high fives
She says the Bible is all that she reads
And prefers that I not use profanity
Your mouth was so dirty
Life of the party
And she swears that she's artsy
But you could distinguish Miles from Coltrain
Our love was comfortable and so broken in
She's perfect
So flawless
Or so they say, hey
Say, hey
She thinks I can't see the smile that she's faking
The poses for pictures that aren't being taken
I loved you
Gray sweat pants
No makeup
So perfect
Our love was comfortable and so broken in
She's perfect
so flawless
I'm not impressed
I want you back

Hi would love to know what you think of my 17 year old grandsons cover of this ruclips.net/video/fNqKdjL9ZH4/видео.html
is clay and john in good terms till today?
Yes
I love you, man. I'm sorry for the trouble dude
I hear Martin sexton influences
Travis Meadows brought me here
Why is everybody laughing?
The lyrics are pretty witty which is why I think they’re laughing
Getting kicked out of a grocery store is funny for a love song, and the lyrics undersell it just enough to make it humorous. Also adding a swear word when remembering his ex's potty mouth is à propos.
better than mayer's (on the latest live, performing this song)
Who cares? They wrote it together.
Yea but John's always gonna be a better guitar player
Ellis D Please can we not compare 2 great musicians
@@ellisdouglas95 clay and John both are 10x better than u so don't compare
