I really want to see a mash up, as you pick two existing creatures that exist and combine them... Like a alien and cow or a zombie and dragon or something
Let me know what you think of Victor! He’s actually the first in a series of 3. I made the fonts Trade Gothic and Lucida Blackletter as well. Let me know if you think I should remake them too! 😁 Follow me on Twitter: twitter.com/aceofclay
^^ its Friday!!!!!!!!!! so happy!!! Edit: i am going to have to watch this a little later because my mom just fell and might have broken something, baii
I STILL want to find the EXACT same tool as your spoon tool. ALL other spoon tools are either too wide or too sharp etc. It is mission impossible to find one like that. And I bought the same tool set you recommended in the comments of your videos. :( Damn I want one :(
Or may be she's a Dark Mexican Font called Izquierda . . . smuggled across the border in exchange for empty Ink Cartridges . . . Shit. . I godda stop drinkin heavy
So here’s a fun backstory I came up with. Your new Victor looks like him in his young days and he became a newspaper man and would work tirelessly to make a name for himself in the business . And then your original Victor looks like he has spent decades being in the newspaper business and he’s more mature and much older and wiser. And head of the company☺️ hope you enjoyed this fan theory backstory. Keep up the amazing work
This guy needs to me in an animation, I can see him being a character in a Tim Burton film. He looks so cool and I love characters that have this kind of feel to them.
THANK YOU ACE OF CLAY! You have such creative imagination and I so look forward to Friday’s! I’ve watched you from the very beginning when I was researching how to sculpt in poly clay one of your first videos popped up and I was addicted. Not only have I grown in my clay skills, I truly enjoy watching your videos. They got me through a year of cancer treatments as my Friday Treat for making it through a grueling week of chemo and radiation. Yea! A new Ace of Clay Video...I made it another week! We’ve marked over a year cancer free and sculpting and the whole world has gone crazy! Now as I was late to catch this last video which is amazing as usual and shows your growth as a sculptor it made me wonder what was going through your mind as you were resculpting him. I think he lost some of his playfulness. Some of the innocents of your very first sculpt. That’s the major difference and that will never be duplicated. Isn’t it wonderful to hold on to your first sculpt to see your progress through time? I have so enjoyed watching your growth and your talent blossom through this time as I used to teach art way back in my younger days and have managed to support myself through various odd art forms. Polymer clay is one of the more fun less personally dangerous ones I’ve taken up in a while and I do love it. Now I get to watch as I fight cancer again and Friday’s will once more be my “good girl” reward! THANK YOU ACE OF CLAY
Ellen, thank you so much for your kind words. I am so happy to hear that you are a year cancer free and my videos helped you get through treatment. I will never forget this comment. Stay safe, and thank you so much for sharing. -Anthony
I hear the ultimate challenge for any artist is the self-portrait/sculpture. Might be something you could attempt in the future if you're feeling adventurous.
my favorite change compared to the original is how thin you made him look, it is probably one of my favorite of your sculptures so far, it is so stylized and detailed
Not only are you a really good sculptor, but your style is unique and you are a super creative dude. The backstory and details in this character are pretty neat
You really have a gift. For your first sculpt to be so detailed and beautiful is really amazing. The remake was great but the original is very special. You're right about the face. The original has a tad more life. The eyes are spectacular. I just watched another sculpt vid and I was trying my best to be unbiased but I couldn't help but compare. The other person was good but the devil is in the details. Your painting is so clean and crisp. You really do have a gift and to watch you create is a treat. Thank you for sharing.
I wanna chat with him over tea or coffee in a cozy library. He seems like he knows a lot and would probably geek out over classic literature and history. LOVEEE
This sculpture is so unique! I love the design. I like both but in the new one you really see how your skills have progressed! I especially like the noses.
Awesome where you got the inspiration! Ever thought about using the planets as an inspiration for characters? Mars and Pluto (maybe Pluto would be a baby since we can't call it a full planet anymore)
i love how much life this design has, its silly looking but in such a good way. i would never be brave enough to exaggerate features that much in my 2d drawings as my roots are in semi realism but to see what pushing features that much can really do, it makes me wanna learn to do it so bad. this is a design only truly creative minds and great artists could come up with
I used to (like right before the COVID-19 Pandemic) was a College Writing Consultant. I working in the writing center at my college and helped people with paper formatting, writing, prof-reading and citations. I got to the point where I could name more than 5 of the fonts with a one second glance and without even looking at the settings. I love Times New Roman font and you are my hero for making this guy! He is awesome and I love that you took inspiration from the font. ❤❤😁
I like the larger size of the original but the new version shows so much more growth as an Artist! Nicely Done! Your painting is still a highlight for me I just enjoy your expertise so very much!
