My Next 2 arrived here in Cyprus 3 days ago. As an original rubber key owner in the 80s i can't wait to get back into the newest version! Thanks Jim and the team for enabling the revival. 🙏
Have fun!
Love all these stories - 1st class
Glad you like them!
Thanks for posting :-)

Jim is right about the Speccy split screen is a nightmare for beginners. I was studying the manual and watching some videos and still can't understand the formula in Assembly/machine code to point to a pixel in the screen (although i understand the layout). I have spent 3 days on it and my head cracked and i am non the smarter. I gave up for a while. Now i focus on other part of the Z80 machine language and i think i will go straight to use the new NEXT Layer 2 graphics mode as it seems more straightfoward. The classic Speccy screen is indeed a fricking nightmare! (and i do have some experience with coding graphics...i have done some sprites moving back in DOS VGA days without all the Direct X, albeit in C++).
The Spectrum screen is brilliant. If it didn't have this structure, most dynamic games would run 10-30% slower.
Nice! Miss ZX Spectrum so much!
Fortunate to have met Jim, a genius and also a great person. Couldn't describe better the feeling we had back then when stuff was moving on the screen. Sadly I couldn't attend at the time because I was working but I'm glad I get to watch it here.
