I have been playing on and off for 18 years. I have never been able to do any percussive work. This channel is everything I need to start getting my jam on the acoustic. Thanks guys, love it
I discovered the percussive technique on guitar when I was having a bad guitar day while practice, I got up frantically and the end of my guitar hit the coffee table very loudly, and I noticed how different the strings sounded. It was a bittersweet feeling, that new ding on my guitar and the new discovery.
Just add myself to the list of greateful and admiring comments, after playing almost 30 years of guitar, I finally found a way to enter this amazing world of percussive finger style with your channel. Thanks so much, you're doing an amazing job here. Keep on rockin' in a free world...
i think its important to emphasize keeping a steady rhythm, dont try in incorporate abstract rhythms until you are very comfortable mixing multiple techniques together, i found that once i learned everything individually it was really easy to start augmenting them, i wished id started learning things in sequence XD
Awesome! I'm a beginner learning how to play the Guitarlele. This lesson is very helpful to me at this stage. I've played keyboards for years and I always wanted to learn guitar! I always thought the guitar was a percussion and stringed instrument! This lesson was just what I need to spice up my awkward strumming! 🙄🤓😜😎👍🏿💃🏾
Thanks for posting! Been playing a while and now I am working on getting the fundamentals right, this will provide a whole new dimension to my playing.
As soon as you started demonstrating the technique (with semibreves) I thought "ooh, that's powerful all right..." and it gave me a massive craving to rush and get my guitar (which I did as soon as the video was over :D)
One of the best percussive simple lessons easy to follow and i feel wow i can do this! thank you can't wait to watch more in this series. At time stamp 6:38 are you hitting the note at same time as percussive wrist or finger hit or one after another hammer, percussive hit, hammer, percussive hit, or same time?
Wow I never thought about know-hows playing percussion Guitar! I just always imitated the sounds which I hear from the drums. The position which you hit are much more elaborate than mine
although im a beginner myself, i have a tip: use some open tuning to not get distracted with the left hand. I always have one of my guitars tuned to open d so i noticed quickly that that was useful
Tab 1.1] 1:15 - Simple Beats Tab 1.2] 1:40 - Chord used E-major Tab 1.3] 2:00 - Dont know what to call this Tab 1.4] 2:20 - Down and Up strum Tab 1.5] 2:40 - Just some improv of stuff mentioned above Tab 1.6] 3:05 - Same Tab 1.5 but with steady beats Tab 1.7] 3:50 - Snare + Tab 1.1 Tab 1.8] 4:10 - Tab 1.7 + Some Strums Tab 1.9] 4:40 - Execute Snare as fingers hit guitar Tab 1.10] 5:00 - Again some improv of above stuff Tab 1.11] 5:25 - Using left hands on shoulders of guitar Tab 1.12] 5:50 - no idea what to call this Tab 1.13] 6:15 - Some Example of using C,D,F Tab 1.14] 7:10 - Some exercise Tab 1.15] 7:50 - Tab 1.14 but faster
Another thing, it’s definitely possible to strum and hit the snare sound at the same time with the first technique if you just have your thumb extended and strum down with it, maybe just a tad bit uncomfortable though.
I've been doing this technique for about a year and now the little bumpy bone on my wrist on my right hand is twice as big as the one on my left hand... don't think taht's normal.
The later portion of the exercise can be simplified further,, just remember 2 notes per beat. Keep this in mind, you will pick up this technique in no time!

Hi yes the percussion techniques do not require perfect or regular guitar technique - good luck 😎
I have a question when strumming like this is it the goal to hit all the strings like when you do e minor or e major
@@mandag34 its enough if you just hit the triad that defines the chord you are playing

Loved it! I’m like: “I can do this!”
Then I watch Marcin Patrzalek or Alexandr Misko and I’m like:
“Nah, who am I kidding?”
Well it starts somewhere, thing about music is non of its magic, just hard work!
i thought I was the only one whos here for this reason lol
@@derfinsniter5185Exactly Marcin has over 14 years of experience (more experience than I have been alive), but he wasn't always that good.
Just great. Apart from being a good guitar percussionist you are a good teacher. Very clear and demonstrative. Hoping to see more videos. God bless.
