Poised and ready for any style of music, the Alesis Strata Prime electronic drum kit features generously sized, triple-zone mesh pads for the 20" kick, 14" snare, 8" and 10" rack toms, and 12" and 14" floor toms. Alesis Rotatable Cymbal technology provides 360-degree sound, dynamics and articulation for the Strata Prime’s 14" hi-hats, two 16" crashes and 18" ride.
You can really get down to it with the intuitive Alesis Prime Drum Module with 10.1" touchscreen. Choose from 75 kits (from maple wood to ’80s electronics and beyond), four libraries and more than 1,000 multi-layered sounds-all derived from the renowned BFD Drums sound engine.
“There is a wonderful Stacks feature in the Prime Drum Module where you can layer up to three different sounds on each drum,” says L.A.-based session drummer, music director and producer Nathan Ricks, whose credits include Hunter Hayes, Lionel Ritchie and the Disney Channel. “For example, if the kick drum isn’t cutting it on a session, I can choose an 808 to create a heavier low end. You can add as much personality to the kit as you wish.”

I wonder if you can add more cymbal sounds and cymbal pads to the module?
NO digital audio out? => NOT Prime class! :(
Woooo....Alesis is killing it with this one 🤟
"You can live in the 80s as much as you want to" 😆 Whole overview has the best humor so far! Great job Mr. Ricks. Very cool, very on point, informativ and entertaining.
I’m a bassist. But know guys with the Roland sets. I have to admit; Alesis has been knocking the ball out the park for some time now. When I find space for my home studio I might get this set to add to it. It has all the sounds I need to make nice demo recordings. I could use a drum machine but I want the “human” feel to my recordings and this would get the job done. And too me, the price is right compared to the TOTL Roland. Nice job Alesis.😕🥁🎶👍🏾
Im really impressed with this kit. Ive played just roland over the years but this has definitely peaked my interest.
Perfect E Kit
Nice new set hope I can get my hands on this and record
I need this like yesterday.
Time to get your oder in then! www.guitarcenter.com/Alesis/Strata-Prime-Electronic-Drum-Kit-1500000419223.gc?source=4GOA4LOBA
wooooooooooooooh! that 808 kick stack
Purchased mine- happy so far! 🥁
3 week review?
@@CharlieMagic_ this weekend I’ll be releasing a video about my thoughts!
@@howdydrums hell yeah! I'll check it out for sure
Respect Mr Ricks 👌🤙🏴☠️
Right on! Maybe us Strike owners will get a module firmware update! I'd love to get those BFD sounds locally, vs having to use a vst.
I really like this kit. especially the module. I have a couple of questions. can the snare detect if you are side sticking it. separate from just hitting the rim ? and how would this set plug into an audio interface. and how would it show up on your Pro Logic screen. would the drums and cymbals all be recorded separately on a different track ? or how would the kit show up on your Logic screen ? thanks
bonjour comment régler les graves et les aigus sur le module? merci
Dumb question here. Do you need to run individual XRLs from the entire kit to your mixer or just one from the module???
hello what is the name of the kit that you play at the very beginning of your video please thank you?
This Is Sick!!
Alesis has always been the best for lower prices
Espectacular!👏👌🎵🎶🔈🔥
Still waiting for my Strike Pro SE kit to ship. Hoping it doesn’t get canceled now with this new kit on the way
Alesis is 🔥on this one...👍
i saw theres also Cymbal Out 3 and 4, does this mean we could buy like china and splash from Alesis OR like roland and add them into the kit?
Yes
Nice
The only e kits like are waaaay out price range. But those are the only ones that I like that actually feel and sound as close to the acoustic drums. But if you added up all the snare drums I've bought over the last 10 years I could have bought one of these kids easily
"You can use whatever high hat stand and kick pedal you want." That's a funny way of saying it doesn't come with either of those things.
Well….this Set for sure is targeted at professional drummers who also already play acoustic drums, because i wouldn‘t mind because i already have like 3 to 4 hi-hat stands and 3 different kickpedals to choose from and every Drumset i would buy new, i would not buy any hardware because i have so much stuff already
Sounds amazing. Looks nice. Would’ve been fantastic if we could have specked a smaller kit though? I’d rather a kick, rack and floor tom personally as I’d never use the 8 and 10 toms
Beat me to it. Alesis should follow EFnotes lead in having different kit size options.
💯 agree. I’d love a 4pc configuration.
Alesis! I need to try this out!
The sound and feel of the Strata Prime kit is 🔥
Wow,, that's incredible for church...
How does this stack up against Roland I wonder! Looks great
I've had my eyes on the Roland Td-27kv2 for a little while now, both are the same price. How do they compare?
Alesis will give you nicer sounds right out of the box but Roland will give you superior low latency and durability. Roland works flawlessly with VST software. But it's really a trade off. I would love this kit at $2k price point but for the cost, I would go with TD-27, I need durability.
@@okjames2954Thanks for the response! I think the digital snare and ride cymbal from the Roland kit is a big selling point for me
@@kodyrattler I can’t describe how great they feel, it’s a game changer. The only trade off are the sounds which are the weakest link for sure. But there are ways around that.
@@okjames2954 how far off do you think the snare and hi hat for this is comparatively? Like night and day difference or like this is 85% there? I know the snare here doesn't have auto-cross sticking like Roland
@@okjames2954 ended up grabbing a VAD507!
i wish they gave you two 10s instead of an 8 and a 10 for racks
Still mesh heads....so it's going to feel like all E kits. Is there an e kit that actually feels like an acoustic kit?
