The small hints towards Emilia’s past were definitely a big part of this episode. And while there were a few important details that didn’t make it into the anime, it actually wasn’t the most significant change made. That comes from an emotional encounter between Emilia and Subaru that went to change Subaru’s very way of thinking.

I am SO SO SO GRATEFUL for these Cut Content videos. As I got near the end of this, I realized how completely engrossed I'd been, like I was watching a really good movie and thought, "Oh! Where did that time go?? Damn, I'm at the end!!!" Then it suddenly hit me that ALL of these vids felt like that for me, and I hadn't realized until now.

Hope they made a 35 minute episode for episode 13. That emilia conversation would've brought more impact to the kiss that happened on episode 15. It felt like it was a great set for the episode.

subaru's fine because they only have a three-year difference in life experience and Emilia is fiscally 18 ( the main reason mainors can't consent is that their brain is not fully developed so they don't have a great decision-making and reasoning skills yet, they also act more on their emotions but considering Emilia is fiscally 18 those things shouldn't be a problem)

Re: Zero is such a compelling world that has been built by the author. While dark the story is compelling. I have not read many of the RE:Zero Light Novels but if they are anything like DanMachi's then the Light novels will be fantastic in terms of world building and character development. Edit to add: RE:Zero does a good job of also showing the complex emotions of both love and pride itself and how both are self destructive. Every story has a lesson to tell all we have to do is either take it or reject it.

Rem was supposed to be the first kiss right after the white whale (when she asks subaru if he will keep her by his side) but Felis interrupted him after his full confession (i assume aninews talked about that in a previous cut-content video)

That scene got cut in the LN so it's not canon, the author did that so it doesn't sound like a harem, means that didn't happen.
@@Moon-yh8dh actually, as of right now everything that is in the LN and not in the anime, still happens in the anime but you just don't see it since time is limited and novels have just too much dialogue.
Exemples: in the anime we never really get told why Ram received a blank letter in S1, in the LN its clearly said that its rem who wrote the letter and that once she got eaten, all traces of her vanished including what she wrote. While they did not have time to explain it, the anime director just left it to the viewers to either deduct it in a rewatch, or to learn it from people who read the novels.
Another exemple is subaru's feeling for rem, because even tho we never saw the confession (because it was a dialogue heavy long scene) we do see THE RESULTS of the confession in the anime. People were confused when it seemed like he rejected rem in ep18, but then told crush emilia and petelgeuse that his number1 and number2 spot were taken , and then in s2 when subaru told emilia he loves rem/shes so important as much as here or when he tells rem-carmilla " i like you and you like me". Well its because he did confess, it was just offscene.
Thats the reality of adapting novels. Not only its impossible to adapt every scene and details (hello harry potter) but Anime is just an advertisement for the novel (thats how the author makes his money, and since novels are much less popular than manga, they have to really emphisise the use of the LN) like why we will never get a season 2 for NGNL. You have to read the LN to connect all the dots in the anime OR there is this really good channel called aninews that has a series " re:zero cut content" episode by episode that you can watch alongside each episode to get the full story. The author basically said in a q/a that : UNLESS the anime decides to ALTERNATE THE EVENTS (like give an anime original reason as to why the letter was blank) then the LN events are canon but just offscene.

5:45 I get why this conversation is important but this line about Emilia Only wanted for Subaru to be at her side and Subaru already saying he supports her because he loves her kinda feel redundant from a pacing POV given that is basically the dialogue for the Kiss scene
6:25 I get and like This realization about Subaru realizing he doubted Emilia the most but again, the pacing feels redundant. As in like we got from "The shock about Roswaal's reveal" High emotions to back for a calm moment to then back to the realization about How little he trusts in Emilia to back to him running away.

I can see why they cut out Subaru’s encounter with Emilia. By Subaru lashing out it definitely seems like he’s going backwards in terms of development and the message that Emilia conveys is the same one as rem did in arc 3. That’s it’s not ok to give up. The things that they talk about such as the trial and Subaru’s feelings towards her and her newfound resolve are all things that are either talked about or shown in different parts of the arc. Making it a nice seen but not entirely being necessary. Also Subaru saying he should have believed in her more contradicts the fact he kept her out of pucks plan to break their contract after this conversation should have happened
