  • This is a great way to catch worms in your garden if you need to increase worm populations in certain areas of your garden. You can also use this method to increase worm populations in worm farms! Let me know if you try this!

    Hey there!
Welcome to my channel, The Nature Patch where I like to share all things gardening, cooking and environmental science in my Australian bushland backyard.
My name is Robyn, an environmental scientist working towards completing a PhD in understanding how people's wellbeing and their connection to nature is impacted by land use change. I've always loved gardening and nature and lately have been interested in growing my own organic food!
On this channel you'll find videos relating to my harvests, 'how to' videos, travel, composting, soil health, ecosystem services, and seed saving.
I try to upload twice a week and I hope you enjoy!!

Thank you that was so helpful and simple to follow. Some other people are too scientific for me, but you made it so easy to understand. Thank you. I just put in a hoop house with 2 twelve foot beds so I love your idea for getting worms to live in those beds.

I've been trying to catch some worms from some heavy leaf litter over the last two days using this method with a larger pot, and am really glad to see confirmation that it can work.

I have seen this system in your other videos but have never tried it, thanks for doing a video just on this as it has prompted me to JUST DO IT! It is sooo easy.

It really is so simple!! Just adds a little kick of nutrients into the garden too and can be moved to wherever. Let me know how it goes for you! And cheers for watching! 🥰

in my old house where there's plenty of mulch and faint moisture, i went there 3-4 days ago and took cow dung cakes. I moistened and softened it so that worms get attracted towards it.
I saw worms when i used to live but never realised there importance.
I have a set of red wrigglers and wanna get some local varieties mixed with them for my worm bin

Hi ya Robyn was just thinking of getting some worms going in me little areas the other day! Tipped over the last couple of trees at Mudgee n have done the holticulture method in a few spots on me place now - been having a lot of rain there lately and I can see that the moisture is held well - be good come summer for the veggies n fruit trees especially that I'm not always there to check on them

That’s fantastic!! The rain will be perfect for any new beds to get everything all settled. I’m sure the worms will find their way to them! Thanks for watching ☺️

Hi Robyn from Dawn in Cyprus. All my worms and snails I place in my compost areas. I find for me this is best as it really speeds up the compost breaking down - and as this is our only form of obtaining soil - it is the most important way for us. Can you advise me about ants - I have heard people saying to place an ant colony in your compost - but others saying not to? What are your thoughts on this? Thanks - and have a great day. Dawn.

I would wet the ground well. Run a broad fork on the spot. Wet well again. Put wet leaves mixed with corn meal and top with wet cardboard. The worms will love you
