its so fucking refreshing to hear people talk about this in good faith. Media is plagued with bad faith takes, this genuinely feels great to listen to people who arent already knee deep in the discourse talk about it like genuine curious human beings.
I love encountering people who are genuinely curious, yeah they might use hurtful language but as long as they don't mean harm, if they just don't know the correct terms than that's okay. It becomes an issue when it's hard to tell if people are actually looking to learn more or are acting dumb to make others upset, I usually take them for their word and try to educate without belittling.
I'm gay black and I live in the hood ! I hate when people say it's a currency to be gay now ! No the f its not ! I'm open but not proudly open about being gay because of the negative conditions that comes along with it. Imagine everyone knows your gay your whole life but being gay never comes up in conversation. 34 and me being gay is pretty much sweat under the rug. Yep I'm hispanic and I work blue collar I am turning 29 this year and barely started coming out to my family in the last several years, bit by bit. 2022 is the first time I told anyone I was dating a boy. I still have never come out at work. Blue collar guys treat you differently when they know you're gay. I've seen them do it to men who are out. The idea that it is 'popular" to be gay now is nothing more than cynical talking point

I'm a parent of trans, and it's a dysphoria. They know they're trans at a young age, all LGBTQ, especially trans are the nicest people who just want to live their life, they deal with lot of pain transitioning. I'm extremely protective of my adult child, most go thru depression, and medically the ups downs of dealing with medication, I actually am trying to obtain more education on sexuality studies to help others. I f*ing hate the political attacks and hate fear mongering, it needs to stop, let people be happy. Not all of them want surgeries. I met a trans at retail store and they changed their name, and their parents abandoned them, I love my children no matter what they want to be.
Reading parent of trans like mother of dragons, fr tho, hearing parents like you truly make my heart soar. People don’t understand that even if they can’t articulate what it is or what it means, queer children know that they are, by the definition of the word, queer. Weird. I genuinely thought i couldn’t like girls, bc I had a crush on a boy at one point, so instead of understanding, i just had to deal with the neurodivergence and the fact that people told me its lesbian or straight. The only thing that got me through that last year of public school was playing sudoku. Idk where the ramble led to, but i hope you have a wonderful day sending love mwuah

I’m a movie theater manager and I have 2 non-binary employees out of about 60 and they’re not even trans …. Movie theaters are also like an arts major hotspot for applications so it’s probably skewed

I love bringing up the numbers game to have people really think about all this trans panic. If you look at stats for high school kids that participate in sports, it's about 36% of the total population. Only 12% of that will be Varsity sports or competing at a high level. Most kids participate in sports for the enjoyment and social aspects. Only a fraction of those Varsity sports kids will go on to a D1 school to compete at the top level. With trans people only being 1-2% of the population we are talking about legislation that singles out like one person in the entire fucking state or region just to what? Make their lives awful? Would it be fair to pass a bill in Texas saying that anyone named Rafael Cruz can't run for any political office? Seems fucking weird even if he is a dementor.
