- Hey guys! In this video I'll be trying out this weird dual ended sponge tool I got off ebay. It supposedly makes doing gradient designs easier, but does it really? I also show you to do this nude to neon gradient design that's perfect for summer! Don't forget to share a picture with me at my social medias below if you give this look a try!

I have the sponge brush, I found it for around $3 on eBay. I think it was Moyra that first came out with it for gel polish gradients. With gel polish you can wash out the sponge tips with alcohol. I also didn't have any issues with getting the sponges out or any flecks of sponge on my nails. 😊
This answered my question about changing out the sponge tip. No way could I do that with tacky nails! Thanks for saving me the $$$ and the hassle!
I really like the way gradients come out with ordinary, good-quality (but not beauty-blender expensive) cosmetic sponges- and that you can just snip and reuse- so when I saw these sponge tools I really didn't understand them! Your review pretty much confirms my immediate bias :D
Great review. This is the exact experience I had with this sponge tool. I thought it was just me, but now I think it must be the sponge. I went back to using a regular cosmetic sponge too.
Use it for glitter burnishing then you won’t have to change the sponge as often. I still want this just for glitter burnishing with gel polish. And because I’m obsessed with nail art tools... even if I don’t need them! Haha
Thanks for the honest review
Thank you for your honesty! I was this close to buying a few of those. I’ve learned that having the coolest new tools, polishes, pigments, decals ect. Isn’t always better. I have a big problem with seeing all the new nail stuff coming out and feeling like i need it when in reality i just watched you create a beautiful design with on the shelf polish and a make up sponge! Great job. Im going to do it now!!
Yeah I get that feeling too well. Definitely can pass on this item! Thank you for watching Caitlin! I appreciate your continued support!
You aren’t the first I’ve seen struggle with this product. It is so ridiculous, I’ll pass, love my ole cosmetic wedges! TFS and cute final look. 🧡
I love it! but i like the good old eyeshadow sponge for ombre😊👍💜
Those look fun! I’ll. Definitely see if I. Can try them
Great review, and very helpful. Guess as is often true, the old faithful products are the best. ☺️
I just recently watched a video about these and found out there’s a special polish needed to make these work . If I can find the video again I’ll post it here.
this looks so cute :D
So glad to see someone reviewing this, as I was considering getting some. It seems like the replacement sponge tips are almost as expensive as getting a new tool, so I was leery. Think I’ll just stick with the makeup sponges I can get at the dollar store. Your nails turned out so dang pretty, though! Thank you!
What I have seen the sponge tool used for was more advanced gradients or airbrush effects with nail vinyls. It seems more precise application is needed around the lateral folds of the nail?
I was really pumped to purchase this so thanks for saving me the 💰 !!
The shape of this product looks like the sponge of dream velvet from Maybelline lol; thank you for the honest review Juli! I love the mani 😍 the colors are on point, also I'll keep using regular makeup sponges 😂
This product makes me so mad. I appreciate your honest review since other influencers have failed to do that since it looks “more professional” than a 20 pack of reusable cosmetic sponges, that work better.
Bailey she’s not using it right, that’s why it does not look smooth
I have one of those and i was able to clean it with acetone, i first soaked the sponge and then dabbed it on paper multiple times. It worked but i am still struggling with gradients .
Interesting! I tried removing the excess polish on a paper towel and soaking the sponge in nail polish remover and it started to dissolve! I guess the sponge I got was extra low quality! 😅
I saw your nails on chinaglazeofficial's Instagram and I thought it looks so cool so I followed you and subscribed! This is so pretty! 😍💕
The tool seems to work good with acrylic paint. Check videos of Yagala here on RUclips. She uses these. Thanks Rose
Oh ok! I'll have to try it with acrylic paint and see if my results are any better! Thanks for the suggestion!
U think that areo sponge tip thing is probably better with gel (which i've seen on ig) since you flash cure it and it's easier to build up.
Cool mani , I think I’ll make my own tool like this 👌😍
This is a great review! Love the nail design as well!
I love your videos so much!!! 💕
great review. please do a review on rio professional nail art kit
This company should live by this motto- K.I.S.S. (Keep it simple sweetie)
Nice bringht colours😻
I loooove this 😍
Yay im early, remember me i was first last time i just wanted to say your awsome and the design is beautiful
More gel nail arts please!!!
Sponge brush worked good but not soooo good like the regular spong....!!! 😊😊😊 Juli, thanx for this wonderful video..... 😘😆😍😉😊🤔🤗☺️😗😙😎
That was an expensive bag of crap you bought! I love that design xxx
Love youuu so so so so much
what nail polish did you use for the lavender color on your thumb ? it's not listed in your description.
Thank you for the review.
Yeah, I'll just stick with my 88 cent pack of wedge sponges. Sveta makes these things look so easy lol. But I'm *definitely* doing this mani tomorrow!
Haha! Yep, can't go wrong with those 88 cent pack of sponges! 😆 I'd love to see your mani if you do give it a try! Thanks for watching!
How on earth do you get an even application with these sponges? Try as I might I cannot. I get uneven stipply effects. Do you think it is the quality of the sponge? I got my from Amazon, and it just doesn't work. Any advice please. Would love to conquer this.
They're not made for polish, they're only for gel paints - sorry to disappoint you :(
@@HappiSabi yes I do mean gel polish. Still haven't conquered it yet.
@@kimhardstaff4650 not even gel polish, gel paints - like gel creme consistency ❤️
I only have one question: why the hell does anyone use traditional nail lacquer anymore? It takes so long to dry! You can do gradients with gels and they cure in 60 seconds, 120 max.
With everything else I have to do, including the acrylic fill or set, I simply don’t have the time - or the patience to be perfectly honest.
I wonder if you'd have better luck using it for pigments and powders and you could use alcohol to clean it.
You are supposed to wet it first
juli!!! plz show u face one time plz i n next video plz
Did not like the sponge tool.
