If ever there were an example of right hand technique being the overriding factor in great music, then this has to be it. Such basic chords, yet a most sublime piece of music. Thank you, Sir, your skill has inspired me to concentrate more on my picking hand. It’s also a very beautiful guitar, but without the player it is just an object. Thank you for sharing your immense talent.
I have the feeling that Carl could play an old Harmony guitar with four strings and make it sound fantastic. This older D-28 is gorgeous, but man, the 1936 D-18 on another video was just incredible!
@@mattrwilkins'm finding one and buying one. I just like the sounds better than even the authentics of today. IDC what anyone says. It's the sound that sounds right to me. I might even just get a custom d28 strait braced with hide glue. IDC how crazy that sounds. Just to own forever and let age beautifully
I'm still coming back in 2023 to listen to Carl play that piece. He has such a skill for composing beautiful melodies like this one. I can't wait for him to give them names and fkesh them out into full songs. I'll probably buy 2 copies of the cd or digital copies. Cheers Mr. Miner you still inspire me.
Just recently discovered Mr. Miner's videos thru a random RUclips recommendation of him playing a Petros Baritone. This man has singlehandedly re-ignited a long-dormant passion for guitar playing and lutherie. He seems to choose just the right compositions to showcase the particular instrument he's playing, without a whole bunch of showboating. That is a unique talent that rivals his impressive musical abilities.
I had the good fortune of playing a 1965 D28. It sounded just like this one (though being played by my far less skilled hands). It was balanced, sweet, and beautiful. I am more of an 18 guy, but the thing had me thinking about selling one of my cars to buy it 😂
I played a '58 D-28 for many years. I used heavy gauge strings on it. It was very bad for the guitar in the long run (neck resets), but it sounded like a piano.
Am i ok to contridict myself? Because since i left this comment i have now purchased this sunburst J-200 inspired. And it just goes to show .that you should never judge what you hear from youtube.its so strange because the sound dont sound great from here. But i was a local music store and i tried one.and was blown away .very bassy and Deffinitly as good as the sigma. So i take back what i said they are just as good as the sigma. .why the sound isnt so good from watching on youtube anyones guess..but yes there brilliant id say 98% close to a gibsonj200 Deffinitly
i am pretty sure that its large triangle wegen, they comme as 1,2 and 1,4 mm, but in the most recent videos, it looks like he converted to blue chips, like many others, again, large triangle and doesnt look very thick.

Jesus....that's the nicest sounding guitar I've ever heard!!
Was thinking the same thing
I love how these older D 28's are so direct and clearly focused. Not muddy or overly bassy, just sweet and clear.
Played a 1969 D28 today. Had this same vibe. Lush. Balanced. Sweet.

@@el34glo59the Rich Robinson model might be worth looking at.
A bad player will make it sound blurry and bassy. The guitar is important, but the player determines most of the sound.
The clarity of the wood is unbelievable in the bass tones!

Jaw dropping tone on that D-28. That guitar is where it needs to be... in the masters hands.
That was the most beautiful song on an amazing guitar! What a gift!
We're so pleased you're enjoying our videos Jon!
I think thats the nicest Martin I have ever heard.....so sweet.....and you playing is sublime.
The sound is visual, you can imagine a scene just to listen to this guitar

Nice playing, nice old 28 in great condition.
Had a boss that got the ultimate deal on a 66 D28 for $600!
Ohh. That's a sweet, warm, open sounding guitar.... Very harmonious. Nice playing.
Totally different sound than a brand new from the factory d 28
One day I will say hello to my D-28 friend. Sooner or later that day will come!

One of my favourite songs from carl
Nice!
beautiful sound ✨😍👌🙏
what string set is used?
Wow
I have a similar D-28. What strings (model and gauge) did you use to get the fabulous tone on this video?
замечательно!
Anyone knows which chords he plays on that run up at 0:57? His left hand is just out of frame and I can't figure it out 🤔
ja - I just got round to working this one out. The three chords are: 020100 -> 2x020x -> 4x040x (obviously numbered relative to the capo).
Damn!!!!
D 28, Enough Said .
What microphone did you use brother ?
Damn Carl...
que capotraste é esse?
4,5기타가격이 얼마인가요
Pretty perfect, unlike the consistency of Martin guitars But the playing, well, pretty darn right-on! Great job! Guitar sounds good, too!
Martins consistency is great. Don't give me that
whats the brand of the capo
Elliott
name of the song anyone ?
I am sure it's an original composition by Carl, he spins some beautiful melodies doesn't he?
Glenn's, definitely
very nice what strings and gauges were used and what flat pick and thickness was Carl using

@@tcoudi I love my Blue Chip, but something about the pairing of the Wegen Bluegrass and my Martin HD28V that is magical.

That music is not really my taste. But the playing was lovely and the guitar’s tone is amazing.
Standard X bracing never sounded so beautiful.
Who says Sitka isn't as good as Addy?
Name of song? PLEASE 🙏🙏🙏
So beatuiful! What a sound and feel!
