I love reading the reviews of people who prefer Sitka, is it because they did not spend the moolah or do they really believe that the Adi top is not worth it? For me, a player of 50 plus years I like the complexity and volume of the Adi top - no comparison.
There really is no comparison. I’m one of those who prefer Sitka. To my ears and my playing style, Sitka has a certain warmth to it that I can’t get out of red spruce. However, I’ll say that when you find the right red spruce top on a certain guitar, it’s hard to beat. IME though, it’s harder to find that “certain” guitar. I’ve owned only a handful of red spruce topped guitars and I’ve sold them all and kept my sitka models.
It's subjective. I love the sound of a Mahogany top on the right guitar. My adi top Eastman is stunning, but I also love my sitka top Tanglewood *shrug.
@@R.L.Humpert Nice I’m actually in the market myself for a red spruce topped guitar. The meaning behind my comment is that tone wood preference is just that. Just because one pays more for a certain species (regarding top wood) doesn’t mean it’s necessarily better. The OP’s comment is very “superficial”.
I notice the D and especially the G strings really ring. I wonder if it's adi thing. I have an old D18 with an adi top that has the same characteristics. My Sitka tops are more balanced but don't ring like that. Nice playing! Very smooth.
Question is it normal for some of the addy spruce tops and Sitka to have like a bit of a darkish line down the middle of the top from the bridge to the base of the guitar? I have a Martin HD28 and mine has that look on it and it looks book matched. But I just want to make sure this doesn’t signify like poor craftsmanship? I mean it’s a Martin and was inspected. I just notice some have that line of darkish hue and some don’t at all and I don’t get why. Thanks.
Did you get it without the yellow “ aging” toner? It looks lighter which is how I like them 👍🏻. They used to have a clear finish that showed natural color of the wood. They changed color in time like we do. Unfortunately all the new ones look yellow 🤦♂️. I wish they would offer them in both colors so we can all be happy lol. I just don’t like a new guitar to be yellow like someone has been smoking around it for 30 years
Sitka is very nice as well. I think the addy top guitars have a bigger sound but not by much. And I don’t know what people mean when they say the addy is not as balanced because I mean it is! And you can drive that guitar so hard and it just sounds even better. But a Sitka or addy HD28 from Martin aged or not is just a fantastic guitar.
JMO but maybe show something different than 7 plus minutes of Picking . These 28's offer a large Variety of sounds , which we didn't get to here , again JMO
@@johnswisshelm1872 Graham is a ridiculously gifted and hard working musician. We LOVE hearing him play! I'd take 700 minutes of this, if I could get it!
Some of the most tasteful playing I've heard in a while. What makes it sound so clear ? The Adirondack? Man I need one of these.
There is nothing wrong with this video. Its perfect. Incredible.
That is some incredible playing on a gorgeous guitar.
Have a 1990 hd-28ble with Brazilian rosewood and prewar bracing. If it had andirondack it would be the perfect guitar.
Friggin’ grand piano! Mighty fine!
Soundin tuff as hell, thanks for taking the time and helping the rest of us choose wisely
Awesome playing on a great sounding guitar!!
Thanks for listening
fantastic, enough said

@@sc12100 well I just spent 3100 on the HD28 adi I hope I don’t regret it. It sounds pretty awesome I think with the boom of the adi tops.

super nice guitar very well played sir
My next guitar!
Great demo, lovely playing and a beautiful sounding guitar.
Now, that's what i think an acoustic guitar should sound like... of course it takes a skilled pair of hands to really make it shine!
inspiring
Amazing tone!
Look into my eyes You will give me that guitar!
What a top!! 😳
Awesome sound
Great Guitar, and awesome picking ...

Yes, I'm sure it is the Adirondack that you're hearing make the single strings carry. Sitka is more mellow, period.
some folks hate that ring
nothing like a hd-28

Sap wood and the grain lines probably mixing in. Totally normal most likely

This one does have the aging toner.. Subtle, but it's there.
Which is better: Martin HD28 VTS Adirondack or Boucher BG52-GM?
เสียงงดงามมากครับผม
This dude is a real picker.
I think I prefer sitka over adi....does that make me an odd ball? this is a bad ass machine don't get me wrong...just my 2 cents.
Sitka can't hold a candle to the Adi Top

Nothing wrong with that. Depends on the back and sides imo

For sure.... why not a bit of Stairway to Heaven? or maybe Back in Black? Now that would sound good on that guitar I would think
I agree I wanted to hear some strumming.
a long boring review

Boring? Flatpicking is best way to show this beast off...love it!
