The rest of the band is talented, it's a shame the lead singer is so untalented
Do you mean the mixed race one or the white one? Just in case you think I’m about to accuse you of racism - in the show the white one is actually the lead singer while the mixed race one singing in the monotone voice is singing like that on purpose because his role in the band is writing the lyrics.
They are acting their roles. The guy in the hat feels the music, writes the words but his character doesn't feel able to perform/sing. Having watched the series I feel warmth towards them all as a group, they've created something worth listening to, in my opinion.
