Target renegade was always my favorite game on the Amstrad CPC. Some of the games listed here I had no iddea even came out on Amstrad and I was especially surprised to see Shadow Dancer on there.
I have CPC464 with DM Printer, joystick. Wish I had never let my games & manual to that girl who came into the computer store I was working in a 10 years ago... never got them back! Nice video...loved Barbarian, Gauntlet, Price of Persia and Spy Vs Spy as a kid...
Nice little video! Playing music over the game sounds seemed adequate for the purpose this time. Nice selection too, good pace despite the Amstrad's love for slowdown. ;)
Here in Brazil in the 80's this wonderful computer did not was a available for sale sold (nor I knew anything about the !! CPC) at that time I wore a Brazilian clone of the ZX Spectrum (TK95) and it was phenomenal !! But today, knowing something about the CPC, I wonder how it would have been wonderful if I could have had such a machine at that time !!
great video. having got the amstrad for christmas as a young kid in its early days and trading for an amiga when that first came out i hadnt realised what fantastic games were released on the cpc
Thanks a lot to share this video,it gave me many emotions,feelings,i enjoyed so much playing with this computer in the 80's,some of the games reminds me great moments of my childhood and as a teenager,i began crying but it's marvellous people like you,keeping old computers,old video games (the most funny ever,not the same sensations now with the videogames of 2011 !) THANKS SO MUCH JESUSARNOLD :)))))
such awsome memories !! i've played almost all of them ! thank you ... that's remind me that , in france , we could download amstrad cpc video games with a device named minitel linked to the phone line and the joystick port of the CPC .... in 1988 !!! no kidding ... the steam grandfather ...
Trantor the Last Stormtrooper by David Perry. He Is known for newer games like MDK, Earthworm Jim, Messiah as well as Savage and many Mikro-Gen games on the Amstrad CPC
I knew nothing about this system until recently, and only know very little about it now. As a C64 fan this is not an easy thing to admit, but I have to say that this system looks incredible and seems to outperform the C64 in many areas. I've seen a few pics of the unit and it's a very nice looking machine. I see a few commenters here saying that the sound chip was its achilles' heel. But the graphics are stunning, tons better than even the NES. I can appreciate why those who owned one loved it.
Wow! I had never seen any Amstrad CPC games before. I'm surprised! The graphics generally look better than those for the Commodore 64, mostly due to the extended color palette. Nice!
@trocoloco Hey The CPC scene is small compared with C64 but hey, C64 got owned with the BF just because it is in recent years when people is starting to learn how to squeeze CPC's real capabilities, don't get too upset about it m8, and check out the new CPC stuff like Star Sabre or the Amstrad Sub Hunter version... u will get a surprise and see how jerky they play =)
@TheCarambah I owned a CPC464 & ZX Spectrum 48K in the 1980s, plus had weekly use of a friend's C64. We both acknowledged our micros had strengths & weaknesses, plus some games had better versions or genres on each machine. For example he was gutted when got Gryzor & Match Day II but then Wizball and Uridium were better on his. The audio was great on both actually if you appreciate the differences. Both superb computers that deserve credit & accolades in both directions! I own a C64 as well
the game at 2.42 is the excellent exolon made by hewson i think - pretty sure its a raffele gecco game or some thing like that. Propbably one of the best amstrad games ever made.
hey - do you know a game where you play a ship and you have go to all kinds of diffrent maps getting out of the ship and run to get bullets to fire at a barrier on the main map so you will be able to get the 3 stones in the bottom ????
You could have said: “Thank god I had an Amstrad CPC464. It was the best of the whole bunch, albeit the most expensive. I know, as my dad worked on one of these beasts, programming for a living. They were the most versatile and advanced micros at the time. I still have all the mags, books, printers, packaging and everything. I remember what a special occasion it was to play the games. We had to ask Dad to load them as we weren’t allowed to touch his work gear. It was too special and sacred. :)”
Does anyone know the name of the game at 9:23? It looks a lot like Crafton & Xunk, which is one of my favorites (and is at 5:25). Thanks for posting this.
Only thing that would have made this better, more useful would be the name of each game right before it plays or overlayed text. Still worth the upvote
i am happy that i can still play these wonderful games...... Can anyone please tell me what is the name of the game that appears at 1:52 til 2:02??? I am looking for it for a long time now..
wow man... it looks so good all....over here in the Netherlands everybody just used to own a C64, I knew one guy with a spectrum, one with an msx but nobody in my circle of friends used to own an Amstrad... the graphics seem real colourfull and rich...but onscreen movement sometimes sluggish..or it that the emulator???
The game at 4:47 was my absolute favourite. I would appreciate it if anyone could remind me the name, please. Is it available for download or as an online game? This is very heartwarming to see :)

@TheCarambah Yeah it's really weird to use software on the machine that was made for if you got one... So got anything more to get off your chest? I can't be asked talking to a wall no longer
If someone remembers a game called ONE please could you do a review on it and also please explain the plot as I remember the game well it's just I have no idea what the game is about or what the objective is at all .... If your not sure it's about a boy and his father who chases after him all the time and I think you have to collect items it something.

@TheCarambah
I agree it is not a common activity, otherwise the prices on Ebay would reflect this, i.e. much lower!
Only thing that would have made this better, more useful would be the name of each game right before it plays or overlayed text. Still worth the upvote
Mr Nukem Yes, I want to make this video with that.

Nice! Sinclair and Amstrad are not well known in the US, I think. The C64 and Atari were more popular on the other side of the Atlantic pond. Never got my hands on an Amstrad, but I remember how popular it was in, say, Germany. I was in Poland at the time, and Atari was more popular. I see I missed out a lot on not having had a chance on playing with the CPC.
My favourite was Head over Heals.
@thimy69 thanks!