Not any of modern kits that I’ve played. I just stick Pintech triggers onto the batter heads of my acoustic kick and snare, and call it a day😀
Dw
❤❤❤
Every artist that I seen demostrate these drums won't play them in concert or on their RUclips videos!! I wonder why????
QUIT TEASING ME. I don't have that much money. I want this drum set though
It sounds good for me...u don't hear that techno electric sound ❤❤👌👌👌
Dayum...
I like the module. Overall i like it but......
From a design standpoint:
-I hate red and black color combo, probably the worst color combo ever.
-The chunky plastic part on the bottom of shell is also ugly should be integrated into the inner shell as to make the person see more of a drum shell and less plastic.
-Get rid of rack and use stands to eliminate crosstalk.
-The rack would also look better as a chrome color.
-Bottom of cymbals could also be a brass color or actually brass (cheap cymbal material) instead of black plastic.
-Touch screen should have x-y effect pad just like they added to dj gear and Akai MPC
Hope to resist the temptation on this one... strike kits not even a yr with me... :p
Why BFD Why Not Toontrack EZ drummer ? there drums sounds the best
what’s it being listed at tho?
~$3,500
Which really isn't bad for what this product is.
Everything sounds good for E drums except the hi hat
Plays a bit like an ad tbh.
Were there _any_ criticisms?
They gonna force Roland and DW to compete.
Do you REALLY think that Roland and DW are threatened by Alesis?....HAHAHA....LOL!!!!
I am not impressed with the sounds at all! I have watched several "Strata Prime" videos, I love the kit design and sound module look and feel but every video has mediocre sounds. My Roland TD-9 with the V Expression "Master 50" expansion pack sounds way better, in fact the Roland "Studio" kit #1 sounds far better than anything I've yet heard from this module, surely this has better sounds than what this video demos?
I saw the kit & thought "that'll do for me" then hearing the sounds "through headphones" & changed my mind - I've still got my trusty old TD10 running SD3 and the sounds blows this away - gutted as I have the money ready too😢
Galatasaray❤❤❤❤❤
he claims you could use this in a green room, or hotel, but would the ordinary drummer really be doing that?
All these years later.....and it doesn't sound much better than the DM Pro I used to have 20 years ago. Not going to compete with Roland that way. I don't care how it plays. 🙄
Roland is the only ones I like and they're all like stupid expensive
@@luvmedrums4057 The Pearl Mimic Pro module sounds even better than the Roland I think. It's chock full of Steve Slate drum samples.
Sounds "empty"
"Roland 17 year old TDXYZZ162 user" - rOlAnD iS alWayS beTTer!
I’m a long time Roland guy and I don’t concur. The new technology has improved drastically. Roland is still the top dog if you have $12,000 + tax to spend.
so they basically took a cymbal away, added 1k to the price and called it a day xD Are we ever gonna see a proper kit for anything less than 2k? I've been wanting to get a set for almost 20 years now and damn... 20 years have passed and the 1k market is exactly the same as it was back then... No cheaper sets coming, no used sets getting cheaper... You either invest 2-3k or you are left with the toy level stuff... It better have 1k worth of better triggering -_-
Yeah, that is such a very negative and might I say very incorrect way of looking at this. Yes you do lose a cymbal. But You are getting all chokable cymbals, bells on all your cymbals. A touchscreen module. With easily layered/stackable sounds and at 65 Drums reviewed, most of the garbage sounds that you’ll never play in favor of sets that you will actually want to play.
Does it warrant the price tag? I would argue no. So I am definitely in agreement with you on the price but while you’re losing a cymbal you are gaining quite a bit more than the alesis strike pro kit.
@@elliothetzer9685 65 Drums opened up the snare which is a clear downgrade over the strike one too :/
They gave you a brand new module loaded with a BFD drum samples, a large color touchscreen, much improved three zone cymbals, improved hihat, and updated trigger design in the pads. They also made the rack more stable by providing extra cross bars on both sides.
@@johnburkhalter3880 I couldn't care less about the module, they could include one that just has a midi out without a screen or sounds or whatever and i'd be very ok with it to be honest... What matters is the triggering and that's it... Even the snare went from having multiple sensors to having only one with 3 cones... Another downgrade 😥
I’m in the same situation as you. I bought a TD 12 or 20 in 2001 for like 4500 and ended up returning it within a year. I bought a few cheap Yamaha kits over the years and believe it or not that 500 module if you layered sounds and really know how to work the module it wasn’t that bad seven or eight years ago. It was actually much better than the Roland stuff if you know how to tweak, but that’s the past and the last electronic drums that I bought was a TD 11 in 2017 and I gotta be honest I was able to put together two or three kits that weren’t that bad! I believe this blows away anything Alesis has done before and for the fraction of the price of the Roland stuff. The Yamaha DTX 6 has a few nice choices but that was a massive disappointment considering if you’re a Yamaha fan you were hoping they were gonna come out with something that was going to blow everything away and it didn’t happen. This module actually sounds pretty good to me and I think I may consider just buying it and triggering it through another acoustic conversion kit or just other pads. And Dude, did you not watch the Sweetwater video or Drum Center of Portsmouth? The kit sounds awesome on those videos. Probably the best stock sounds I’ve ever heard especially for the price. And watch the J Rod video from Cooper drums! He’s blazing on the snare drum and it’s picking up everything. Alesis has famously had poor reliability whereas Roland and Yamaha you could probably leave out in a tornado and they still play! I believe this kit is going to be much more reliable and I’m sure they’ll have a cheaper version.
That’s amazing! Let’s be friends?
hello what is the name of the kit that you play at the very beginning of your video please thank you?
