- snow in himself is my roman empire because he was such a funny and likable character in the beginning. if i didn't know who he was and who he would later become, not gonna lie he'd probably be one of my favorite characters.
but hes not T-T so i end up hating him at the end. obviously he was lying when he talked about the third person he killed (because it was sejanus and he was avoiding saying that). but i think deep down that was also true. because the snow in the beginning of the movie is truly gone. the coryo we meet is definitely not the coriolanus that we see in the final shot.

@@Justajokebro Idk the inner monologues of Collins' books are the most important part of the experience for me. The movies are fun but you lose so much of the story when you lose access to the characters' thoughts. TBOSAS works because Collins does a phenomenal job putting you into the mind of someone who is pathologically narcissistic and probably a neurological psychopath, then letting you experience the dissonance between Snow's reasoning for doing things and what the other characters think is his reason. The earliest example of this is why he actually goes to meet the tributes on the platform, why Lucy Grey thinks he's there, and the way he eventually spins it when things go off-plan. Hell even his opening obsession about his shirt makes you feel uncomfortable in its dissonance.

He had dark thoughts and didnt like people much except for Tigris and his grandma, he wasn’t irredeemable. In the books there are many moments where he expresses sympathy and regret, he was more of a narcissist than a psychopath, psychopath aren’t able to feel those things

exactly my thoughts. it didn't live up to my expectations AT ALL as well as the standards of the original movies, i found it to be incredibly underwhelming with non-compelling characters and an weird-ass off pacing. also I just expected it would take me back a bit to 2012/2015 and give me that feeling back that the original movies had, and it didn't do that at all so maybe I might be a bit biased. but. overall it was just a mediocre movie for me where the only thing that stood out to me was maybe the acting and that let me down and disappointed me in so many ways (I didn't even read the book this time, but I agree that YES, it was INDEED a lot of peoples opinion and I can't blame them).
That's okay. I'll agree to disagree though. I thought the film was a fantastic character study into how someone can become a dictator. They did a phenomenal job with it. It was like a Shakespearean tragedy.
