+Martin Sanchez That's what I was thinking, but I'm thinking that maybe the blogger has a restricted area where he can film. I believe most if not all of this bloggers videos are from Pyongyang. Pyongyang is the most advanced and richest part of the country. The suburbs and countryside are something I'm pretty sure that won't look anything like these videos. These videos can be propaganda themselves, for showing the city only. Again I could be wrong.
In watching the video he posted about buying street food in Pyongyang, you can see a guy at the beginning of the video, after the host exits his car, who is walking down the street holding a black briefcase. Later in the video, after the host and his companion have eaten, the same guy can be seen again as they walk back to their car. I wonder if he's some sort of monitor.
Are these South Korean DVD's smuggled into the country? I did spot a Squirrel and Hedgehog DVD but many others are American cartoons lol. What do the authorities do if you get caught watching foreign stuff, do they turn a blind eye?
One thing I have noticed, Jaka, in your videos is about the girls who run these stands, or the girls who work the cash registers at the stores you have been in. There may not be any customers around, but these girls/women are CONSTANTLY busy, doing something. Clicking away on the cash registers....writing things down on tickets...or like this girl at the DVD stand--she is constantly rearranging or shuffling or restacking her DVD's. A job I'd have finished in 20 minutes. Yet, these women are always busy. I don't understand it. What are they doing? How can they always be doing something? Is there that much work to do? Or are they making an effort just to appear busy all of the time? Like at the "privileged stores" in your other videos-- the women who were at the checkout counter were always clicking away with the mouse connected to their terminal, or writing things down on tickets or in books. They are NEVER just standing there looking like there is nothing to do. Why is this? With hardly any customers, there simply cannot be something to do all of the time. Like the girl running this DVD kiosk, she is constantly doing something!!
Maybe because they DO know they are being filmed and don't want to appear like they are lazy and may get in trouble? Usually employees make themselves look busy when someone important is on the premises or nearby. Maybe that's why? So this could all be fake just to show that NK is a "great" place.
the north koreans want to show that their country is good so when some foreigners visit them they're working hard but actually they don't, they're just acting.
I would assume a whole bunch of them are bored. When I worked in a shop once where I had nothing to do, I was constantly rearranging stuff and tried finding expired food items, lol
I don't know why regular tourists can't access these places. These places look more legit and wholesome than those staged exhibitions people see in guided tours.
I have seen all the tourist videos on youtube from DPRK,And it leaves me wanting to go soooo much.I make travel videos from all over the world and DPRK is now added to my list.I will definitely visit this country. You have a great channel Jaka,Hope you and your family are well......John.

you are a foreigner Working in North Korea ?
Indonesians at North Korea
This is because Indonesia has a very nice relations with north Korea and the Maoist world.Hope that explains it because I can even hear these guys speaking Indonesian
But dont assume Indonesians support north Korea.
More than 54% of Indonesians viewed north Korea negatively
They just manage to get to North Korea's "Friendlist"
Due to the Jakarta Beijing Pyongyang pact
@@Captain_wikee27 kata siapa bang, orang Indonesia rata2 netral kok
I never knew they sell Disney cartoons down there?? And how do you go around and film everything like that?? Hidden GoPro? Seems to me that a lot of reports about N Korea are exaggerated in negative way in the west....
you can film in NK. but people do this edgy thing that is saying that is forbidden so they can get their photos to get very popular and wide spread.
from previous videos i saw him have the cam near his belly that's why it seems as if he is not filming anything. :) ikr? like how can some foreign film enter an isolated country. makes me think.
well ive read that its illegal to have these types of movies or DVDs. if you have it,you can be punished.
I think these cartoons are quite innocent from the government's perspective and approved. Do you really think they would sell illegal DVDs so openly from a kiosk? Think again.
I don't think there is anything against filming. My friend told me that they checked all of his memory cards before he entered and right before his flight out. They deleted one of his ten clips.
the cashier is very cheerful!
3:45 Could anyone tell me please what cartoon that is?
"Norman Normal"
@@laceyt5623 Thanks a lot.
Did they have "The Interview"?
sad collection they have... diplomats must feel very lucky to have the net
How can he upload to RUclips when there's no internet there ?
Maybe he recorded it and upload it after he went back his country
There’s a thing called a VPN
Some of you Are NOT Reading his Descriptions he has uploaded videos in North Korea it takes two days to upload a 15-minute video
Please pardon my American ignorance but couldn't one be imprisoned for taking these candid types of videos?
+Martin Sanchez that is exactly what I thought. and also, I thought foreigners needed a 'guide' with them at all times? lol
+Martin Sanchez They are not tourists, they worked in Pyongyang.
Maybe there's lots of laws that we don't know.
*Sorry for my bad english
In watching the video he posted about buying street food in Pyongyang, you can see a guy at the beginning of the video, after the host exits his car, who is walking down the street holding a black briefcase. Later in the video, after the host and his companion have eaten, the same guy can be seen again as they walk back to their car. I wonder if he's some sort of monitor.
+Martin Sanchez Yes, maybe...but we dont notice, we saw so many people like that in pyongyang.. but after living three years,,we dont care anymore :-p
their version of Redbox.
How does he keeping recording in North Korea do you live there
He doesnt live there he lives in Indonesia
Are these South Korean DVD's smuggled into the country? I did spot a Squirrel and Hedgehog DVD but many others are American cartoons lol. What do the authorities do if you get caught watching foreign stuff, do they turn a blind eye?
Disney Movies are rather common there and it is what ever they approve of
Louis Bourbon I thought they would ban American cartoons too since they seem to hate everything coming from the West.
Lucy Deetz Western media would have you believe as much. But the west really fucked them over which is why they're so hostile.
***** main issue they have alot of this 'illegal' enforce is very questionable
4:10 that's Thumbelina!!! That's the version I've been looking for for many years!!!!
Better go get it.
@@kennethjones1644 why don’t you?
It looks like morning to me, maybe she just opened shop and is displaying items that she packed last day? Just guessing.
the north koreans want to show that their country is good so when some foreigners visit them they're working hard but actually they don't, they're just acting.
John Holmes He is not diplomat.
I don’t think he’s a tourist. I think he is an Indonesian who lives and works there.
Yes he lives and works here. It is using NK money which is impossible/forbidden to have if you are a tourist here