He looks like a character from the movie Boxtrolls. I love him! Really hope you got the best grade possible or else I might have to talk to your professor (even if its been a while)
Love him, full of character and looks brilliant for the re-sculpt. I know, when I return back to my older BJDs, I really enjoy re-painting their face ups. I enjoy looking at the difference, and how my skill base has improved over the years. Suits his name too, you can imagine him going about his day. Thanks again for a great tutorial. Stay safe over there. 🇬🇧👍😀
He looks so dapper! love it! It's funny we both used a pocket watch in our videos this week! And love the name Victor, but for me that's very much Burton related.
This looks amazing! You truly captured his original essence but has more of your style in it now. I think the biggest difference is the stronger, almost Neanderthal type, brow ridge on the older sculpture. Regardless, he is amazing and I love the story behind him.
I find it amazing to watch your skill and the difference in refinement from the original which is great to the new version is brilliant. Me and my two kids love all your videos and wish you all the best of health during this time. I wonder if you could do a sculpture in memory of all the wonderful frontline staff maybe a rainbow dragon as my little one suggested. X
He is so cool! What an amazing story to go with him, too. Inspiration comes from all sorts of places! The unique style and history that goes with him is super intriguing. I would love to see a lady by his side sculpted in that same Victorian style. Big fluffy dress, parasol, hair in bun with ringlets on the sides of her face, petticoat, etc.! Another one I’ve been meaning to suggest, a “lady of the night” from the Wild West era. Like in those photos you can have done with the old time looks, characters holding liquor bottles and shotguns/rifles, I hope that makes sense. Still want a fairy or pixie too!
Because you've said so I will relax for the 18 minutes and 24 seconds left of this video. Relaxing is something I desperately need to do right now, and your videos are a nice way to do it, despite the fact I'm the living embodiment of the "This is fine" meme right now
I really love your remake, but the original one is also great 😁 For the subcribers requests series, I would looove to see you sculpt something based on the Harry Potter universe, or especially from the book Fantastic beasts and where to find them!! Maybe a hippogriff or a thestral or one of the goblins from Gringotts 😍 But also an Alice in Wonderland series would be great :) Love your channel ♥️
I haven't been here since the very beginning, but I've been here for most of your uploads. You make my fridays absolutely amazing. I love watching how your technique changes and how you become more and more confident. Thank you for all of this. You really make my week
I usually end up making my characters through improvisation.I don't know what it's going to be until I'm almost done with the head, which is interesting.Once in awhile I will visualize a specific character in my head before I start
My friend, I'm new here and I'd like to suggest two creatures of Brazilian folklore to you to make. The Cuca, a crocodile witch that also disguise her self as a creepy old lady to eat little children in their beds, and the Saci, a Brazilian goblin that looks like a one legged black boy smoking his pipe and travelling in his little twister using his red "sleeping like" hat, looking for vitms to his pranks. Do some research about them. I bet you'll love it!
He is amazing. Very close to the original. But this new one is perfect!!! And I love the name. When you do another Q and A I would love to know what you are thinking when to are creating? ❤️
I'm so glad I found your channel. RUclips recommendations dont suck for once. Discovered your channel a few weeks ago and started sculpting myself and it's my favourite hobby now. So thank you. I'm sorry if you said that in your previous vids or anything but I wanted to ask how you mix your acrylics regarding water. I never used acrylics and have no idea what brings the best results or even how to work with them. Do you even use water?
Very nice! The face is really expressive. You could add a drop of clear resin on the watch face and clean up the chain with a cuetip damped in acetone. ;)
He’s terrific! His new face has much more life in it...it’s more wizened. I love that you based a sculpture on a font. Inspiration can truly be sparked by anything! You could do a sculpture of his wife and have her maiden name be Stanley. I think she’d be very elegant and classy...I use T.N.R. when I’m trying to “class up” something I’m writing, otherwise I use Arial or another san serif font.
Great work as always. Would love to see your take on a stylized "Historical Figure" series. Something like Napoleon (a la your Mad Scientist Assistant) or Abe Lincoln (along the lines of this video)
You could do a “Victoria Roman”. It would be cool to see what his wife would look like. He’s super cool. Love the pocket watch!

Comic Sans 👀

Yeah he definitely looks worthy of a 3 name name haha
Ok but... times new Roman font as inspiration I LoVe him so much😂

As a retired journalist I love this. You put so much thought to it. Great job. But every good reporter needs a photographer...
my favorite change compared to the original is how thin you made him look, it is probably one of my favorite of your sculptures so far, it is so stylized and detailed

So cool, you always go over the top with detail. You should try a two part sculpture like a horse and a headless horseman.
The concept of using font names for character names was a great concept.
You could make a character with comic sans or a mermaid from arial type font.
